ParticipantHad to look up the actress’ picture to see what you were talking about – and yeah, probably not a teenage bride. But, then again, Jennifer Morrison and MRJ are going to be playing their characters as pretty much teenagers…and it seemed to work when Snow and Regina played younger versions – no, she’s probably a social worker – or maybe a waitress at a diner! Would kind of love that parallel, after the story she told Henry about his dad, if a diner is possibly the location of the crime, the place they were meant to meet up at after the con, or just somehow comes into play. (Even Emma doing a pregnancy test in a diner restroom while on the run would at least make some of the those details make sense. You can’t tell me that entire story came out of thin air) The name Loretta has me thinking of a waitress working in a diner out west, off the innerstate….
Part of me could see them having ‘Neal’ freak out and flee the scene and can possibly get the writers drawing a connection to Rumple’s cowardice – But that’s not Baelfire. I think, despite how BROKEN he may be as an adult, a big part of his character is still going to be rooted in being the opposite of his father, in being brave. Especially if he chose to take up the alias of a hyper-masculine thrill-seeker.
I guess it would be funny, towards the end of the episode, if we find out that his ‘real’…’realer’ alias for our world is JACK. Kerouac idealized – even hero worshipped Neal Cassady and the freedom Cassady lived life. I could see a troubled teenager desiring that – but also figuring out it’s not HIM. If that makes any sense.
I think I could get behind the idea of this being their last crime, they plan to meet up afterwards (Diner off the innerstate???) – and Bae….I mean ‘NEAL’ is a no show. There are two cops listed in the cast list – one specifically a traffic cop. Maybe one gets ‘Neal’ early on and the other catches up to a running Emma. But it does have elements of a bad made for television movie – two young adults in love – torn apart by fate!..unplanned pregnancy, never to see each other again until…!
Have also wondered if we might get a time lapse in the Emma/Neal story arch during the episode. If the crime and punishment portion happens and then we get a cut scene of Emma in Tallahassee setting up her bail bonds business or something when Neal finds her and tries to make everything right – ‘make an honest woman out of her’. Which I’m sure went over wonderfully since Emma is SO good with emotions and handling other people loving and needing her…
Pretty sure they would have written something more along the lines of, “…a person from her past tries to make an honest woman out of her” if there is going to be a time lapse but just something about the one glimpse of ‘Neal’ makes me think this guy has been abandoned, unlucky in every aspect of his life, and spurned by love.

ParticipantJust to add to his name meaning, did google both ‘Neal’ and ‘Cassady’. Both have gaelic (scottish) roots. Neal means uncertain, possibly a champion. Cassady – curly-headed, ingenious, clever.
If feels weird, to finally know that this guy is Henry’s dad – for MRJ to finally have a character name. Couldn’t they have at least named the cashier or cop? Made this a little less obvious. 😆
Maybe his teenage bride is Loretta – they separated or something before he meets Emma. He then tries to marry Emma and it comes out he’s still married to Loretta – can’t see Emma taking that well.

ParticipantWho do you guys think he’s holding – Emma or Hook? 😀
This looks really cool. Since no Jack tie in, I’m still thinking we’ll get a modern version of Jack in the Beanstalk from Bae’s backstory. Also, AntBee said MRJ is back filming for episode 9 – filming a lot more than usually so far. Could that be Bae’s backstory reveal?Kind of disappointed Garcia’s not a promo-wrestler now! 😆 But, costume sounds cool!

ParticipantAt the very least: we now know how Henry managed to steal Mary Margaret’s credit card without her knowing (apparently for awhile…): thief genes on both sides! 😀

