Well OMG that episode was freaking AMAZING for us!!!!!!!!!! I have only now just recovered from the feels.

PARALLELS – Hook trying to win Snowing over while Charming tries to win over the dwarves? Yes please! Not to mention how supportive of one another the members of both Snowing & CaptainSwan are. Love it!
Yessssssssssss! And both Hook and Charming were using sarcasm as a defense mechanism to hide the fact that they wanted the approval! Yessssssssssss to the supportiveness. Several lines of dialogue backing each other up “listen to Emma” “I agree with Hook” and more!!!!!!!!!! *sobs*
Hook is ADORABLE when he’s got a crush! His feelings for Emma are definitely showing and he’s trying so hard but it’s cute!
YES. When he was asking her if Disney Hook was handsome she had this little exasperated smile on her face, THEY ARE BOTH SO ADORABLE TOGETHER. When I saw that scene I was like “married couple!”
FLIRTING & SMILES. When was the last time we actually saw Emma really flirting? Her walls are definitely starting to come down. Her “wouldn’t you like to know?” was predictable but I don’t think she was anticipating him actually wanting to know and it forced her walls back up a bit. Before that though she was definitely smiling and acting all flirty! (Not to mention, literally sharing a drink with him, AFTER he had taken a sip – she didn’t accept before that. Not sure about you guys, but I wouldn’t be sharing a drink with someone I wasn’t interested in, and it’s not like drinking rum helps with their survival in Neverland as opposed to say, a person dying of thirst sharing some water. Just saying.)

This scene was HUGELY significant to me. 1. She actually smiled a genuine eye crinkling smile which we haven’t seen in AGES, and this was after her emotionally frought conversation with Snow. 2. Hook AGAIN knew when she was in pain 3. Emma knew Hook knew she was in pain “is rum your solution to everything?” i.e. she noticed that every time he gives her rum he’s trying to make her feel better in some way. 4. He wanted to know who she was, but the HUGE UNBELIEVABLY SIGNIFICANT THING is that he knew before she did who she was. He called her an orphan in Tallahassee and she called herself an orphan in Lost Girl. Anyone who says this isn’t significant is either blind or lying 5. I could have SWORN her eyes flickered to his lips in that scene 6. You could see her thinking “oh crap what am I getting into” when he said “perhaps I would” 7. He was watching her go and we had a long shot of her walking away, which I believe was the “game on” moment we heard about from a CS fangirl journalist. 8. In that moment when she walked away he KNEW he affected her, no matter how hard she tries to hide it.
Mom/Dad/Things said when dying – I think Emma made it very clear that some things are said in the heat of the moment when things look very dire, but it doesn’t mean that everything is forgiven and she still feels like the orphan girl she believed herself to be for 28 years. Do I think she’ll eventually find a way to forgive them and repair that relationship a bit? Of course. But it goes to prove that Emma doesn’t hold to what she says when she thinks someone is dying which negates the portal scene just a bit
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. When you couple Emma saying that she only called them Mom and Dad when they were dying and the line in the later Snow/Emma conversation: “you found us, but it was too late“. What did Eddy say? “It may be too late” about Neal finding Emma. Not exactly good foreshadowing for Swanfire IMO.
TRUE LOVE – when Emma is trying to tell the map who she is, she mentions that she’s the daughter of Snow & Charming which apparently makes her the product of true love in which she side-eyes HOOK and the camera pans to him
Yes, this was extremely obvious to me too. They make it a point to show a lot of Killy’s reactions to what she says and vice versa. Why on EARTH would they do that if their interactions together weren’t important? Last week they panned to Emma after Killy was talking about Happy Endings. This week they pan to Killy after Emma was talking about True Love? We’re supposed to believe this is a coincidence?
This whole episode was one big Snowing/CaptainSwan parallel and even through in some RumBelle for good measure – highlighting the supportive nature and the BELIEF that each of these couples share in one another. Snowing’s love story has played out to the point where they are a solid couple, RumBelle is on the way there but Rumple still has some things to work through, and CaptainSwan is still in the flirty stages for sure, but once again they show that they, like the other two couples, understand each other and connect on a deeper level. After all, it was Hook back in Tallahassee that recognized the look in Emma’s eyes and called her an orphan. It is just now that Emma is embracing that side of her, the side that he knew all the way back then, before anyone else did, and long before she was willing to admit that to anyone, especially Snow. To see her coming around to that and owning it amazing in itself, but to see her bonding with the man who sees that deep, hidden part of her on his own without help is even better! Seeing these three couples highlighted like the camera shots at the end of the finale was amazing.
YES YES THIS A MILLION TIMES YES. And yep we had the three main couples in there, Snowing/Rumbelle/Captain Swan. It was perfection. And a familiar sight 😉
Loved the shot of Snowing standing next to CaptainSwan with Regina as the odd person out. They were all willing to do things the way that both Emma and Hook wanted to with the map and it was Regina who took it upon herself to screw things up. Once she said something and walked off, the 4 of them were standing there and it just looked so right! I loved that they showed them standing side-by-side

