🙂 spidey- yeah, that’s one major clue!:) There’s like 3 paragraph’s worth of clues/connections supporting that theory 🙂
Excellent work team!
Wish i’d thought enough to think of that connection … I guess we are not looking as much at “fairy tales” as we are looking at “storybooks” and Frankentein is definitely one of them.[adrotate group="5"]lostuponatimeParticipant@DanielJLewis wrote:
Back to the original topic … 🙂
In The Secrets of Once Upon a Time‘s “Lady of the Lake” episode (not yet posted), they briefly theorized that maybe the gypsy was on of Jiminy’s parents. I initially dismissed that thought because of the required age difference. (“That Still Small Voice” was about 50 years before “Lady of the Lake.”)
But then I rewatched “Lady of the Lake” today and realized that Ruth said that it was spelled by a gypsy and given to Ruth by her mother. Thus, it could be possible that one of Jiminy’s parents was the one to spell the necklace. That would be cool to see that connection, but not necessary for the story.
Thank you for the gentle reminder to keep on task, Daniel! LOL! And yes, though I originally thought of Stromboli, the gypsy puppet master, I agree that Jimminy’s parents/people may be of particular interest to this story.
lostuponatimeParticipantOk – don’t mean to burst any bubbles here but for those hoping to catch a glimpse of young Peter … I don’t think it’s going to happen.
Here’s why:
When we first meet Belle, we meet someone that has a story only vaguely like the Disney film we know and love. In fact, her story is significantly different than any that we are familiar with. Moreover, her “beast” isn’t the hairy buffalo/bear/muskox man we’ve come to know and love, but The Dark One himself! As creators and head storyteller “Kitswitz” seems to be taking a little liberty with the storytelling – and that’s awesome in my book.
However, because of their track record win changing/merging stories, I’m going to go out on a limb NFC say that because the overall assumption is that Rumple takes the hand from Hook and throws it to a “crocodile”, we will not necessarily see Master Pan. Why? Because it was Peter who caught off Hook’s hand and threw it to the crocodile. And he liked the taste of him so much he’s been following him ever since! (Or so the story goes…)
If Rumple takes the hand … And evidently may even keep the hand … I’m gonna say no Pan. And as Kitswitz’s track record on naming episodes goes – that there’s something more than just the surface level interpretation to the titles (don’t even get me started on last weeks Lady of the lake), then I’m going to say that there is also no crocodile. He will also be metaphorical for, say perhaps Mr. Stiltskin … Dearie.
lostuponatimeParticipantIt might be interesting if the victim(s) are a small group of three … This would explain the three hot dogs (pork) on a platter in the cast photo on the ABC.com website at http://beta.abc.go.com/shows/once-upon-a-time/photos/seasons/02/season-2-cast-gallery/media/once-upon-a-time-season-2-cast
lostuponatimeParticipantI really hope that we don’t see the Holy Grail … though its forever joined to Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table stories thanks to T.H. White and Monty Python, it is also an icon of religion and faith. To bring an icon of faith into a show about fairy tales may cross a couple of boundaries.
I like the mention of it – the acknowledgment of it in a speech … but aside from the issues mentioned about, I really don’t think that there is any need for eternal life in FTL…

I swear I’ve almost had it with the Disney references … Okay, I don’t mean that. But to have Mulan in a show about storybook fairy tale characters is a little bit to “on the nose” for Disney-owned ABC. I don’t think it’ll be Esmeralda … Her story takes place in a REAL place: Paris. All of these other stories take place in non-descript kingdoms … But good guess! … I could be wrong … It has happened once before … 😀
Well the Legend of King Arthur took place in a real place, BRITAIN! But I don’t think Lancelot sounded very British. It’s perfectly possible to include Quasimodo and Esmerelda and just remove the Paris references like they did with Lancelot.
The legend of King Arthur is folklore stolen by the Brits mainly from French archetypes. Though I will submit that Belle is from provincial France, its easier to glaze over that than it is to forget that The Hunchback of Notre Dame may be from anywhere EXCEPT Notre Dame in Paris.
Accents aside – though as an actor that BUGS me to know end – I will say that the gypsy thing maybe an aspect of lore that we’ve already received. It was a gypsy that gave it to her. Nothing more. Nothing less. Though I will also submit that the puppeteer Stromboli from the Pinocchio story is a gypsy character … It maybe something to think about if the timelines match up.

saimejoxxers –
And if we ARE to read into this group photo – as has been done with past LOST cast photos, then are we to suspect that a deal will be struck with Regina as a new threat rises? Here’s why:and 5) last but not least … Rumple. He is not toasting ANYONE! Instead, he is holding a golden chess piece – not black, not white. And it appears to be a queen. Two things arise out of this: 1) it's gold. Not black or white. This could be interpreted as he's not following the standard “rules” but making up his own. OR he's playing his own game with his own motives. (I also love the “black and white” tip of the hat to Eddie and Adam's beloved LOST here too…)
Thoughts?
For Rumple chess set pic. [ I agree that he is holding up a golden queen. I think the queen refers to Regina and the gold part to King Midas. Not sure if that implys a relationship between the two either family wise or perhaps a deal..
The picture of Snow sharpening pencils makes me think she is using them as a weapon. Maybe she is trapped and needs them.
The picture of Rumple and the scarf does seem to tie in with the fact he spun straw into gold. Might as well put that gold yarn to use. Perhaps, Belle kniitted it for him. Another thought was the scarf was used to escape. I like the possiblilitie of Belle making it but he didn't find it until after she left.
The picture with Henry in front of the school with a horse. In his backpack is a shild with 7 astericks type stars. I wonder if that is the 7 dwarves or 7 lands/kingdoms? Also he is wearing a badge. Maybe he is acting as a deputy.
The main picture with all of them. Red is hold up a tray of hot dogs. Since there are three and hot dogs are usually made out of pork, I thought of the 3 little pigs story.
The picture of Belle at the diner. She is pouring tea into of the chipped cup. Perhaps she will work there. But she is distracted and the cup overflows. Who distracted her? On the counter looks like Jordan Almonds. But i am wondering what is written on the back chalk board? I can't read the writing.Very good points all around! I agree with the Rumple bits … Thought I included that in the original post – guess not. Also agree with the Red point too! Though I think it’s just a sight gap and a nod to the fact that she’s also the wolf … Perhaps we’ll see the story behind the hot dogs later this season!
lostuponatimeParticipantAnybody else see the LOST connection here too? Tallahassee = The Man from Tallahassee – Sawyer, the con-man/thief …
All things lead back to LOSTlostuponatimeParticipantThis is a very interesting thread … Especially since I’ve had a problem for a long time that The Miller’s Daughter in the original tale was to marry the King. But she doesn’t. She marries Henry in OUaT. If that relationship fell apart with George, that would explain it. Definitely looking forward to a King George episode.
