Regina needs someone strong willed, and someone who uses their power for the right reasons. Someone like that would help to support her in being a good person, but would also understand the mindset of where she comes from.
I agree with what you’ve said, and in particular, this bit about Regina needing to learn that she doesn’t have to hurt others to be powerful or happy, or to “win”. .She can’t turn into someone who’s all “others first, making a noble sacrifice,” because she wouldn’t be the same character if she changed that much. But she isn’t ready yet, I think, for a love interest. She has to wrap up things with her mother first and reject the philosophy that love is weakness and all that matters is power.
I also like Robin Hood…but as you said, if the writers have cast someone already, especially with a 1 shot dead-end plot in mind, it sort of uses up the character, but maybe they have in mind exactly the same thing, and the character is intended as a potential love interest….. I just am not sure Regina is ready at this point in the story

Personally, I do not support BugQueen, or HopperQueen! I mean come on guys, really, stick Regina with the bug, while everyone else has their knight in shining armor! Preferably, on the real note, I prefer an OC (New Character) for Regina! I can’t believe people are suggesting this, they have two sessions, and people on board! Bring Daniel back from the grave, don’t stick a QUEEN with a BUG! Emma has a higher chance, as her and Archie have had more scenes! I’m mortified at the mere thought! Snow has David a prince, Emma has Captain Hook and Neal, both pro at the sword! Ruby might have Whale, a doctor! But we stick one of the hottest women, Queen Regina with an original form cricket, who loves an umbrella, and is a therapist, with a name like Archie! I Love Jiminy Cricket, but dears, CricketQueen is just wrong! I’d prefer her with Neal before that!
She was only the Queen, because she married Snow’s father. Though she did appear to be at least some kind of “noble” before that, she was happy with a stable boy herself. Still, I see your point, that there’s a kind of glamor to Regina that maybe doesn’t fit with Archie’s very plain personality.
I also would prefer a new character, especially a very interesting, famous tale one. Though I’m not sure what type…someone who is also a villain? An Anti-hero? She rejected the Genie, and didn’t fall for Leopold.
I’m trying to think of characters who might have interesting stories to twist too….
1) Merlin
2) Dracula
3) Headless Horseman
4)Van HelsingOr if they can make Jack into Jacqueline, why not do the reverse….like Alice becomes Alex or something.

Personally- I don’t think the actress did that great of a job.
She did not have much to work with, let’s be fair. It was a VERY short scene, and as the other poster said, I also thought she came off better than I’d hoped.
They didn’t make her scream “shrewish other woman, waiting to be dumped, to resolve forced romantic triangle!”, like so many movies/shows do when setting up a romantic triangle just to create an obstacle for the main couple (they eventually softened Kathrine a bit, but at first the whole Kathrine/David/MM triangle came off that way to me). Instead, Tamara seemed to me to be kind of cool. Her fiance shows up, says he has to get out of town, and is with some strange woman she’s never met, and she stays calm, friendly even. Concerned, but of course she should be. She doesn’t give Emma the stink eye or nag Neal.
As for Tamra not knowing, or Neal not having told Tamara about Emma and Henry, well, I imagine he simply didn’t have time or the right moment to do so. That is not the kind of thing you want to do over the phone or worse, in a text!
The same with telling Emma about Tamara. First, he was more concerned about his father when they met in the bar, then after finding out about Henry, he was focused on that. By the time they were just getting to a point where he could bring up Tamara, his father gets stabbed..so I don’t fault him on that either, the way the scenes played out.
And has Emma told Neal that Henry has an adopted mother, or anything about Cora yet? I’m sure we will get this scene soon, but at this point in the story, there is a lot of information that many characters have not shared.Any new character takes time to kind of blend into the story, and I’m willing to trust ( for now!) this will go somewhere more interesting than just a triangle for the sake of it.

ParticipantMary Poppins….I really want to see Regina with Baby Henry being overwhelmed, and thinking I need help, and poof, Mary shows up….and for a twist, have her not be part of the curse!