As I’ve said elsewhere, just because I have a preference, doesn’t mean I’m blind to why others hold out hope too. I just think it’s becoming more and more obvious that there’s something happening between these two and that it can’t just be ignored or considered delusional at this point. I hope beyond hope that we’re right and have seen it all along but I know why both sides have reason to hope and we just don’t know what will happen yet. Here’s hoping that this is the story they want to tell and the man they want Emma to choose, especially after an amazing episode that has tons of parallels between them and Snowing (as opposed to cursed Snowing which is entirely different). So being cautiously optimistic while believing 100% that it is totally possible that they will go forward with CaptainSwan, I can’t wait to see where it goes from here cause this is only the beginning. I can feel it! (Or more accurately, the beginning of the outright flirting & starting something REAL and not just flirting to get what they want. The fact that they keep showing us how real it is for Hook is encouraging and seeing Emma being more and more open to him is amazing! The beginning beginning was what we saw back in The Doctor & Tallahassee and have held on to ever since as the FOUNDATION of what is a beautiful relationship.) We’ve weathered the delusional storms and more are jumping on board after what we’ve been shown this season so there’s always hope. Regardless though, I don’t care how outnumbered I am or how horrible I’m made to feel for loving my ship. I just have to hope that’s the route they go down and that they’re making a point of showing us these things because they ARE important to the overall love story of one Emma Swan, and I believe they are. I just don’t see the reason in building it up and how they could dismiss it at this point. You don’t set up a great option and walk away from it, and if they kill him off then it would be like Graham all over again but with way more buildup and then it WOULD feel like she was only involved in a relationship because the other guy that was an option is dead. I would much prefer for Emma to make a CHOICE since this show, along with hope, redemption, belief, etc, is about the choices that one makes. I think this season we’re going to get down to just who EMMA is, not what everyone else WANTS HER TO BE and she’ll make the choice that’s right for her. *fingers crossed it’s Hook* *passes out cookies* Edited to add: lots of spoiler tags. YES YES YES TO ALL OF THIS. I’ve gone beyond mere hope at this stage. Last season it was mostly about him thinking that she was an attractive woman and admiring that she’s badass and having a lot in common with her. THIS season, and we’re only two episodes in, he knows he’s fallen for her somewhat, he’s making an effort to talk to her, he’s seeking out moments with her alone, and he’s trying to win over her dad. OMG THE FEELS. It’s so beautiful seeing this relationship playing out before our very eyes.
On the choices thing, it’s been pretty much set up for them to chose each other. Remember the lines from last season?

That is an unusual way to phrase things. She could have said “You betrayed me, and now you’ll pay the price for that”. The way they phrased this WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT.
Emma:
If I were to pick dead guy of the year, i’d pick you.
They could have had her say “if I were to pick dead guy of the year, it’d be you”. THE WAY THEY PHRASED THAT LINE IS SIGNIFICANT, and foreshadowing at it’s finest. These guys are writers, they know the effect of playing around with words, how to say things subtly, how to affect nuances of emotion.
Choices are a Captain Swan thing, I’m sure of it. And eventually Emma WILL pick Killian. Those lines were not said in romantic contexts, but remember, Snowing’s catchphrase “I will always find you” didn’t start in a romantic context either. Charming said those words to Snow in a “I told you i’d find you, you thieving wench” way. Lol.

The meaning of kindred spirits isn’t always a romantic one. I agree, Neal and Mulan are going to be a platonic relationship but that doesn’t mean because Hook and Emma have been referred to as kindred spirits that their relationship is going to be a platonic one. Hook has definite feelings for Emma and nope, it’s not a fatherly feelings either as Estelle said on the official podcast. Hook and Emma have shared similar experiences that enable them to have an understanding of where the other is coming from.
Yep. There’s also those other quotes such as “feelings will be hard to deny” and so on. 🙂

I agree that Hook doesn’t need to apologise to Rumple, but he definitely needs to apologise to Belle and Archie (can’t forget Archie). Rumple and Hook are never going to be friends but they could at least be civil to each other. I wouldn’t say Emma needs to be “aggressively pursued” by Hook because that implies that Hook is harassing her with unwanted attention and won’t take no for an answer. Hook shouldn’t give up on Emma if she does say no, but at the same time, he shouldn’t be in her face all the time about it. He needs to back off when she needs him to but continue to let her know his feelings towards her are sincere. Emma doesn’t like being pushed. If she feels she’s being pushed, she’s more likely to pull away.
But that’s the thing – Emma has NEVER told Killian to back down from her. He has given her quite a bit of his attention so far and she hasn’t shot him down once. She did with Neal, with Graham and with August straight away. That means that Killians attention is NOT unwanted. And we’re going to see more of that in 3×02, according to spoilers.
It’s not that he needs to be aggressive as in angry, but aggressive as in the other meaning of the word, he needs to show her time and time again that he will never leave her. That’s Emma’s biggest insecurity. She will pull away, without doubt. But once Killian keeps coming after her, well, she will eventually stop doing that. In fact in some ways with Killian she has ALREADY stopped running. She has freely acknowledged that a connection between them exists, and both of them have accepted that they cannot retreat emotionally around the other. That is significant.

