(Assuming the writers don’t break continuity/make plot hole by having Whale be in the EF with everyone who was sent “home” …)

ParticipantI think the significance of the moment was a call-back to when the Charmings claimed Rumple as family but he rejected them and defended Snow as only a favor owed. So I felt it was the opposite of his “imp” wheeling-dealing-misleading creepy side. He’s come along way from that mentality, and it sets up his sacrifice in the next episode.
Perhaps it is also setting up Belle bonding with the Charmings more during Rumple’s absence, because of the connections. I could see Snow taking her under her wing, the way Ruby once took in Snow.
Does anyone else feel it is odd that Snow and Belle separately formed friendships with Grumpy, Ariel and Ruby, yet have never interacted with each other very much? Anyway, at the end of the day I feel Rumple’s had moments before of showing tenderness towards family and even if he might in some ways still have his defenses in terms of how he expresses himself, there was no ominous foreshadowing there, just contrast to his prior mode of operation.

ParticipantSpeculation thoughts I could see that making sense, but right now I’m not expecting the dreamcatcher to really trigger anything. I don’t see the writers revealing Emma’s emotions just yet. They’re having too much “fun” with things the way they are. I do think we might get a crystal ball scene, because the writers love to show Neal looking upset plus it is one of the Oz items to connect to Wicked.

ParticipantIt is a sign of their writing and planning process being off to make a mistake so alike to one made by the LOST team with Nikki and Paolo. They made the twists too convoluted, the suspension of disbelief just too much but most of all, they lost a really good opportunity to explore the theme they talked about in interviews : what happens when a real ordinary person gets caught up?
In a lot of ways, Emma used to be the audience surrogate, showing us those reactions but she was by then an “insider” to contrast to the “outsider”. So either Greg or Tamara could have been showing us contrasting reactions of “real world” people, one who becomes afraid and hateful (Greg perhaps) and one who becomes supportive and protective (and it would have been a much more interesting story that way).
Instead they went for outrageous plot twists, plot devices that screamed so loud they broke suspension of disbelief, and regression for characters rather than development. So many missed opportunities and now it feels like a wasted story arc. The Dragon and August’s experiences for example were just a one-off way to set up that Tamara and August had tangled before so she could “kill” him so they could write the actor out more.

ParticipantBack from holiday travel…sigh of relief. Lot of fun things here.
My favorite moments were the moments of Emma really looking at Neal and seeing how she feels sympathetic or empathetic to what is happening to him, or even impressed by what he is doing. She spent years wondering why, then trying to turn her hurt into anger and resentment at him, based on a false idea of what sort of person he had to be to leave her. Once she knew his reason to leave was bound up in magic, destiny and fate, that neither of them ever stopped loving each other despite outwardly, genuinely feeling like they moved on, that what is between them is a real, complicated thing, it forced her to rethink what type of person she thought he is.
From the moment he claimed Henry, to her seeing his cave, telling Regina that Neal taught her things, seeing Neal forgiving his father, to reuniting with Wendy, his apologies and patience, seeing him lose his father, all of it created moments we saw Emma seeing in Neal the qualities that probably made her fall for him years ago. She was not put off by his careless cocky criminal side that much, but I think it was the brave, loyal, caring guy that touched her heart before, and it is his steady sincerity that will (if A&E write this thing to follow the breadcrumbs we discuss here) reach her again.

