Hi all,
Wanted to share a recent conversation between me and my SIL, long-time viewer of OUAT.
Her: I finally caught up on S4! Wait, you don’t watch anymore, do you?
Me: Nope.
Her: Yeah, ever since what’s his name died?
Me: Neal.
Her: It’s really just not the same as it was in S1 or 2 in general.
Me: I just can’t bear to watch Emma suck face with Henry’s step grandfather.
Her: WHAT?
Me: [insert brief historical summary of Hook – Mila – Rumple – Bae]
Her: Oh. Ew. I had forgotten about all of that.=FIN=
[adrotate group="5"]lecygneParticipantHi all, just wanted to say a quick greeting as I often lurk but never post because… well… I don’t watch OUAT anymore, and I don’t have time for TV really with tons of studying these days, but I do come by from time to time.
Hubs saw a promo picture of Henry the other day and noted how old he had gotten. My only response was (quote) “That show is dead to me.” Sad thing is, I still think about it most Sunday nights, though I couldn’t even tell you what was going on outside the snippets I get when I drop in at the ranch.
So all that meandering, thanks for keeping a flame alive (even if it’s not a flame of hope – just a flame of remembrance) and for representing the ship.
(scrapes a few crumbs off the cupcake plate and retreats to the shadows)
lecygneParticipantThanks, RG. I’ve been avoiding clicking it because, well, it’s still (and may always be) too raw. The way they have discarded storylines willy-nilly in pursuit of the “next thing” — never fully developing anything, or playing anything to its “natural” conclusion — makes me so angry. And jettisoning one character while ignoring others, only to bring on MORE MORE MORE, well, it’s too much. The whole Frozen thing is the most ridiculous grab I could even image.
Hope everyone has been doing well! I probably won’t click through all 100 pages or so that I’ve missed, but I thought I’d drive by today as the OUAT stuff is starting to show up in my FB/Twitter feeds again. Just knowing y’all are still here holding down the fort makes me happy. I’ll try to drop in more regularly… I’ll need the support group on my vacant Sunday nights. 🙁
lecygneParticipantUgh, re:Adam. So glad I have booted that crap from my feed.
And Ugh, re:Puck. Why? There are infinite things to use that AREN’T Puck. Doesn’t Puck have his own official blog?
lecygneParticipantHi friends! Been laying low, trying not to think about OUAT but throwing up in my mouth a little every time I see headlines about the upcoming Frozen storyline, and then I was gearing up for Downton, and read this article where the DA executive producer said: “I think it would have been awful if, three episodes after Matthew’s death, [Mary] went straight back into the saddle, so to speak.”
And then I had a horrible moment when all the OUAT things flooded back… =sob=
lecygneParticipantHook is going to reap everything that Neal sowed. Neal sent the bird to Hook so Hook could swoop in and take his place in Emma’s heart/Henry’s life. Neal essentially gave his (Neal’s) publicized “second chance” to Hook – nearly wrapped up in a bow and sprinkled with his blessing.
lecygneParticipantWhy did they have Rumple say that when they knew what they were gonna do? WHHHYYY?!?!
Because they had no idea what they were going to do?
Or because they are cruel senseless worms.
Well they had to have had 3B plotted out and partially written by the time they were shooting the end of 3A. So we must assume it was the latter.
Same with “I will see you again”/”you will see them both again.”
Completely pointless pain and suffering for Neal fans. And people wonder what the problem is in our corner of the fan base?
lecygneParticipantAh, sad town. We need a sad ghost ship.
lecygneParticipantSo let’s see: Neal lets Emma go so she can find her family. He then doesn’t come running to Storybrooke because he’s “moved on” with Tamara and is scared of facing Emma.
For her part, Emma effectively kills Neal and then makes a conscientious decision to keep him dead (all while bringing someone else random back from said dead). She then decides to enter into a romantic liaison with the person responsible for Neal’s miserable childhood, who is moreover a bad influence on Neal’s son.
I guess they’re even now. SMH
lecygneParticipant=shakes head at JMo=
My. My. My. For the love of William Shatner. Let Neal rest in peace. Character assassination needs to stop. For real. Stop beating a dead ship. Stop kicking the few Nealfire fans hanging on. Stop piling it on.
Has there ever been another character (and actor!) in the history of TV who has received such horrible handling on screen and off? Seriously asking. Seems to me that characters (and actors!) get better send-offs… Even true villains.