@PoM – I do believe that Killian needs to apologise to Belle, she was an innocent party (although I don’t think Killian saw it that way). I don’t mind him being horrible to Rumple though (and he’s one of my fave’s too!) because Rumple did, after all, kill his love right in front of him.
@sweetgrass – space is not what Emma needs in my opinion 🙂 She needs reassurance. She may want space, but ultimately it’s not what she needs. Lol.I also don’t see Hook stepping aside once there’s a reunion. The only time I see him doing that is when Emma asks him too, which even then I expect him to fight her on that too until eventually he’ll respect her wishes.
I personally don’t think Emma would ever ask him to do that 🙂 She’s been abandoned so many times that I just couldn’t see her asking someone she cared about to leave her alone.
She needs to be aggressively persued, because while she probably won’t outright tell Neal or Killian to leave her alone, SHE will be the one doing all the running away from them, emotionally. The only question is, who will follow (spoiler: Killian). She needs to be shown over and over and over again that she is loved and that that person won’t EVER leave her, no matter the circumstance. Neal has already distanced himself physically from her (under the guise of love and finding her fate/family but was really too afraid of his father) and emotionally from her (by moving on and being genuinely in love with Tamara). I don’t believe she will ever be able to trust that he won’t do that again.
Killian has been created to be her perfect match. It’s already been shown that he has, I believe, to hold the GREATEST CAPACITY for love on the entire show, even more than Charming. THAT is what Emma needs, that kind of devotion. God guys, Captain Swan is going to be so great 😀

@PoM – your theories are of course very possible, but there’s one thing I disagree with that could completely upset them haha. It’s the fact that I don’t think Killian will step down for Neal. Now, I DO believe there will be a cooling off period for CS when Neal comes back into the picture, because Emma will completely shut down, citing Henry as the priority etc and Killian will obviously be feeling shock and guilt. But there is NO WAY Emma will just run into Neal’s arms. I think that when Killian sees her shutting down he will go back to beating down her walls lol. Because (even though he had a relationship with Baelfire) Bae is no longer a child and has already made mistakes with this woman. Killian will fight for her because he KNOWS how precious his second (and last) chance for a Happy Ending is, having lost love before. And this premise of Killian fighting for her has already been set up – “A man unwilling to fight for what he wants deserves what he gets”.
I too think the triangle will be resolved sooner rather than later. They won’t leave the ending open. Specifically because, once Emma makes her choice, there will still be issues, things to sort through. The hardest thing about TL is staying together, as we have already seen with Snowing/Rumbelle. The entire premise of the show is that TL must be fought for – so we’re going to be seeing some of that. I actually think it’ll be far less of a triangle than the media are hyping it up to be. I have confidence that Emma will make her choice fairly quickly, hopefully by the end of S4 lol, and I think that she will choose Captain Hook.
As for Neal, I think his character arc is going in a different direction. He obviously has issues with his father that need to be worked out and he needs to get to know his son (and get over Tamara) before he can even think of romance again. I also think there is a danger that he will follow in Rumple’s footsteps. Ginny recently tweeted a picture of him calling him Voldemort Junior that I hopelessly failed at not overanalysing lol, but I think it’s entirely possible that he will go that route. Especially because he will be using magic to return to Emma, but as we know “all magic comes with a price”.
But i’m delighted to hear that you’re more open-minded to Captain Swan! I’ve noticed more people becoming open to the idea just in the last week after 3×01. I have a feeling the CS ship will be huge by mid-season 😉

I gotta say, it would surprise me. It was Emma’s birthday when Henry found her and he didn’t say anything. Which would be unusual for a 10 year old as precocious as Henry.
And also, Emma’s birthday in season 1 was depressing enough without her thinking of the fact that she gave birth to her son whom she loved so much but couldn’t even look at ON HER BIRTHDAY every single year. God. That would be too cruel.

Talking about Hook, the incorrigible innuendo loving pirate couldn’t help himself telling Emma in front of the entire group, including her parents…that ‘Actually I quite fancy you from time to time – when you’re not yelling at me.’ Emma gave him a glance as in saying ’Really now it’s not the time!’ but we do believe Hook meant every word. The scene where he’s holding his breath, sighing with relief as Emma started to breathe again after almost drowning, tells us all we need to know about his feelings for the saviour.

So it looks like CSers aren’t the only ones who interpreted things that way. Some people from other ships are saying that she was really annoyed with him, but it’s clear that she wasn’t, because she would have shut him down by now if she was. He’s been making his interest in her clear from day 1 😉

The instinct of “can you tell if your TL is dead or not?” seems to be wonky: 1) Charming COULD tell that Snow had eaten the apple 2) Rumple COULD NOT tell that Belle was alive and locked away in Regina’s tower or in SB. So…it seems to be an emotional thing and only works when the writers need it to. lol.
I always thought that Rumple was unable to sense her because he… er… rejected her (kind of). There is obviously a very strong bond there, but I don’t think it was FULLY there because Rumple did not allow TL kiss to un-curse him and he denied her love for him, and thus didn’t allow them to fully connect/commit on an emotional level.
That’s what I always thought btw, well before we met Hook, so no shipping goggles present for me 😉