ParticipantWell, i think he is someone she meet during this past year. And my reason to say this is that this is not SB. this means that Regina only fake memories in henry and emma, not in the whole world, this would mean that everyone that meet emma from the moment she was arrested until the moment she went to Sb, knows that emma swan doesn’t have a child, and i don’t see for example, someone that help her in becaming a bails bong, going to dinner with her and dont ask her about how she going , and she like all proud mom would talk about henry and he would say that she doesn’t have a child. i dont go with the foster brother, theory, becuase the only important family she had was the swans, but they gave her up because they had another children, this means that this brother would be younger, and no way they can pass chris for someone younger than jen. Also why would be important to emma and to the story. he cannot be someone she meet before neal, because if he is important that would mean that we should have heard about him, specially in S1 when emma talked about her past with MM. i also don’t believe that she meet him whole she was with neal, beacuse from what we saw in 2×06, they only trust each other, not everyone else and was always on the run. that is why i think that chris character is someone that she meet in the past year, but who i don’t know, although i totally see a Adam and eddie putting a a boyfriend, let’s not forget that in her memories she has henry, so probably no night stands for emma. And since jen said that this fake live would somehow show a diferent emma, i totally she her having met someone during this live and those feelings being mix up with the triangle ones, specially since she will remenber about neal and everything that happened to him and about the kiss with hook. this is only my opinion, based on the fact that i find this fake memories of emma and henry in real world very confusing, like, how emma explains that in henry legal docs has Regina has a mother, becuase Regina only put diferent memories, didn’t made fake docs., or put money in emma account, like i said she could do that in a close town like Sb, but no In real world. that is the only way i see it him being important to emma, that beacuse of this fake memories she opened her heart to someone else, and that was when she remenbered, because the emma we know will be crushed when she remenbers that everything was a lie, except this past year, that was when she meet this new guy.
I agree up until you say the legal documents could not be changed. I think the magic that fakes credit cards and documents for people who were not existing in the real world, plus create an entire town, could do a bit more in the real world than change Henry and Emma’s memories.
The magic could even potentially fog memories of anyone who ever met Emma for all we know along with a magical hack of records and documents. It could not change the past outright but it could come close by changing anything in the present that might give away what the past was. Magic could be written however A&E decide and hard to argue unless contradicts the rules set in show–but even then, rule in ONCE universe is it is possible to change the rules (see Jafar’s quest in WL) so all bets are off.

ParticipantI’ll be traveling but I’ll enjoy the goodies later. I wish I could do graphic edits as well but not good at it and little time enough with holiday stuff to do!

ParticipantShe does not even need to be in the scene, just name dropped as an explanation.
I think if we ever see Blue back story her name should be Deus Ex Machina not Rheul Ghorem.

ParticipantSweetgrass–I’m so confused by your post. Malcolm is Pan’s core. In both persona’s, he wants to play and fool people all day, not living up to his responsibility to be a father. Malcolm drank to forget his cares, and played card shark games but Pan had pixie dust and more violent gambling games. He did have some more ambition and leadership potential, but I took it as Malcolm growing more powerful over the centuries leading to that cockiness in Pan. As Malcolm he had little to nothing, but both only cared about Rumple to the extent he might be useful in some way. He was a user either way.
Anyway, it wouldn’t make sense now to change it, fun as it may be to speculate on what they could have done.
Wicked Regal: I suppose it is possible that Cora had an affair and gave the child away or had twins and hid one, but we’ll have to see how they approach it.
I’d rather they go back to fill in the blanks on breadcrumbs already sprinkled then just drop in this half-baked loaf of a new child never hinted or spoken about before. We know Maleficient and Regina had a relationship enough to call each other “old friends” and we know Maleficient held the curse. Regina used her in a very particular and extra-special horrible way as the guardian of her fail-safe. Although Regina did not kill her, the people who more directly did are all sort of out of reach of WWW, if she’d even care about the details. Fact is, Regina cast that curse to send all curses and there really ought to be some vengeful villainous types who are “so not ok with it” and out for Regina’s blood.
That is a story I would want to see rather than some more Pan-Rumple-tortured messed up family dynamic thing again.
If they have to put her on the family tree, then I’d say let’s explore Charmings, but not sure how they would do it so as not to create the feeling that there was a lack of foreshadowing there.

ParticipantAny objects made by the curse existed if Emma took them with her across the town line. That’s why Henry still had his clothes, and Graham’s shoelace was still on her wrist.
It is possible she has her baby blanket and other items in a box in her car. Regina could have cast a spell to instantly summon objects for Henry and Emma, along with the car as they all ran to the town line. How’d they even get to the town line spot if the curse was from all sides from the well? There was only one car in the scene, and it’s implied to be a fair distance from Town every time we’ve seen someone go down the danger road in S1.
So I’m just going to imagine Regina used almost everything she had in a series of spells to get Henry and Emma set up for a new life, not caring about what would happen to her afterwards very much.
I think the baby blanket is one that would make a lot of sense. The question for me is, the BF potion needed to be consumed out of the talisman they said –so Sneezy drank from his stein and Belle from her cup.
I cannot think of a container like thing for Emma. I suppose it’s a different spell so convenient potion is conveniently different.
