Wow, obisgirl, that’s a great analysis! I’m sure it’ll make pretty decent rounds on tumblr when you post it! 😉

Love is patient, love is kind. This is Hook. He is definitely falling in love with Emma but we’ve also seen, especially in Lost Girl, that he is patient with her. (when she was trying to unlock Pan’s map). He probably knew all along what it took to unlock the map and could have easily told her what to do, but Emma had to figure it out for herself. He is and has always been patient with her whereas he is almost snippy with everyone else.

This is so true. From the very MOMENT they first met he’s been very patient with her, explaining stories to her and admiring her intelligence. *feels*

Skip a little further and we get to the part that parallels Neal: It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking It is the self-seeking part that most reminds me of Neal. Yes, he is finding his way back to Emma but look at how he finding his way back to her. He’s using magic, the one thing he’s hated since he was a kid and used Robin Hood’s most prized possession, his four year old son to get him to Neverland. No matter how you look at it, he is acting selfishly and disregarding safer ways to get what he wants done. And he’s taking shortcuts in order to accomplish his happy ending and we all know magic comes with a price and most certainly, Neal and probably cute little Roland will pay this price later.

I completely agree. Like i was saying earlier, i completely understand his motivations, but it is HOW he went about them that matters. And what he did was immoral.

I especially love how on one the recent interviews with JMO at NYCC post panel, she compares Hook and Neal’s actions. Hook is the one that is helping her right now. Hook is the one that’s present. He’s the one who’s sort of surprising by following through with what he promises to do. And seems to be doing this very selflessly instead of selfishly. And she’s definitely taken aback by how different he is than she expected.

I’m not completely sure she’s comparing Hook and Neal specifically there, but yes, when you look at the way both of them have been doing things lately they are complete opposites to each other.

Love does not delight in evil – Neal teaming up with his dad cannot be a good thing. Rumpelstiltskin is a loose canon on the island. He’s separated from the others and who knows what he will do to accomplish his task. He knows about the prophecy and has an idea of what it means but Neal doesn’t. But right now, it seems like Neal is becoming more and more like father, taking the easy way through magic to get what he wants. This will not end well for him. And I doubt very much Emma would approve of him using a 4 year old boy to get to her.

    Agreed.

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Again, we come back to Hook and how he’s been so far with Emma. We saw him give her Bae’s sword in The Heart of the Truest Believer. He didn’t need too. He knows that Emma can take care of herself but she also needed closure as far as Neal was concerned. And she is beginning to trust him and is beginning to have hope again and it must be an awesome feeling on Emma’s part for someone to look at her and have faith in her. And it is because of Hook’s support that Emma’s going to persevere and find Henry. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. We’ve seen faith, hope and love as three major themes on OUAT. It’s what Snowing’s ‘I will always find you’ means and I can see this slowly becoming reality with Hook and Emma. How’s that for an analysis?

Agreed with all of this! Your mind works in an interesting way obisgirl. 🙂

It sucks to wait but I want to be surprised when I watch it with him. But Thursdays are awesome because there’s Once, Agents of Shield saved on my DVR and OUATinWonderland all in one night!

But you don’t get to gush/analyse with us as much!

PS please give me your thoughts on the Neal going dark thing, because seriously sometimes I feel like it’s a crazy theory that such an innocent young man like Baelfire would turn into an evil man. And then there are other times when i think it makes perfect sense!

I hate that I have to wait until Thursday to see this episode because I already have a few things to say from what spoilers I’ve read. I love my boyfriend and that he’s working but I hate this schedule. We watch Once together. I have almost 700 liked memories on tumblr now.

Why not watch it twice??? 🙂 What are your thoughts??? Give them to us!!!

@MysteryKat – very interesting about Rumple’s dad not being in this episode, thanks for that info.

If it’s true well, it just reiterates what we’ve been saying. 3×04 will be a parallel episode with present day Rumple/Neal and past Rumple/Neal. Neal, having just used some morally wrong actions to return to his son and Emma, will be much more understanding about the actions Rumple has taken to protect him/find him. But therein lies the danger. The moment you accept the darkness you only grow “darker…. and darker.”

2×22, and the entire Snow “dark heart” storyline, has been setting this up. Taking the easy way versus taking the hard way.

I honestly can’t get over how they’re already comparing Neal and Killian in moral terms, albeit it’s very subtle, and if you weren’t actively analysing the scenes you wouldn’t catch it.

Killian: Let’s be honest, he’s made some very bad choices, i don’t think i know of one CSer who denies it. But it’s important to remember that these choices were made under the influence of his EXTREME anger and pain. He had NO HOPE. Now we’re seeing him in Neverland, and he’s acting selflessly, being a “true help” (interesting choice of words there Jen). Killian sees himself as a villain. But Killian now has hope again, due to Emma. It’s all about the influence Emma has been having on him. Killian has been taking the hard way to his redemption, the slow way, doing it through his actions, not once talking about it, just trying SO HARD. And it’s all for Emma. It’s honestly remarkable to me. Killian is in love with Emma, and anyone who denies it at this point just isn’t watching the show properly. He might not know it yet, but he does.

