ParticipantThey are pretty good with working in easter eggs.
As for Ariel–I hope they realize how popular a character she is, and how many fans want her to be more than a passing guest star with just a very short arc. We can kind of guess that they had space in the story for larger plots with various characters who had actors who chose to do other projects.

ParticipantWait, isn’t it possible that August put the story about Bae in at the same time he added his own story? All we know is that the picture of Bae is there at the time of S,B,&T. We don’t know it was in the book before that point. Does Henry comment on Pinnochio’s story increasing? I kind of thought he was less worried about the book, and more on getting Emma to believe at that point in time, so he might not have noticed if there were stories he hadn’t seen yet.
In any case–whether August read about Bae in the book begs one question–when did he do that? Because far as we know, he had not yet been to SB when he cornered Neal in the alley. So there has to be more story here, either August came to town on a previous trip before finding Emma, or someone else told him about Bae, or he knew him becasuse he met him. I really like the idea that he is on the run from the HO. It would lead to better in-story reasons for why August felt it so necessary to separate Neal and Emma.

ParticipantI don’t think the wraith was a specific nod to Harry Potter–that type of creature/art predates Harry Potter I think. Rowling mixed in a lot of myth/folklore legend and of course, some concepts might seem like Harry Potter universe, when just really it’s stemming from the same root source of myth/folklore legend that Rowling tapped.
BF wouldn’t have to “know” she was going to be a nun to have written herself notes, and it would work the same if she created an object to store her memories. The pensieve was a specific thing from Harry Potter I think (as opposed to based on common legend) so I don’t think that would be what they would use specifically. She could have created a counter trigger though to restore her memories early, as Rumpel did upon hearing Emma’s name.
I don’t think though that BF had a direct role in Henry’s adoption. At the time Henry was adopted, August was apparently off in Phuket. He mailed Emma the keys to the yellow bug (but stole the money) from there. Neal had given August that stuff in Canada, but August waited until he was in Phuket to send it. He must have gone pretty quickly after talking to Neal, since Emma is just finding out she is pregnant so unlikely he came back 8 months later to take Henry to SB. He might have, but I think with the new storyline of the HO it will trigger them using other players to get Henry to SB.
As for saying you don’t think Gepetto and Pinnocchio went back and forth to NL on the raft–no one is saying they went back and forth on that thing. It may have been something they cobbled together after escaping, because it sure didn’t look like a planned raft for an ocean journey–but we don’t know how one gets to NL. Rumpel says he thought there were no more beans in his land, and Smee replies that ships that dock come from other lands, where they find treasures. It’s kind of curious if that might mean worlds rather than just countries in FTL.

ParticipantThere’s whole threads on that sort of stuff somewhere. I forgot what thread I was in I think and just ran with that thought when it hit me.

ParticipantHm….about that character…. Picard never tells anyone about her, and it annoys her. Vash ends up going adventuring with Q, the mischevious super powerful god-like entity, though I think she leaves him eventually too. Not the model I think you want for CS!

ParticipantWell as long as we are doing crack theories about BF–here’s mine: during the cursed years she operated like that guy in Memento. She didn’t have her old memories, but she did have a set of instructions she had smuggled out of FTL. After all, Regina wasn’t likely to go reading the prayer books at the Convent–and if you need someone who is going to follow instructions on faith–who better than Mother Superior? She wouldn’t have her memories but she would have these notes to herself telling her what to do and when. Rumpel and Regina appear to be the only ones who were able to bring “things”–but maybe BF was able to do it too, but not avoid having her memories wiped.

ParticipantLike I said, there is so much untold story that it may be something they plan to dole out later. There was a tweet from Adam saying they hadn’t shown yet who called the cops on Emma–so I do think they might have a plan to show more of it–particularly if they can work something with Eion Bailey.

ParticipantI think the more we care about someone, the more it hurts when they do something that harms us. Yet by the same token, that love and trust can help us to heal more quickly, so long as it isn’t completely obliterated by the wrong act. If Hook does rescue or try to rescue Bae, of course, they might have formed a friendship after all, but if it is left just as we saw in the finale, then I don’t think Bae will be anything more than wary and distrustful of Hook because he isn’t looking to be friends with him. He wants to reconcile with Rumpel on some level–but it isn’t going to be easy for him to do that.

ParticipantHe’s Pinnocchio. He could have lied to Rumpel about who told him–and he likely would have lied, if how he knew were Bae or some shady other party like a HO contact.
There are a LOT of things that do not add up about August. So many that I think it is future plot threads more than it is plot holes–because there is just too much of a gap, just like Henry’s adoption.
The NL= Pleasure Island idea would be a great way to get back into those storylines too.
