That’s honestly what I was wondering at first, that she had maybe offered herself to the Powers that Be in order for Rumple to make it home from war/not die..but it sounds like the ‘blue star’ has been active for longer than 13 years at that point in time.
Maybe she brought Baelfire to Rumple, if he isn’t his biological son? (Not sure how I feel about it, but this quote does open the door for a lot of possibilities!)

Rumple does have a swagger 😀 ; if Jack turns up in a three piece suit, bright colored shirt, with anything resembling a ‘pimp cane’: I rest my case!
Come from a family of gingers-turned: all of my older brothers, mother, and father had bright red hair that started darkening when they were six or so – not even babies. Mine didn’t. My eldest brother’s hair is probably darker than August’s. As people have said before, it does happen (and in my experience, happens more times than not).
My issue is the eye color – Eion Bailey has some very lovely, blue eyes that stand-out. I’m sure little Snow just spoiled me, but couldn’t Jakob had worn contacts? August couldn’t have because then we would have dark hair, brown eyes – ‘do I even look like him?’ – Kind of!Keegan: I feel like the Blue Fairy had something going on with Rumpelstiltskin once… And I think it was painful for her to see what had happened to him. So I think she was trying to save Rumpel too when she gave Baelfire that magic bean, knowing that he could go there. And it was certainly not her fault that he was a coward yet again and didn’t go.

there is a sense that I’m setting up Nova to be the next ruler for after the time when Reul Ghorm dies or goes to another realm.
So, fairies don’t last forever. Longer, but not forever. Interesting.

If he isn’t Baelfire, then I’m now hoping Bae pops up as kind of a stable person (as unlikely as it may be): ONCE is almost full on their dark, mysterious bad-boys, emotional damaged with daddy issues quota. 😆
