I thought of something about the shoes.  First though a note about copyright.  You cannot copyright general ideas but the specific form of them you can.  So basically there’s some rules but there’s leeway about it, whether that is they make a deal upfront or just check with their own legal experts about “how close is too close”.  And as a few of us mentioned, the underlying books are public domain now, so names like Dorothy and Oz are up for grabs.  So they definitely cannot copy or use MGMs actual images but 2 words like ruby slippers in a sentence from characters that have nothing to do with Oz or Dorothy is more removed.

If we ever see a pair of red shoes (and Hans Christian Anderson had a gruesome tale about some), odds are they won’t look much like the MGM movie because again, avoiding getting too close.

So what if the WWW/WWE used the shoes instead of Dorothy and came to the Land Without Magic whatever we calculated as x years before curse, and was living in NYC?  So this new villain comes to SB from outside its borders, but from within the real world.  There is the saying that just because you are paranoid does not mean they are out to get you.  So what if there were actually other  magic creatures besides the dragon, who escaped the Home Offfice  (especially as we know magic elimination was a front used by the true leader Pan).

This is OUAT so twisting and one-offs aren’t going to get confused with the original material which is probably why they’re able to get the copyright on characters they have, though I’m sure there were some negotiations and payments made.  After all it is better to have an agreement then the expense of a court case after

    A pretty Holiday thing!

    These edits are so cute.

I think they could do a nod and name check Elsa and a frozen world in an epiode when the DVD comes out in the spring maybe if the timing works.

I agree context is everything. It says little about J.Mo’s  opinions on Emma’s priorities on one man versus  the other.

That said  it speaks a lot to the  narrative POV in this one media interview about Emma’s priorities.

The interview is Henry and 3 parents not Love Triangle (yay!). As always the questions they asked probably did hint  in that direction of the plot black hole of Emma and “her two handsome guys”.  What is interesting is the writer did not bring or edit Hook into it regardless of how J.Mo phrased her answer.   This season it seemed like even a request for scoop on Neal prompted some answer about Hook (not even when in relation to a question asked about Emma).

The same happens to the Charmings when people asked if we see more of them in flashbacks  the answer was Yes, wait until you see who told Regina about Charming breaking the curse!  So to finally see ONE interview that talks about Neal without any name check of Hook stood out this season.  There were many last season but this season as I said not so much.

I wonder what ending the writers had in mind whether a new generation of fairy tale characters populate the EF or whether it is SB itself existing like the Harry Potter world.

Either way, I think maybe I might be getting my hopes up here for some kind of Neal poster because really it looks beyond odd now to have every other cast member have one with a phrase and not Neal.  So if they do release his, it would be like this: Emma was the last one of the Jr6 set, and Neal would be the last of what I’ll call the “Love interests” set.  (First Belle as romantic, then Henry as filial/object of paternal and maternal love and finally Neal–combining it all with his roles as love interest, father and son).    Yes, Belle is the object of parental love sort of from Mo but I’m making this shippy and talking about within the main cast.   While they are not in NL anymore, Pan is not really dead so the arc is continuing.

I don’t know, maybe they’ll stay in SB, and they’ll drive off with “Just married” on the bug.    I’m not even sure how I see the show sort of officially concluding their story in my shippy dreams.

What I do know is that there’s a glacial pace to their relationship.  The writers held back a lot of things that they know about Neal and maybe there are even more they don’t know yet themselves.

I’ve got lots of questions about Emma but we’ve spent more time with her.  So while I wonder if she ever had a good, stable family for a few years, why she left Boston for Portland, who taught her to drive and steal cars, then did she ever have any friends at all…it’s not like these glaring mysteries.

Neal on the other hand, how did he get out of NL? What does he think about Hook now and how did it change from centuries ago in NL, and how well did he know Tink?   Did she help him to escape? Why did he end up in NJ instead of in London?  What was he doing in NY as a career to enable him to move off the streets and afford nice wool coats and scarves?  Does he believe Rumple killed Milah?  Does he remember her much? Why was he exiled in a cave, and seemingly unaware of the Thinking Tree?  How’d he learn about the shadow and coconuts, and the squid?  How did he not ever realize Wendy was on the island and Pan’s prisoner?   Wendy seemed to know Tink, so another puzzling bit there.

They have 2 more episodes to go in this half of the season.  While I am absolutely interested in present day things for SF, and seeing how Neal and Rumple and Darlings  play into and affect his relationship with Emma romantically and as part of the trio of parents, it still would be nice to learn more about his past alone, but most of all about the night in the alley.  I am still hoping that picture Ginny tweeted with MRJ in “portland” clothes really means there’s a backstory episode for Neal to fill in the blanks.

I think now that they found some wonderland mushrooms on Hook ship that Pan threw in the stew and they are literally on a mind trip  😛

In Snow’s defense here, she’s not thinking of the Medusa as a “person” but more like  a monster creature.  I guess we have to wait to see what she knows about it but even Belle & Mulan were out to kill the Yagoi, not realizing it was not a creature but a cursed man.  I think if Snow realized she was dealing with a sentient creature capable of peaceful co-existence she might think differently than a mythical monster that hurts those unfortunate enough to get near and has no reasoning skills.

Ok spoilers about the latest TV guide article about this next episode, about the way J.Mo phrased something.  She says she’s not ready to think about Neal or “anyone else.” So all season long they could not stop dropping Hook’s name every few seconds, could barely reference Neal, and now suddenly it is Neal (by name) and Hook (by generic place holder ) ?  It feels like the marketing strategy has gone upside down now!

lol Kranen you beat me to it.

Let’ s see, I am going to go with she’s Snow’s aunt, Eva’s sister.  Since they had the “slippers” line about Eva and Eva was good (when she got older) maybe she is one of the witches, and this new villain is Glinda the evil sister mashed into the Wicked Witch of the West (so both characters).

So that makes her Emma’s grandaunt.

Though I think we really need more of Charming’s family so what if she’s Charmigng’s aunt instead, his father’s sister?