Bottom line: Killian is being redeemed through goodness by his love for Emma.

Neal: Neal, by contrast, used a 4 year old boy to get to NL. He emotionally manipulated Robin. He acted in a very Rumplestilskin-like manner, calling in “a favour”. He made no attempt whatsoever to find another way, didn’t seem to even examine his conscience, which is HUGELY disturbing. Even Snow, before she killed Cora, you could see that she was in an agony over her decision before she finally did it. And then, when it looked like summoning the Shadow hadn’t worked the first time, Neal went back on his word and asked RH to try again, despite giving his word that they would only try once. Neal took the easy way. Neal is trying to find his redemption with Emma using easy means.

Bottom line: Neal is seeking redemption through darkness by his love for Emma.

This show is all about true love being a struggle, about making choices that are right, but not easy. True love is about bringing out the best in each other. Choices, are what shapes a character, makes them who they are. And A+E have always said that evil is not born, it’s created, and it’s created by people’s choices.

I could be wrong of course. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. But that is what i’m seeing, that appears to be the direction they’re taking with this story.

It definitely won’t be the kiss. BUT that being said, this picture will be designed to get ANTICIPATION about the CS kiss up to fever pitch.

It may be a still from 3×04, maybe where Killian comforts Emma about David dying, because we know he reveals it to Snow, so pretty sure Emma will find out too. Or it could possibly be an almost-kiss in 3×04 OR a pre-kiss moment in 3×05 where they’re just spellbound in each other eyes… and….

    HELP

Gah you know i was talking about body language a couple of posts ago and how it’s so important, well, we’re not the only ones seeing it!!!!

Their relationship is no longer just about innuendos and flirting; it’s about two people who can sit next to each other, sharing another drink in comfortable silence. Their body language was very interesting to me: Hook is completely open with Emma—from his posture to the smitten look in his eyes. But Emma still has her arms around her knees, closing herself off, until the moment when she takes the coconut. She relaxes for a second as she thanks him before resuming her closed-off posture once again. I love the way this relationship has been steadily but subtly developing, and that quiet scene at the end of the episode was the perfect way to show the growing trust and intimacy between these characters while still being true to who Emma is.”

Sorry about the spoilers RG, sometimes completely forget to check before I post!!!

On the Neal thing, I just want to say one last thing about it and then i’m done, i’m seeing a lot of stuff on tumblr about how the situation was managed so that Roland would be safe. I disagree completely naturally. You can’t be absolutely certain that your plan is going to work, you just can’t. Some of the blame does lie on RH of course, allowing himself to be manipulated.

The bottom line of it for me is that Neal dangled Roland like a carrot for the Shadow to come and get, and I just wish some people would stop trying to sugar coat it. I understand Neal’s motivations, yes, but at the end of the day, there was nothing honourable, moral, selfless, noble, taking-the-hard-path or anything else admirable about his actions.

I’m pretty sure that the JR5 are going to find out about it, especially if RH makes it to NL, and I don’t think Emma will look favourably on those actions. But that’s just in my opinion.

The “Nasty Habits” and “Good Form” comparison thing will only work if Rumple and Bae are paralleled in 3×04. I think they will be though. Again, I could be wrong! Although I called the upcoming kiss just after 3×02 and we got confirmation on Saturday (99% sure with the tweet from Matt) that we’re getting a CS kiss. We called that 3×02 would be a Snowing/Captain Swan parallel. I have to be honest, even though we CSers analyse the crap out of everything we have very often been right.

We’re going to get a conversation about Emma between Tink and Killian soon, i’m pretty sure about that too. I CANNOT wait to see how much he reveals to her. And 3×05 is going to be SO FREAKING AMAZING i’m pretty sure I won’t be able to sleep the night before with excitement for the kiss. I REALLY hope too, like I said, that Emma will be the one to initiate it.

Oh yes, as to the Pan “not a coincidence” thing, well I think it’s fairly obvious that the Emma and Neal pairing was orchestrated, possibly by Pan himself, especially with the line from Manhattan about “forces greater than us” if you get my drift. Henry isn’t a TL child, I feel that Pan would have said it if he was, he knows a heck of a lot about things he shouldn’t.

The Roland thing definitely isn’t over, all magic, which A+E equated to taking the “easy way out” has a price, and it looks like poor Roland will pay it. I suppose RH has to meet up with Regina somehow, and that’s the only way I can see it happening.

I’m not too worried about Snow’s reaction to CS, although I think that Charming will be more receptive to the pairing than she is at first. Snow is too full of compassion and empathy to hold out for long, LOOK how many “second” chances she gave Regina! Although she isn’t going to notice any time soon, not with Charming telling her he’s dying next week.

Don’t worry, we’re going to get some stuff for CS next week, even if it’s subtle. They’re building up to a KISS after all, and trying to establish a triangle. Even if I don’t think that triangle will be an equilateral one, if you get my drift. Emma is going to chose Killian. I have 10000% faith. It’ll take a while, but we’ll get there!

Seriously, when they kiss, I don’t think my brain will be able to function for at least a week afterwards.
