Skin Deep is a wonderful episode which tells a great love story in just 42 mins. Quite difficult given the limit of time. But they really pulled it off.
The scene I love most is Rumpel asked Belle to go to town and brought him some straws. It’s always puzzling to me why he let her go. It’s so against his control freak nature. Then I have to admit he is really really in love otherwise he won’t do something so unselfish. All he wants is her happiness.
Belle is my favorite character of the show. Emilie has done her justice. The performance is great. Belle didn’t love Rumpel because he is powerful but for who he really is (the human self/weakness he hides so deeply). I think that’s really an admirable thing. It’s hard to love people for who they really are because human are imperfect.
Now I am ready to see the less perfect Belle in SB. Also what will Mr. Gold do when he finds out she is alive.

I don’t think Bae is dead but I am with you on other points you made. I don’t think they will rush into their happy ending in season II either. Keep in mind who is writing the stories. They are gonna torture us for sure. But I do believe Belle will play a major role in Rumple’s turn.
I also agree Mr. Gold won’t be dead or the show will be so over. But still can’t tell if he could have a happy ending at the end. So have to keep our fingers crossed.
I try to always keep in mind that what’s going to happen doesn’t really depend on logic or what I expect it to be, but on what the writers will decide! And, from what they usually do, I see a lot of “turn-arounds” and “oh-come-on-don’t-do-that-to-me” coming!
As for why he’s helping Emma to believe, I still haven’t decide if it is because of Bae or his powers. I was willing to bet on the power, but, maybe, he is really changed.
I would say it’s for Bae. When the curse is broken, he will be a freeman and can leave SB to find Bae.
khaleesiParticipantI am so thrilled!!

Me, too. But on the other hand if she died, it would further fuel Rumpel to take down the Queen.
Though I love seeing Rumple go eye to eye with Regina, I don’t want the cost being Belle’s life. That’s too much.

Me too. 😥 I feel weird being this in love with her character. She’s only had 2 episodes. 😆
So am I. Hope she could be more regular in Season II.

I actually felt like Mary was very Snow like in both the conversation with David in Ep 19 and the conversation with Regina in Ep 20. She felt very much herself to me.
Agree. On the other hand, David is so not like Charming. I feel MM/Snow is more man to me.
khaleesiParticipantIt’s much more difficult to forgive someone who is close to you because you have expectations for them. But I think what MM said to Regina is very powerful and right to the point. It shows how miserable Regina’s life is. I nearly pity Regina.

When Rumpel and Belle see each other again, they’re probably not going to rush straight into each others arms. They’ve got a lot of issues to work through.
Rumpel’s already lost Baelfire and might never see him again, so I’m hoping they’re not going to kill off Belle. Belle still being around is Rumpel’s second chance and I have a feeling that Rumpel’s overall story arc is going to be one of redemption and possibly sacrifice. Belle and Baelfire are important to Rumpel, they are the only ones who can redeem him and they are the only ones I can see Rumpel sacrificing himself for. Baelfire could already be dead which would nail down the tragic aspect of Rumpel but if they killed Belle off as well then what reason would Rumpel have to change his evil ways?
I don’t reckon they will kill off Rumpel because he is one of the series’ strongest and most popular characters but if they did, I wouldn’t expect it to be until several seasons down the line.

khaleesiParticipantThough I love Rumple/Belle couple very much, I am just not too optimistic about their happy ending. I worried that either Belle or Rumple will be killed off. Killing Belle makes Rumple a more tragical character. Rumple might also be dead by the end of the series for salvation and redemption probably (to blow our mind).
Anyone can give me some hope?khaleesiParticipantI think Season II will be focused on how to break the curse and get other SB citizens to believe.
But what will happen if the curse is broken? I don’t think they will return to FTL when the curse is broken (like Mat Hatt expects). Rumple creates this specifically to find his son. He wants Emma in SB to free them from this place, because no one can come and leave SB.khaleesiParticipant@*The Looking Glass* wrote:
I agree. I don’t think gaining back his magical powers is what Rumpel is after. He gave his dagger to August for a reason. He created the curse to take him to a land without magic for a reason. He wants to finally be rid of his dark powers so that he can be reunited with his son. I think he’s done with magic…for now.
but he still wants power/money, which has the same effect as magic. He doesn’t want to be weak again. I see nothing has ever changed for Mr. Gold, either in SB or FTL..
