ParticipantSo much activity in the thread, I feel like I have had a journey with multiple stops through time and space of speculation land!
I'm on board the Granny dies/Neal vanishes train. GOAT are up to no good for the people of SB–but my question is, are they up to what they think is good for the people of the “Real World”? How does Tamara feel about Neal? She may not be in love with him, but would she want to kill him? How does a woman even manage to pretend to love someone enough that he proposes, and jokes about getting a workout in bed with her? I mean think about that –especially since she apparently has a relationship with Greg too. What kind of people are just ok with sharing that level of intimacy with someone as part of a job? The first things that come to mind are not very savory–but also James Bond comes to my mind. He'd easily seduce his way to information and enjoy it all the while. He kills and is sometimes ruthless in terms of the destruction he causes in pursuit of what he thinks is the greater good. What if “something we've never seen before” in terms of GOAT's agenda is that the organization for which these guys work is actually not an evil organization as such things usually turn out to be? I'm just curious about how A&E are going to surprise us with that.

ParticipantI read an interview with A&E in Entertainment Weekly where they were in DIsneyland being interviewed and made some comment about how all the different stories bump into each other there, and I think they did mention Tomorrow land. I wish I could find the article again but I recycled it long ago already and my quick attempt to google an online version didn’t net me anything. I think they also said something about Hook being misunderstood in the article, while on the Peter Pan ride.
Anyway–if they are indeed taking some inspiration from the parks themselves, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that they’d link it to EPCOT!

ParticipantI’ve thrown out speculation that the “upper levels” of GOAT’s organization are magical in origin or at least not World without Magic, so Gaultheria’s idea definitely fits with that.
Also bringing in Igor would mean more Whale so I’d be thrilled if they did it that way.
I didn’t think he stood out that much though–I can’t even remember much about Igor.

Participant😆 Sure RG.
If we do get “storybook London” I wouldn’t mind seeing Eliza Doolittle running around.

ParticipantOh that’s a good catch…..I don’t think Tamara is actually Tiger Lily because of an interview where A&E said she doesn’t have a FTL identity but sometimes they do nods to things. Now that I think about it though, did they say Tamara is a real world person only or that she doesn’t have a specifically FTL identity? That could leave open a Neverland identity for her perhaps.

The ship in the picture of the nursery has a white flag with a red cross. That represents St. Georges cross. Here’s a link to it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swedish_Rite
Now, England’s St. George’s Cross flag is also white with a red cross but it is not triangular as the one above.
Then is St George = King George in FL ❓
St. George is a prominent saint who is best known for slaying a dragon, which may have been where A and E came up with his name.

ParticipantWe’ve had zombies before on the show….wouldn’t put it past Regina….
(Also funny cause SMG and MJR were on Walking Dead right, there’s a meta-joke if they are shown in a scene with a zombie).I’m really curious what Regina did do with him. She didn’t kill Hansel and Gretel’s father, so why Kurt? Did she have the wonderland mirror?
On the “how many worlds” front, we know that Regina could pull in people she wanted but something kept out those she did not, like say, Whale’s brother. Did she have to actively exclude them or was it just default they were not pulled in from other worlds unless she wanted the person? So what I imagined is her curse went : Everyone in FTL + these specific people– Whale, Jefferson, (other characters we haven’t met who have history with her).
I also wonder–was Anton stil in FTL because the beanstalk is a kind of constant portal between worlds, rather than the bean which is a temporary one? Or was it Cora’s bubble that kept him in?
Side note: How come SB beans don’t have a big old stalk even though “mature” enough for magic beans?

ParticipantA dinghy is a small boat, like you might row to shore when you can’t dock a larger boat.
I’m not full on Hookriel. My first thought on it was “Say Whhhaaaaat?”. Then I started to see the potential of giving Hook a displaced royalty background (I thought Barie’s line was a reference to someone born out of wedlock to a royal father/mother to a commoner….). I imagine him growing up between two worlds, sort of parallel to Ariel but yes, also Emma. Another bonus, it could add depth to his relationship with Milah without requiring screen time with that character. They’d have this parallel of being looked down upon by a rigid society not for her/his own deeds but those of another (coward husband/unmarried father & mother).
The one thing I think is true of CS versus Hookriel is that Emma is central to the story, and it would be hard to add Ariel as another central character without displacing some other character. Not impossible, but I think a large part of the appeal for CS for people is that Emma is already not just a central character (like Belle) but a main lead.
I’m not die-hard anything though–all I want is a good story with a smattering of romantic sub-plots alongside the action, adventure and drama. The comments about how Hook is now thinking of moving on after seeing Rumpel finding love (though I say Lacey with Rumpel is not love….!) make me think Hook is going to try to do the same pretty soon. It almost means people can stop downplaying the depth of Hook’s feelings for Milah, since there is not a “one love only” rule apparently in the writers minds. There was a tweet on that point recently I think.
EDIT: As I fixed a typo I noticed something–how old do people think Hook is in terms of his effective mental age? Chronologically yes, he is 300 whatever. I think he’s the same mental age more or less as when he went to NL.

I’m not keen simply because Ariel is supposed to be very, very young- like 16 young, which is to young to fall for a 30 something pirate (with 300 odd yrs of experiences) imo anyway (I’d rather her fall for a young Prince Eric than Hook)
Emma is only 28 years old –compared to 300 years of experiences that’s not much different than 16, which of course, isn’t a necessary quality for Ariel. Mermaids, like any fantastic creature, can also have an agelessness to them, especially if there’s a mash up of Neverland with Ariel ‘s story. Since this is a CS thread though, people are obviously going to prefer to see Hook as 30 in terms of his mental age, and a better fit with Emma, than with an immortal creature type personality for Ariel.

Slightly off topic, but like with Emma/Neil, it does concern CS….. Anyone else having reservations over hints that Hook/Ariel maybe being paired? I’m not keen simply because Ariel is supposed to be very, very young- like 16 young, which is to young to fall for a 30 something pirate (with 300 odd yrs of experiences) imo anyway (I’d rather her fall for a young Prince Eric than Hook) & if they made her obviously mid- late 20’s (like the rest of the Disney princesses on the show), she wouldn’t really be ‘Ariel’ anymore, but more a red haired rip off of Splash- if that makes sense?
As I think Demileto pointed out on another thread–youth is not really that central to Ariel’s character any more than it is for the other princesses. Snow is 15 in the original animated movie version, and they’ve doubled her age give or take few years. The important part about Ariel was she was fascinated with another culture, and fell in love, made a deal to be human instead of a mermaid. Yes, Splash has those themes in a way too but was set entirely in the modern world and was partially about what happens when the “real world” crashes in on a creature from the fantastical world. So the guy was an ordinary guy, not a pirate let alone the well-known classic character of Hook, nor were there all the other fairytale & classic characters who would be involved too.
If Ariel is made to be an interesting character in her own right, and involved in plots beyond just a romance arc for Hook, that would work for me.

I don’t get why they would say “a town full of people he grew up with”. Only 3 he would know would be his father, Blue and Hook. No one else was around when he was, nearly 300 years ago.
Yes that IS odd. The only thing I could think is that maybe Bae grew up from 14 to 24 in SB while Gold had no idea who he was (and somehow he hid from Regina…..)..but I don’t think that would make much sense. He was trying to get away from magic–why would he go to SB and live there? No one would remember him (other than Regina) because of the “fog” effect, so he would have gone through what Henry did…..
