My husband has been walking around this morning just as shocked as I am. He makes me feel that much more sane, though. People fail to understand how it has nothing to do with shipping, or even about losing a fav character. He sees all the weirdness in the ep and the *reason* he had to die was just lame.
Yes, there is a whole public that is not following the online shipping drama and just following the show. There are PLENTY of people just watching… not Googling for spoilers, reading forums/Twitter/Tumblr, just showing up on Sundays (or later via web) enjoying the show. These people have been let down. Can you imagine having not heard the SoD and just being whacked with that? Whatever anyone says, we have been at least digesting this for a while in some form. Other people, not so lucky.
[adrotate group="5"]lecygneParticipantCan we start a list of all the things MRJ has been in so we can all watch them if we want to? I know a few things that I won’t be watching (True Blood….just no) but I would love to know more about his movies and see his other performances. I think this is going to become my therapy.
I would also appreciate this. I was not familiar with him before this show, but I’m ready to start watching his next one by virtue of his presence.
lecygneParticipantI think he’s gone. For good. We’ll never see him again
Oh my goodness. RumplesGirl, your hopelessness is breaking my heart in a separate category. 🙁 🙁 🙁
lecygneParticipantThe original article said the actor would leave the show and not be available for flashbacks
Or might that mean after this season? MRJ has filmed every episode he will ever film. How they combine that may be subject to interpretation.
Re: not handling flashbacks, I guess this doesn’t affect me since I won’t watch anymore. Sad sad sad.
lecygneParticipantI think there may be some too literal taking of the “the actor will leave the show” line. I’m not sure that this means, post death, that they are not eligible to wrap up any loose lines within the same season. I simply think this means that the actor will leave the show once the death is cleaned up. If we need a couple of flashbacks to tie up the loose knots, I think A&E won’t see this as lying to the fans. The character is DEAD. The actor is leaving the show. They never said the death would be the absolute last scene… considering how the entire show is built around shifting timelines.
EDIT: Or maybe I only saw a requote of the quote? I don’t remember. Pls correct me.
lecygneParticipantAbsolutely no build up to his death + no exit interview = MRJ wanted off and ABC is trying to keep it hush hush
Why? Actor discontent is legendary. And what right does ABC have to gag MRJ? MRJ can still do an exit interview and keep it classy. “I enjoyed my time on the show.” “That was a powerful episode for me, JMo, and RC.” “There are exciting things still in store for viewers.” Etc.
And MRJ has FANS. Why wouldn’t he at least send a “thank you for all your support. It means so much.”
And if he wanted off, they still could have kept him through the end of 3B to wrap it up properly. You can’t tell me with the good relations he had on set that he couldn’t stick it out long enough to make HIS OWN FANS happy… which should outweigh any desire to escape internet bullying. That’s all we’re saying. It’s okay if you leave. Actors leave all the time. Sometimes, God forbid, actors even die. The storyline may be adjusting. But do it with respect.
lecygneParticipant*sigh*
Adam vanished. He saw one tweet that demanded he come to Twitter, answered it and then left again.
He responds to every bait tweet, argues with people online, defends himself… where is he today?! I swear, watching his banter with complete A–holes online drives me nuts. He’ll respond to every belligerent person whose ships are still in play, and he won’t respond to people whose ship has (apparently) just sunk. And our questions are legit… If Neal is dead, then he can respond to our questions without #nospoilers. The spoiler is over…. right????
WTH?
lecygneParticipantKnow the saying “no body, no death”, I’m adopting the mantra, “no exit interview, no death.” If this thing was legit, you’d think he’d have done an interview with one of the big TV sites and they would have published it right after the ep aired. As infuriating as the silence is, the longer it goes on, the more it makes me suspect shenanigans. You don’t kill off a main character on your TV show and not attempt to get media mileage out of it, that’s just ridiculous. If an interview DOES come out, then I’ll change my tune, but as of right now, I’m not buying it.
This is where I am right now. When people leave a show, there’s some kind of exit interviews with the person, the cast, the writers… somebody or multiple somebodies. MRJ should make some kind of statement in some way. That he enjoyed his time with the show, that he’s looking forward to the future, that he supports the direction of the show… SOMETHING. Even diplomatically, there should be a response.
ALSO, I canNOT believe that they didn’t hype this as a death show. Why not?! That is where the ratings come in. People who’ve left come back for that type of stuff.
The silence only begs conjecture at this point.
lecygneParticipant-Anyone else annoyed that Adam hasn’t been on Twitter tonight?! You wrote the big crappy ending…come out and face the music from the upset fans.
yes. Face the music. Even some CSers complaining about the treatment.
My question for Adam: why should Neal or Swanfire fans continue to watch?
lecygneParticipantdo you trust them about anything, again, ever? I am holding out hope for the fake out, I am curious if we are reading the same Matt M article, as I don’t read the as definitive. I am waiting for follow up twitters and exit interviews, …
my denial is also causing me to try to read something here. I need these comments, interviews, and confirmations… I need something to help me make sense of this catastrophe.
