These are questions I have chosen for the sake of sanity to ignore. Suspension of disbelief comes in handy right about now.
So true… at least with the shadow we haven’t yet seen them use plot device blue fairy in the mix.
I agree too that some things appear to be plot holes but are really more plot threads we can expect to be explored later….but some are things they obviously will never go back to explain like the boat parking, boat finding or quick apartment location by both Hook and Gold.
I don’t think there have been any hints of a connection between Hook & Rumpel other than Milah. If you mean Mulan she lives 100’s of years after Rumpel and Bae’s times so couldn’t be the reason in anyway they were poor–his business suffered when he became known as a coward is what I thought.

ParticipantWell lots of things are possible at this point. I am doubtful only because that would create another oddity on the timeline.
As to docking a boat, Happy Endings, I’m still not sure of the connection to the shadow, but are you suggesting docking is something only the captain would know how to do? Because if you know how to sail a boat, you also more or less know how to dock it, as it is all about the angles and the wind. Of course, that is a very big boat, meant to have a crew, so another explanation if you don’t buy the theory that they did it on purpose, is that maybe they didn’t have the manpower to maneuver well enough to dock closer in. Remember, neither group had a full crew, but Hook had Cora and all her magic. A much better question really about the boat is this: How on earth did they find it in NY harbor, with Gold bleeding and barely hanging on to life? That place is huge! Maybe Gold did have a tracking enchanted object to find things by name.

did you see Bae didn’t dock the boat like Hook did they had to use a row boat to get to shore from Hook’s boat right ❓
You’ve mentioned that before, but I don’t think it is an important plot point. I’m not even sure what point you’re making with it actually. That he didn’t dock it doesn’t mean he couldn’t have docked it. I took it as they wanted to hide the JR a little more, by leaving it further out, rather than where someone like Belle could stumble into it closer at the shore. It’s not like they had a line where Neal says “We’ll have to row in, I can’t get the boat in closer.”
I doubt Gold had a tracking spell per se, but it is possible he created a creature like the shadow to follow Bae but that creature was eventually defeated. Since it didn’t work, he didn’t send another (because in the back of his mind after the conversation with the Seer, Rumpel probably always knew he would have to use a curse, even though he dabbled at finding alternative routes). I wonder just how much effort he put into these alternative routes–probably was like throwing spaghetti at the wall and seeing what stuck.
I also like the idea that Bae’s name is important. The original tale of Rumpel after all has its ending turn on a name.

ParticipantShang..whoops wrong name–I think he’s just going to be left out or at best there’ll be a tweet about “oh yeah, Mulan reunites with him offscreen.” Blah!

ParticipantPhee– that was my headcannon idea too, because the original little mermaid tale (beyond being depressing!) is built around the unrequited love the mermaid has for the prince. It’s also got a much more heavily religious undertone (as do Andersen’s other tales…like the red shoes..) but there’s a lot to play with for OUAT. Maybe a connection between mermaids and fairies with the “sisters of the air” coda in the original?
I don’t even think they have to go for the happy ending here–OUAT can be dark sometimes, and having an Ariel who is an immortal NL mermaid who pines for a man who will never love her in return is the kind of weepy tragic thing they might do despite saying the show is all about hope. After all, we have Mulan tagging along with Phillip and Aurora rather than off with Chang. Though I want the happy ending version.

Because it wouldn’t make sense to me Bae didn’t like magic so why would he want to be PP and fly around.
Bae doesn’t hate magic so much as he understands it has a heavy price. I don’t think he would agree with Tamara that anyone with magic must die for instance.
As to why he becomes PP–as I said it wouldn’t be a traditional Peter Pan who enjoys being a boy on NL. He would be trapped there fighting to get out. The flying around would come about to avoid “setting foot” on NL and being trapped forever by the shadow and whatever keeps boys there. Bae turned to BF for help after all and boarded the JR enchanted boat to save his father who he knew still had the magical Dark One powers.

ParticipantDepends on what the price of it was 😉

I hope Bae isn’t Peter Pan 😥
Why?

ParticipantWe don’t know for sure how the Dark One came to be. For all we know, it is something that came from NL itself!
What the BF says is that those powers don’t belong in FTL. We don’t know she likes to send “mishaps” to earth–she specifically sent Bae to a Land without Magic, but that is the only time we’ve seen her do that, and it is sort of implied she could only do it by bean. Plus the fairies only had one bean left.
So we’ve talked on other threads about the possible connections to the Shadow, Wraith, Dark One. I’ve narrowed it down to these:
1) the shadow split off from Bae as he went into the portal because Dark One Magic doesn’t mix well with fairy magic2) Rumpel cast a spell to find Bae, and the shadow taking all the other boys is an unintended consequence
3) the shadow is a proto-wraith type thing, what it is like before magic captures it with the medalion and makes it do the bidding of whoever has the medallion. It came to earth because the bean portal ripped time and space and it just was an unintended and (unforeseen by BF) consequence (ie the price of magic) of Bae ‘s trip.

ParticipantYes, they did say they conceived the character of Bae around Peter Pan’s story–but I suppose I can say this without spoilers. I don’t think another character is going to be PP other than Bae, but that how Bae fills that role is not the traditional PP we know. He isn’t going to fear staying with Wendy in London–rather that is what he wanted. He doesn’t think NL is a great place full of adventure–he probably will hate it there, and want to leave only he is unable to do so for reasons we will find out. I also think he is not going to start off with an adversarial relationship to Hook, which is of course, the traditional PP does. Nealfirepan will not hate adults or fear growing up. He’s probably going to fear never having a real family and parents to love him more than growing up. Traditional Peter sort of wanted a mother, but not enough to stay in London with Wendy. Bae would jump at the chance to return–but for some reason when he does come back to the real world it is too late and he is on his own again. That’s why he is in America and becomes a thief.