I want Snow to kill Cora because I want Regina to see just what hatred and bitterness looks like from the outside in. She’s far too close to her mother to really see things objectively, and she herself has so much sadness and bitterness inside her it’s affecting her thoughts. However, if she were to see just how it feels to have somebody you love taken from you, then she might actually begin to change.
However, I don’t think Cora will go down that easily. I can, however, see her faking her own death so that Snow thinks she’s killed her. After all, she wants to turn Snow’s heart black, and murder will do that.
Losing someone she loved (Daniel) was what started Regina down her dark path in the first place. Losing her mother, especially if it happens before Regina acknowledges that her mother deserves to die, is going to make her that much more resentful and hateful. It is an interesting parallel, but Bae fights to save Rumple, despite knowing his father is capable of great evil. We are supposed to think he is doing the right thing, the heroic thing, because you save family.

It also reiterates that Regina is blind to her mother’s manipulations – she rationally knows Cora is a puppet master but she can’t emotionally bring herself to process what this means for her life and losses.
I agree, and that’s why I don’t think the game would change for Regina if she found out Cora ‘s manipulation was greater than she previously thought. Snow’s betrayal was always a petty reason for Regina to have the degree of hatred she has for Snow, let alone the degree of anger she has to everyone and everything besides Henry.

This is best answered from an excerpt of the original post of the “Spoilers from Paleyfest on this episode!” thread on this forum:The next scene is Regina and Cora. Regina comments that their plan will not work now because the Charmings know they have the dagger and Henry would be able to trace the blame to them. They are tapping the phone listening to a conversation between Emma and Snow and discover Rumple is injured. (There is a very funny moment when Cora knocks the device off the desk and says “I don’t like what the enchanted box is saying!”) They look at the dagger and realize he is more than just injured, he is dying. His name is disappearing from the dagger. Cora says they must change their plans…she is going to stab Rumple and become the dark one. If Rumple dies on his own, the dark magic just desolves. Regina questions her mom’s motives.
Ok,so even though originally I thought it was an unlikely scenario….it seems Cora will try to become the Dark One directly….and if she did, what would happen if Snow killed her via candle after that point? Would the Dark One curse simply end, or would Snow become the Dark One…? I mean, they hinted at “Dark Snow”…now that would be a twist.

ParticipantHm…someone suggested that Cora would stab Rumple, become the new Dark One, but what would happen if Snow used the candle on Cora when she is the Dark One? Would she be the 4th new Dark One (Zoso, Rump, Cora…)? I still don’t see Cora doing that, because she only needs to control Rump. So if the person controlling the Dark One is Killed, I don’t think the killer automatically gets control….

My issue with the theory though is that if Princess Eva is the sister of Prince Henry, that would mean Prince Henry is also Cora’s half-brother by sharing the same father, King Xavier. Yet, I believe Cora’s love interest is supposed to be Prince Henry, so that would be incestuous, even if she didn’t know he was her half-brother. Yikes! I don’t think Disney would let Adam and Eddy go that far on a family show. 😕
Why would Eva have to be Henry’s sister for this theory? There’s several Kingdoms that have been mentioned in the show–Midas, George, Leopold and probably others. It’s possible that Cora is the illegitimate daughter of Eva’s father in one Kingdom, but she sets her sights on marrying up into a neighboring, poorer kingdom, ruled by Henry Sr’s Father. So then there’s no direct incestuousness…except that Cora marries her daughter to her half-sister’s husband Leopold, I suppose.
I’m thinking Eva and Cora were friends, maybe even best friends, until something happened one day, and for one reason or another, Cora’s status as the miller’s daughter became an issue.
Another thing that could be, is that they were cousins.I don’t think the writers are going to be so elaborate, but they could bring in the fairy tale of Puss in boots, which also has a Miller. The tale goes that there are 3 sons of a Miller. The Miller dies and leaves his oldest the mill, and the youngest gets a talking cat who sneakily and cleverly helps the youngest son to get married to a Princess and become King. (I am totally imagining the Puss character would be Rumple somehow!) So if those two sons had daughters, one would be a Princess (Eva) , and the other would be the Miller’s daughter (Cora).

I was just about to say pretty much what Schmacky ^ just said. I agree that they’re half sisters, and Cora is the product of an affair.
Eva’s father could have had a thing with a maid in the castle, (which, come on, happened all the time,) which would add a lot of weight to the line about knowing what it’s like to “be the miller’s daughter”, if Cora knew that her real father was the king. I’m definitely placing my bets on it, and maybe even that they grew up together, Cora as like her handmaid or childhood companion. (In the clocktower, she snapped at Johanna, calling her a handmaid, and putting quite a bit of bitterness behind that word.)
And for the record, I called this ages ago! Haha 🙂
Hmm…that’s interesting…and makes Henry’s family tree even more messed up!
