Well it is always the  story they want to tell at the time they do their story camps each season, not the story they originally wanted to tell in their heads when they first started.    I bet some of their idealism has fallen away, especially with WL’s demise when they had more hopes for that to do well.   So I don’t think they’re going to be sticklers for a vision, especially one that was probably only hastily sketched out due to not knowing rights issues, and how long things would go.

If SF is not their choice, whether now or from start of S2, then at the least I want the writing of it to play out with what they hinted in the show, and confirmed as their interpretation out of the show.

They don’t have to make Neal a bad guy in order to make Hook the man Emma loves, for love is just something that doesn’t always have to be logical or about who is the “better” person, but about the person that fits you.  Rumbelle is the poster child of that, right? Belle could walk into town and meet just about any one who’d be less morally tortured than Rumple, but he’s the man she loves all the same.

Especially if they’re going into “Dark Emma” territory, then it could be that is something that creates a divide between Neal and Emma but a bridge between Hook and Emma as he might not feel as wary of it.   If Emma herself changes from who I thought she was in S1/S2, then maybe Hook would fit with her better.   In stories, anything can shift.

Bottom line, I don’t want Neal’s character trashed so a ship can be pushed, because that’s not good writing.   Having Neal pull a Katherine or something, well I’d be sad for SF but I wouldn’t be mad about the writing of it.     So when it comes to the  bit about Neal’s past behavior though, well I will feel lied to if suddenly we go from :

@tutusunshine @KDW3000 @fictorium Neal never sent her to jail. Not what happened. And MRJ understands his character better than anyone.

    — Adam Horowitz (@AdamHorowitzLA) May 3, 2013

to he did it for kicks, so they can make Hook look like a better guy.

As Matthew Paul said, there’s a lot to tell with August that was sort of swept under the rug as well, but if they only mean kid August, they may not get into it or need to get into it to address what happened with Neal and Emma in the past.

I forgot to cry about TinkerMomma!  There was such a beautiful potential story there, that the only thing to console me is that if the Spinner-Fate-Rumple Momma works, then Tinkermomma would have been redundant and kind of odd.

Then again, it’s sad not to know more about Belle’s family either, but I suppose we should see Charming’s dad first.

I  think some answers are going to be getting clearer very soon though, based on those spoilers.

If they’re really going to address the situation with Neal leaving and Emma ending up  in jail, and not rewrite it, then that’s good.  If they rewrite so it was “Neal sent her to jail” or “He could have stayed but was a coward and afraid for himself”–which previously they said on twitter was not the case….well, then its going to tell me they’ve flipped completely for CS.   That’s a huge sort of retcon, and it wouldn’t be the first one of the show.

The scenes of Regina with baby Henry seem like they’re going to forget originally there was supposed to be a hole in her heart from the curse and that she didn’t have real maternal warmth, so much as pride and control over someone, the way Cora was with her.  I don’t know, but I guess I’m going to feel nervous about how they tackle things in this new “villain as heroes” era.

I have some hope that they started off this season with Neal using magic, and saying he loves Emma, doesn’t own her, then telling her she doesn’t have to apologize ever.  Then they had him say he’ll fight for her.  It felt like they were tackling all the troll-standard claims of why SF would be bad and for each one sort of saying, nope.

Yet this is a BIG one, the heart of a lot of the controversy, right next to his relationship with Tamara.    Did he use Emma for selfish reasons?  It’s always been a matter of interpretation, and heated debate.  So if they really go back and revisit, they could swing it whatever suits their current needs in the story.   Everything that happened this season was written months ago, so as fan feedback came in, perhaps they made adjustments, because they did heavily float CS this season.

I’ve always based my assumptions of  SF working on the notion that  Neal didn’t ever do anything cowardly to hurt Emma on purpose.  He left for what I thought was good reason.  He did it in a way that maybe had flaws but we could understand perhaps was required by the urgency and complicated nature of a magical curse that needed to be broken.  I trusted that Neal trusted August and that it was not obvious to him he shouldn’t believe him.  So I don’t know.  The jail storyline could come up in different ways.  It could just be dialog between Neal and Emma.  I’d rather we have flashbacks though because I want to see that Neal didn’t call the cops, perhaps even that he didn’t know about the jail.  I suppose whatever he did, well, its still all over with now but it does speak to his character back then.

If Pinocchio does die because all the magic is ripped out of SB, that might be one way to have a new curse.  His “death” might prompt discussion of how Neal knew him and all that.  The other thing is, they actually do the thing a lot of fans want, and bring back August.  If Malcom comes back from Pan, maybe there’s a ripple effect and we get back August so that was why the hat was floating in a spoiler picture.  If they’re listening to fans, then bringing back August was a big one.  If so, August might back up Neal’s story and confess he called the cops or something.  The last way I think is just pure flashbacks with the NY jail story we think they might do.  As we see Neal in present being incarcerated for a crime he didn’t quite commit it would make perfect sense to pair that with who set Emma up for jail–perhaps the same people who helped set her on the path to being a bailbondswoman too!  .