That being said, not sure I care about the actual character of Aurora (which is weird cause I’ve loved the actress in so much…) but still don’t absolutely hate her. Guess I just hate that I don’t care enough at this point about Mulan or Aurora – since they were childhood favorites!
I think the writers are not writing the same stories as our childhood favorites / memories …. The only way I can tolerate MULAN is to realize that the name is common in China so there can be more than one Mulan. Aurora was always kind of a sissy…she could sing…a princess not a fighter.
Didn’t expect either to be carbon copies, but really did love the disney versions so thought I’d be able to connect somewhat to whatever super-special-awesome versions ONCE came up with – and still….nothing…. 🙁 And I’m kind of bored with both. Luckily, maybe they’ll just be background fodder….
Apparently the only thing I’d watch when I was three was Sleepy Beauty. Loved the good fairies! As for Aurora not being a fighter, I think it would be annoying if every female character in ONCE just so happened to be an expert with weapons and a great warrior. It makes sense for Snow, Emma, etc based on their backgrounds, but not everyone growing up in a castle is going to have the same skill set. – nor should they.
Love the ‘damsels with daggers’ as much as the next person, but I’d rather see Aurora being some type of skilled diplomat, a great orator or storyteller – all as important when the worlds in chaos and needing to be rebuilt as fighting. I keep thinking of Belle – adventurous, brave, intelligent – but I’m guessing not a judo master or experienced with weapons, but still gusty!
And by just giving Aurora of the possibility of being a skilled diplomat – my head canon has managed to destroy the character she’ll end up being! 😆

ParticipantI know that Elle, Regina has done far more horrible things than breaking a lunch date and has no problem lying to get what she needs/wants. But it was Henry – who has (in the other two episodes this season) been surprisingly sympathetic towards her. It just feels like we missed a scene somewhere to get to the point where Henry is exploiting her love. Then again, she had no problem messing with his emotions in the past, trying to keep him…
IDK – never been a Regina supporter, and even didn’t really sympathize with her last episode, but she was just pathetic enough racing out that door to gain a little pity from me tonight. Just a little.
Main issue is expecting more out of Henry, but he is a kid on a mission to save his mom and grandma- the ends justify the means and all. 😀

ParticipantIt does feel like they keep getting better, and have this mounting intensity! I really don’t know if I can stand where we’re going to be by episode 6 – too much…overload! 😆
I remember the creators talking in an interview that the important thing is to give the audience a couple of answers and then pile on a lot more questions – JOB WELL DONE, GUYS!

ParticipantI’m so excited to have Cora become the main villain for awhile! Like you said, feels like the fandom will finally get to bond over hating the same character…..until some weird ones start hero worshipping her- there’s always going to be someone loving her for being BAD 🙄
Kind of worried that she’s able to shape shift, knows Henry’s name, and has the goal of heading to Storybrooke. If she manages to get there before Snow and Emma, and shifts into one of them – all bets are off to what she could do. Regina and Henry are in danger!
I am wondering how much of what Cora said as Lancelot is true – is she really unaware of why this area was not effected by the curse? I thought for a second maybe she cast a spell to protect herself (and ended up shielding a section of land) but then why is she trying to escape to our world? Besides to get revenge on Regina…

ParticipantReally loved this episode, even though the family angst made me want to cry in almost every scene.
Loved all Snow and Emma interactions, the real Lancelot! (and loved that he and Snow did not share anything romantic, just a deep respect/friendship. Imagine: a boy and a girl just being friends 😀 ) Love that Cora’s going to be the villain! She scares me! 😯 Love Jefferson and Grace reunion! Love/cried during the Snow/Emma nursery scene – that left me pretty broken hearted 😥 I know my inner -eight year old is loving that Snow White is leading a group of female bada** into battle, including Mulan and Aurora!
That being said, not sure I care about the actual character of Aurora (which is weird cause I’ve loved the actress in so much…) but still don’t absolutely hate her. Guess I just hate that I don’t care enough at this point about Mulan or Aurora – since they were childhood favorites!
Hate that Henry called up Regina and ‘planned’ a lunch date with her, got her hopes up, and just – used her. I’m not a big Regina sympathizer but that was kind of harsh. I guess I just expected more out of Henry.
Also, hated the way King George watched Charming and Henry at the end of the episode. In the promo, I really thought he was just remembering his own son, remembering play-fighting with him – now, I think he’s up to something…something that will probably involve taking Henry. Regina and Charming are going to destroy him! 😈

It’s new york, there are freaks everywhere, August would surely be able to move around unnoticed. If he is able to move around at all.
Yeah, I think he’s able to move – in wood form- because of the magic…which seems to be contained in Storybrooke but would be kind of cool if it did spread elsewhere.
