I don’t really think Bae is Jefferson because if he was Bae, he should know that Gold is Rumple and his father and would be seeking him out.
In “The Return”, when August says to Gold that Emma “is their only hope”, I couldn’t help but think of Princess Leia saying “ObiWan, your my only hope” in the original Star Wars (now Episode 4).
If August is actually Pinocchio, he could have been talking to the Blue Fairy about finding his father Gepetto.
I still think he would have tricked Regina into enacting the curse, I don’t think he would have sacrificed Belle.

Although with Rumple does have that teeny tiny glimmer of humanity in him which is what fuels his agenda to find a way to get to Bae. When he many centuries later met Belle, she was the only other one in his life that was unable to crack into that bit a humanity some. If it wasn’t because of his ultimate plan to find and enact the curse (via Regina) maybe he would have let Belle’s love break his curse as the Dark One. But in his mind he still had unfinished business. He did tell the Blue Fairy that he would “do nothing else” and ” love nothing else” until he found a way back to Bae.
I’m suspecting Rumplestiltskin designed the curse so that they would stay in the “other realm” (i.e. Storybrook) because they need to be in a land without magic. But I think he knew he could only get the EQ to enact the curse if she truly believed it would take away other’s (especially Snow’s) happiness. However, I think he actually still wanted everyone to get their memories back and Emma breaking the curse will so that. Maybe Rumple was not really trying to be benevolent but rather to get revenge against Regina. Either way, he may have figured there would be multiple benefits to having a way to reverse the effects of the curse. But I do suspect, in the end everyone will continue to live in Storybrook even after there memories are back and the curse is broken.
I wanted August to be Baelfire so much but I guess now it is looking more and more like he is going to be Pinocchio. Hopefully Bae will be back but I think we will have to wait for Season 2.
When Bae first got the magic bean from the Blue Fairy, I thought he was going to grow a beanstalk. 🙂
But since it was a green vortex, it seems suspicious it could be Oz. Wonder if the green phone August used @ the beginning was a hotline to Oz. Even though they cut to a scene with August and Henry, I think that was just a red herring. Possibly even though August is not Bae, maybe he is working with Bae. It could have been Bae on the other end and he came up with the plan to have August enlist Henry for help.
If Bae went to Oz, I suppose it’s possible he is The Wizard. Regardless, I think being in Oz he may be able to view what is going on in Storybrooke “our world” as in Wizard of Oz movie, the Wicked Witch could show Dorothy images of her Aunt Em through her crystal ball.