I think if they’re really going to address what happened when Emma went to jail, August might play a role in that so perhaps he is back in flashbacks.

Yep that’s why I like that crack theory in general, and I like the variations Heather added that “Neal cassidy” would need to die for Bae to be reborn in a way.  It is not even a spoiler really as we don’t know half the stuff except that there are scenes in “NY” .

lol Phee, I totally looked that stuff up too, which was why I think it would be about her being reported as missing (and she could have been missing for years far as family was concerned), or her car (which could have been stolen!) or something.  I think there are definitely loose ends to tie up and the whole thing of how Baby Henry got to SB might set up some of it, because even though Pan was in the end just this crazy man with a pile of boys to keep him company, the organization he created could have taken on a life of its own.

I think it is way too soon for Robin/Roland to be on the family tree because of a marriage with Regina.  She did however have cousins possibly with the whole Xavier line and maybe Marian was one of those!  That would mean Roland could be genetically related to Regina (the kid playing Roland is hispanic too I think, like Xavier and Henry. Sr, and of course Lana).   More of the wreath of a family tree business.

The other I think is going to be Charming’s dad as he’s been missing and they need to have a charming centric story, which works welll with Ginny’s pregnancy, and Charming realizing he is going to be a dad again, which might be good for backstory parallel to his own father.

I’m pretty sure the article said beyond PP and Snowing baby, so that’s why I think it has to be something or someone else.

When it comes to spoilers, some days people are like Chicken Little and sometimes they’re like..well what is the opposite of that? I’m sure there’s a folktale that applies.  Maybe something about chickens and hatching eggs.  Anyway, let’s remember context is everything in this show.

At this point, it would be a spoiler because everyone is in NL, and everyone is supposed to be in danger.  That MRJ hasn’t been spotted outdoors doesn’t mean he hasn’t been filming, but I’d think  it means he hasn’t been spotted filming by any of the usual people who follow such things.  I don’t know if the crew does this, but some productions will have a 2ndry unit filiming, perhaps in studio, and the paparazzi are going to go to the outdoor stuff.  So if there were simultaneous indoor things, they’d miss it.     .

As to what Slurpeez said   I think if they had Neal in another land again it would be sort of a rehash, but putting him in jail is a way to create obstacles that doesn’t feel like a cheat.  It also sort of addresses something fans felt, that sort of karma so to speak, ought to catch up with Neal as Emma went to jail for helping him cover up with his crime.  So having him imprisoned for a crime he didn’t really do (that is something to do with Tamara missing) but is guilty about covering up (because presumably, he knows his father killed her or should find it out) would be sort of fitting.  It also wouldn’t make Neal so center-stage that people should get upset.   He’d be “off-screen” a lot in jail, and then everything would be on the other characters to deal with real world consequences.  It could create some awesome funny scenes of our “FTL” wandering around in the real world, always comedy gold when they tap into those moments of fairy tale meets real.  So, on the other hand, if they do something where Neal’s just absent because he got sucked in a portal, well, it’s going to feel like a rehash and super contrived rather than a natural sort of consequence of what’s gone before.     Bringing up Tamara, his past, all of these things are storylines even people who don’t ship SF have said they felt ought to be dealt with (mainly because those who don’t ship it want it to prove something negative about Neal’s depth of feeling for Emma….).   I say, bring it on.  Emma ought to confront Neal about Tamara, how well he knew her, and it should come out that maybe they had separate apartments (seemed like they did) and that while it appeared like he’d “moved on”in important ways, he hadn’t because what he feels for Emma is too strong.  Then as that’s happening, Emma could (say by 3.16 or whatever the anniversary is) close the door on Hook, and they can drag out SF more because knowing you do not want someone doesn’t mean you know you want someone else.  [spoiler]

[spoiler] On the other hand, if they’ve decided to do no holds barred CS, then writing out Neal and having him move to London with the Darlings or some other sort of convenient excuse why he would totally go against his character to stay with Emma and Henry, well  I guess that’s the closest as you can get.  He thought Emma and Neal were all he had, but now he has the Darlings again.   It’s not satisfying to me, because I don’t see him walking out of Henry’s life that way, even if I could see him giving Emma space (and himself if she’s with Hook).

I thought the lead in to the article already counted Snowing and Mal-pan?

even beyond the new addition of Peter Pan as Rumpelstiltskin’s father and recent “baby talk” between Snow White and Prince Charming,

So on the  possibility of  Robin & Roland,  it seems far too soon!  So the other is maybe the Darlings as “adopted” family (but shouldn’t that be 3? Does someone die!?).

I don’t see anyone who isn’t currently in an established mutual relationship getting married right now, so I’d go with Charming’s Dad, and Belle officially being added to the family tree.

I don’t know if he’d get more than a Cora style redemption in death, a sort of realization that he’d been going about his life the wrong way.
