ParticipantGood catch! Apparently people’s ability to overhear in the diner varies…because of course Tamara has no problem hearing about August and she was not that much further away.
The best explanation I have is that Emma was talking to someone else and sometimes you just don’t focus on other conversations to process what is said even if you hear the sounds. Happens all the time to me anyway.

I really do not think Emma and Hook are ever going to trust each other enough to have any sort of relationship.
I think they have too much chemistry not to at least try. I think Emma can help Hook move past Milah and his revenge and that Hook can help Emma learn to forgive and trust again.
Also, I know this may not matter a whole lot, but Adam and Eddy will never hear the end of it if they don’t give CaptainSwan at least a few episodes.
The writers send out a lot of mixed signals on Hook, Emma and Neal’s romantic futures. The show itself might be foreshadowing something, but it could be anything. They haven’t made anything clear yet, except that Tamara does not have true love for Neal.
Let’s assume for the moment, that what Neal feels for Tamara is not the result of magic or scientific manipulation. How is Neal going to react when he finds out about Tamara? Relieved that he can now be honest about still loving Emma, or is he going to feel like Emma in Manhattan when she was yelling about being played, hurt and heartbroken? If you assume some kind of manipulation, then he’d probably be relieved and happy to be free of the relationship. What state do the writers want Neal to be in? I think right now, they want him confused. When the Tamara arc plays out, I’m not sure where they want him to be. I don’t think they are going to put Emma with anyone this season in a definite Snow and Charming or even a Belle/Rumple type relationship that’s clearly marked as such for even the most casual viewer to get. So they may not ever reveal why Neal ended up with Tamara beyond what they have already shown, but we can guess from how he eventually ends up reacting when he finds out about her deception. Assuming he isn’t dead as a result of it! If the writers want an emotional gut punch, that would do it for me.

Perhaps Rumple and Regina will agree to take care of the other’s problem.
Regina will take care of Tamara so that Bae doesn’t blame Rumple and Rumple will take care of Greg so Henry doesn’t blame Regina.
This made me think of a OUAT take on “Throw Momma from the train?”(Isn’t that based on another film?) Rumpel has a bit of Billy Crystal like wryness at times, but the comparison between Regina and Danny Devito’s character makes me 😆 .

ParticipantIt is interesting …Tamara has ties to Rumpel (deceiving his son) and Greg to Regina (he has probably blamed her since). Will the need to unite against those two bring Regina and Rumpel’s feud back down to a low simmer ? Trouble has a way of doing that.

Yes, you may be onto something there. Remember the “dream realm” where sleeping curse people went? That seemed connected to all worlds.
I also think the Dragon is out there, that Tamara just forced him out of his shell form in this world.
Also, with his wisecrack to August “For someone who spent his entire life running, you think you would be in better shape…”…maybe he is Mushu….it would sound sassier in Eddie Murhphy’s voice, but I got a hint of attitude from the Dragon in OUAT.

I think Regina could be infertile. Not only did she and Leopold have no children in the EF, but she and Graham never had a child in SB, where there was no magic. Unless Regina used regular birth control methods in our world, it seems like she’d eventually have fallen pregnant naturally. It seems like she really wanted a child by the time she got to SB to fill the hole in her heart. She probably wouldn’t use birth control since she really wanted to be a mother. If she were able to conceive a child, she would have done so when Graham spent every night in her bed. Perhaps she tried for 18 years to get pregnant, before she finally gave up and adopted Henry.
😆 😳 Lol Imagine her systematically seducing the men in town trying to find a sperm donor if she thought Graham was shooting blanks.
I think the time loopiness also had something to do with her wait and inability to have a child, and why she did not just take a baby in SB already. She could have had Cinderella induced for example, but perhaps the magic would not have allowed that to happen.

A little Love Potion #9, so to speak…[SNIP]
Revision: I was sort of thinking of this a minute ago, but remembered some other stuff. “Love Potion #9” was an early 90s movie with Sandra Bullock where these two scientists experiment on a love potion the guy gets from a gypsy.
The first thing Tamara wanted to do was experiment and test the potion she got from the Dragon, and Greg Mendel is the name of a scientist. I can’t recall what thread it was in, but someone mentioned something about GOAT (yes, I love that!) combining magic and science, which is what Dr Frankenstein/Whale did.
Great points!
I love the reference to Love Potion #9…that song is now in my head 😆 . I posted something about GOAT (GregOwen And Tamara) working together. Your idea that they synthesized something is even better (and maybe that’s why they are into each other too….workplace accident?).
Pinocchio made a reference to the magic versus science thing, with his line that magic, nor science could cure him. Which is odd, because actually magic could cure him if he were brave, truthful and unselfish….unless that’s a reference to living a good life and being saved by God? Pinnochio does say Thank God earlier when talking to the Dragon, and we haven’t seen a whole lot of the expectation of divine intervention in the show though, just references to fate or destiny. I think he just says it as the common expression of intense relief, not a religious declaration. Anyway, I think Tamara very well could have slipped Neal something.
If not, I agree that Phee also has a good theory, that Neal was just trying to move on. Sometimes people do start relationships with another in the hope they will get over someone they think they cannot have. They may even experience love and stand by the commitment they make (or already made, like in Jane Eyre), even when the “true love” returns to the scene. Stories play that out as a tragic sad state of affairs, or as in OUAT, the second choice lover is then shown to be BatShipcrazy.

ParticipantOne question about the dark fairy theory, but how do fairies breed in the enchanted Forest? In the Peter Pan mythology, they come from a human baby’s first laugh. They don’t exactly have mothers or fathers. I suppose maybe they adopt each other or there could be some other way Tamara might have a “family blood feud” thing going. Or it is her own personal history that sets her against those in SB?
I’m leaning toward Tamara being completely of this world, but fits into the sort of stories about magic/alien/paranormal collectively “weird stuff” hunters/researcher types.
I like the Tiana idea, but the only thing is, would it be too obscure of a character reference for most of the audience? While the Princess and the Frog’s source story is old enough, this particular version and setting is not even a decade old.
