I agree. I think the writers deliberately chose a word that would have layers of meaning.
For it to work, it needs to go both ways. The evil queen says so in “skin deep”.

I think the kiss had no effect on Rumple because magic works differently in our world. He was already an ordinary man, not glittery and scaly, so there was nothing for him to change from.I think the “darker Belle” referred to her darker hair and was just a little tease to make us fans go crazy with theories. 🙂
I’m sure they deliberately picked that song for a specific reason, but I sure don’t know what that reason is. I heard/saw somewhere that the song is from an album titled, “Coney Island Baby.” Maybe that too has some relevance?
I thought it was a good, well-organized recap. We did learn that Charming’s name is James which I guess means that he and his brother had the same name? Or else his name was changed when he began impersonating his brother. Either way, I noticed that they referred to Charming as “James” several times.

It’s my understanding that hour long dramas take up a lot more of the actors’ time than half-hour sitcoms do. That could be why Kat is returning for Thor 2 and Josh isn’t. Or maybe “2 Broke Girls” shoots different days/weeks than OUaT. At any rate, I’m glad he’s returning to OUaT. It would be weird to have another actor play Charming.
While it seems from the season 2 premier that Emma does have magic, it still is unclear how far the magic went in our world. I don’t think they showed how far the purple smoke went; I don’t remember seeing it stop anywhere, just dissipate in StoryBrooke. It is possible that magic is in more of our world than just Storybrooke. At least, I think so. 🙂
