ParticipantHa, I’m speculating about Archie and a guy not on the show, speculating about Regina in response to an actual spoiler that there’s a new development in her life is nothing!
RumplesGirl, Hook and Regina seem off also to me, but I think it could happen in the future. I don’t think they’ve already formed a romantic connection, but it could be bad or good if they did. If Neal and Regina is Henry Sr. and Cora, Hook and Regina could be Cora and Rumpel. They might egg each other on to new lows of evil. I do also see it could be the polar opposite, that they’d support each other like two people who have kicked an addiction together sometimes can. It’s a coin flip to me.
In thinking about those betrayals, I realized that we only have Cora’s manipulative words that Regina intended to betray Hook by not giving him his memories to carry out his revenge. We know she had the power to write the curse to give people memories as she did with Jefferson. She could have kept her word, and maybe she might have as her reason for asking Hook to kill Cora was to make sure Cora would not influence her in the new realm. Would she want to risk Rumpel around with all his pleases? We also know that Regina had no idea that Cora lacked a heart. So she didn’t set Hook up to fail. She may have been just as surprised as Smee to realize Hook was not in SB, but she had years to get used to it and rationalize how that happened in some other way, such as, perhaps he went back to NL and the curse didn’t work there. She apparently knew of him and his reputation, when she met him back in her castle for the first time.
So with that idea in mind, her meeting him in the alley in Tiny is interesting. She doesn’t seem to be angry, says it is his lucky day that she and Cora made amends. They continue to be wary allies after that until Cora whaps him into a bookcase. Regina doesn’t try to betray him and when he comes to her in her office, she seems almost glad to see him, up until he tries to lay on the charm about Cora being a friend, then she gets upset seeing the cuff and her demeanor changes and she shoves him off the cliff to be a distraction. So I don’t see them as having already formed a romantic interest, but remaining more neutral rather than carrying active grudges.
He did leave her to be tortured, but he didn’t look especially happy about it either. He seems more like the type to gloat when he has the upper hand, rather than be reserved and walled off. He looks annoyed at Greg, saying “let’s get back to my revenge” as if he had no desire or interest in revenge on Regina, despite what she just pulled. I don’t think that’s active romantic interest though. Maybe he does feel a bit sorry for her, having seen Cora, perhaps knowing the part Rumpel played in making Regina who she was (or at least, Cora’s perspective on that).
Hook likes to talk and find things out (the better to manipulate those around him), and Cora likes to boast. I have a feeling Hook knew quite a bit about Regina from Cora.
But anyway, it’s a coin flip at this point.

ParticipantI don’t think Ausiello was referencing Bae at all. The sentence means that despite Tink’s party girl ways, she has the heart of a true survivor.
Snow and Regina have heard of NL obviously, even if by reputation. They have met Hook.

ParticipantIf we are looking for an ideal, then someone without a personal history experiencing Regina acting like the EQ to them might be better. So that rules out the characters we have seen, including Kurt as he got a glimpse when she tried to chase him down to take his son, but did not let him go.
It could be someone who has seen her darkness, understands and forgives it without judging it, who brings out her long buried better nature, but I do not see that being Neal. I think he’d end up more like the Henry Sr. to her Cora, because he has been abandoned and betrayed so much, that he’d be a bit too eager to stick his head in the sand and not call her on her questionable choices. Maybe if she were fully redeemed, and a different personality, but then she wouldn’t be quite the same Regina we’ve come to enjoy. It’d be like a reboot to her stable-queen self. I think a lot of people enjoy her suffer-no-fools, take-no-prisoners attitude in some respects.
Now it could be Sydney, but besides the fact he was played and betrayed twice by her, my main issue is she didn’t show ANY attraction before to him, despite knowing how much he cared for who he thought she was. Plus, the actor’s commitment to another show makes me think that if his character were to be her “endgame” it would largely be something off-screen or hinted at after the show concludes, rather than an ongoing, large story arc.
I agree about the orientation too–not a huge issue if they want to write a story that she’s bi-sexual, but she has been too interested in men to this point.
Perhaps they could have Archie hook up with a guy, because we haven’t seen him being attracted to anyone. In Disney’s Pinnochio, Jimminy gets a little crush on Blue, blushing and acting bashful. They didn’t have him do that in OUAT, plus his Storybook dating video (I know, it was more of a joke) even had an ambiguous pronoun choice if I remember correctly (and I totally might not be). Not Whale though, since he seems like he sincerely enjoys the ladies (that hounddog!).
My new thought–what about Zorro? This is a character that has a similar feel to Robin Hood. Though it could work for Archie too come to think of it, as Zorro usually pretends to be a bit uninterested in women to conceal his swashbuckling identity (though he romances a woman typically). Ha…a Regina/Archie/Zorro triangle.

ParticipantWasn’t that a miniseries? I never saw it but I think there have been some great movies since then. Maybe not so much Western genre, but I guess it depends on what you like.

ParticipantIt is sort of an either/or thing to think about connecting the two ideas of the slight and the laugh. There wasn’t much time for Hook to slight Tink if she popped into being at Emma’s birth. I think both are speculation, not spoilers.

ParticipantHook being frozen would have no implication for necessarily concluding anything about Tink’s age, as he was frozen in a small bubble in FTL while Emma went from birth to 28. Everyone in SB also did not age during that time.
So if Tink was born, then got frozen in the bubble or cursed SB, she would be chronologically 1 or so. But fairies are shown as arriving the physical age they are, not as growing from baby to adults in the Disney Fairies version anyway. They pop out fully formed.
So OUAT could write fairies as originating that way (they showed Dwarves hatching fully grown, remember). If so, her age could be 1, but she’d look mid 20’s and act …well, it is Tinkerbell. She could be written as acting like anything from a mature woman to a small child, depends on how they want to go in OUAT.

ParticipantCasting calls are not accurate character descriptions. They want an actress in her 20’s, but that does not mean the character is that age. Then we have the whole mental age versus biological versus chronological age thing. She could look 25, be over millenia old, and act about 5.

ParticipantI missed the Emma’s laugh made Tinkerbell theory–oooh, interesting. That would mean Tink hasn’t been around all that long though, certainly not when PP began to hunt for Bae back in the day. So I’m not sure I like Tink being so “new” as all that.

ParticipantThere was a casting call for a thief that sounded similar to RH so people assumed a recast, but it could be Aladdin.
I like the idea of seeing how the genie got in the lamp and seeing him escape. Although the “3 wishes” trope is common to westernized versions, the original Aladdin story in the 1001 nights didn’t have a specific limit of wishes given by the magical creatures that Aladdin encounters. There was a slave of the lamp and of a ring. Incidentally, there is a reference in that story to China, so it could be tied to Mulan in some way too.
Disney’s version seems more close to what was done on OUAT, with the 3 wishes and the rules for the wishes. Except, the guy they cast and his look didn’t look like the “good” blue genie who helps Aladdin, but the wicked human guy they trick into taking the genie’s place.
So I could see this either way, that Sydney has powers because he is just a magical creature or that he doesn’t, because he was a human tricked into wishing to take a genie’s place, and once free, would be human again.
I do think Regina didn’t have a magic mirror until Genie wished that on himself, in OUAT version. Yes, the original Disney version is different, but in OUAT doesn’t that almost go without saying?
Why bother getting the character back if he isn’t going to do something interesting and big? That doesn’t mean he has to have magic, or even solve the transportation problem, but he could have a connection to Neverland or something like that.

ParticipantIf they want to focus on maternal love, then I would like to see Reg adopting all the trapped lost boys as their mother. Love does not have to be romantic but if the spoiler said special someone, then it sounds like that.
