Who says there anything to even go back to? Or that people would want to go back? Rumple’s pretty comfortable in Storybrooke. Once he has Bae, he will have power, wealth, and his son (and Belle now too!)

So, I think Rumpel will continue to do villainous things, but he’ll be indriectly allied with Emma. Of course, it won’t be out of the goodness of his heart, but it’ll be because he needs her for a future plan.HOPE!
I do think he has another job for Emma, and that is to track Bae down: Snow&Charming were good at finding each other, and Emma even made a career out of finding people.
Last season really did buildup Rumple and Emma being indirect allies. I keep thinking about the scene from True North where Rumple asks for forgiveness and Emma agrees to tolerance: that’s their alliance on the better days. It could be strengthened however, by how much both hate Regina.
