@RG… I don’t know how you do it around here. Lurking is horrible enough. I cannot imagine if I had a duty as a mod. I applaud your strength and dedication.
[adrotate group="5"]lecygneParticipantI think this pretty much is one reason why I’m assuming most SW/SF shippers are choosing to post here. Their rightfully hurting and instead of clogging up the boards with several threads about how this doesn’t make a lick of sense they are opting to discuss a character they loved with those who share similar thoughts without having to invest energy into explaining to those who don’t understand or are taken aback about why they feel what they do. Different strokes for different folks and all that.
I’m confused why is anyone else even posting here unless to offer condolences or agree with SFers about whatever it is you agree with? There are other threads to talk about the actual episode, and that is where differing opinions should be discussed. It is obvious from the last 40 pages or so that this has become a haven/mourning ground for SFers. Expressing your confusion as to why people grieve the way they do or to try to argue with the POV of those using this thread for grieving here seems out of place at this point in time.
Just my $.02.
EDIT: As many posters have said repeatedly, they are trying to AVOID differing opinions. Otherwise we’d be out on Twitter, tumblr, general chat, 3×15 page, etc. The “justifications” are very painful at this point and, IMHO, should be argued in the episode thread. Especially when the mood in this thread is very clear.
lecygneParticipantI was doing a bit of research to try and explain perhaps why attractive actors seem to get all the fan adoration while so-called “average Joes” seem to get less love. I think it can be explained by a cognitive bias known as the Halo Effect. Essentially, attractive people are considered by many to be more intelligent and kind than non-attractive people. It’s sad but true.
Well, like all of us at least, I don’t see MRJ as average joe. He’s adorable, but not “swashbuckling” I guess. I wonder sometimes about the ages of the meanest segments of the fanbase. I can’t help but see these as crazy teenagers who perhaps behave this way at school. I have a very hard time thinking these are the coveted 18-49 demographic. I guess some adults are this crazy, but it smacks of 13-14 y/os to me, and considering the 7/8PM time slot and “family friendly” aspect of the show, maybe it is. Just a theory.
lecygneParticipantOK if it’s just me! I mostly lurk anyway, and I can see when I’m at the bottom of a page!
lecygneParticipantIs this thread acting weird for everyone? Is it because we’ve gone above 1000? Does a site mod need to log a ticket with the platform to see if they can fix it? Do we need to start a new page that perhaps, as a first post, points to this thread?
I’m unable to get to any pages past 1000 unless I manually type it into the URL… is it just me?
lecygneParticipant*hugs* It was pretty crushing. And in an ep that blended some of my favorite stories outside of Once, too. I dunno what could make it better at this point, but I’m not ready to give up on the show yet…I still love too many of the characters.
So many characters should be destroyed by this… Rumple’s lost his son he’s worked so hard to reunite with (or save), Emma’s lost her TL, Belle has to watch Rumple, Henry will eventually get his memory back, etc. The question is will they? Or will Neal go to the land of lost toys like so many others before him. Heck, like everyone before him?
lecygneParticipantThank you, papa?! My lord, I made the right decision not watching this SWILL. Are you kidding me?!! It’s like they don’t even watch their own show.
lecygneParticipantGreat rant, Phee. Assuming Neal is dead for real and that we’re supposed to swallow A&E’s BS “this was always the plan,” this show was not what we thought it was or totally jumped the shark.
lecygneParticipantSo, it’s officially Once night at my house and the hubs is going on with watching in the next room even though he watched me cry last night on Twitter and heard me declare I was unable to watch it again. I’ll be interested to get his take but I am huddled up in my room with my headphones on. Even the description on Hulu made me mad, something about Neal trying to get back to Henry.
Meanwhile, I had a hostile reaction to my son’s Hook stuff today (from his Jake and the Neverland Pirates set.) Peter Pan has been ruined for me via OUAT. Boo!
lecygneParticipantLoved this read. YES.
