Hi, there. Your post is well thought out, is well stated, and offense is taken, at all. I do disagree with your opinion of compatability, however do agree there’s no point in that debate. Regardless, now would be a bad time to debate that anyway, because there are a lot of broken hearts out there. I don’t want to pour alcohol into anyone’s open wounds. Instead, I’d like to offer my heartfelt sympathies. Neal was a fictional character, but these characters always represent something, or someone who is real to us in our own lives. They are real to us. They become a part of us. Because of that, when things like this happen, something is taken away. The pain is real, because we loose a part of ourselves. That is why it is very understandable that there would be things said out of hurt. This is a grieving process, and you’re right. If it were Hook, we’d be just as devestated.
If I may offer something which may help a little (I hope), it is that while Neal died, Michael Raymond James’ fans can take comfort in knowing he is alive well, and according to an interview ith H&K I read this morning, might even appear in flashbacks on Once at some point in the future. He is such a good actor and from his twitter posts, it seems like he is a really great guy. Michael will have more projects in his future, and I hope we someday see him with a leading role on a tv series. Whether that happens or not, I hope his career has lots of success to enjoy for a very long time. I will miss Neal, too and as we continue to mourn him, I want you to know you are not alone. We may be Captain Swan, and we may love Captain Hook, but you, and Neal fans are still among friends. God bless.

As a mom to a 12 year old boy who has a second husband who stepped in to the “father” role in my son’s life since his bio dad is not in his life, I can’t wait for the upcoming CaptainCobra scenes. And I can confirm from a real life perspective that those scenes will NOT be about CS but will be about a man stepping up to fill a role that is desparately needed in a young man’s life. A man CANNOT fake interest in a child in order to score points with mom – it is obvious, trust me. And I am just talking from a situation where a child has been abandoned by his bio father not one in which there has been a death and the man stepping in to fill the role of the father loved the missing dad as well. Henry is going to be one very lucky kid in terms of what he is going to get from Hook. Hook wanted to be a father to Bae and regretted that he was never able to do so/made a huge mistake with him. How much more of an effort do you think he is going to put forth in fathering Henry for that reasom ALONE?? Than add in the fact that he will want to do it to honor Bae’s memory AND he will want to it because he loves Emma and Henry is a part of Emma, plus he doesn’t want to make the same mistake he made with Milah again – only loving the woman and not insisting on taking the entire package even if SHE didn’t want to.
That man is going to be the most dedicated father figure any one has ever seen – and he is going to make darn sure Henry knows all about Neal – with or without his memories. CS has NOTHING to do with this relationship which is what makes it so beautiful to me.!!
I love your post. My Dad was around, but never had what it took to be a “Daddy” when I needed it. I don’t know where my life would be, if it were not for my stepdad. I love the idea of seeing Henry and Hook bond this way.

With Neal’s death, it’s occurred to me that Hook and Emma have something new in common (and, I hope this isn’t the wrong time to bring this up). Neal won’t be there, but because of Hook and Emma’s close relationships with him, together, they can help Henry get to know his father better (even after he gets his memories back).

Yeah I suspect that too. Just don’t know how he knew or why he kept it to himself (if my suspicions are true that is).
I think he knew that yes, but I also think Neal knew. When he left the hospital, in so many nice ways (when he said “you’re standing in my way”, and Hook said “I am in your way”), I think that was Neal’s nice way of saying “there’s no stopping me”, and Hook knew that then, and long before they got back to Storybrooke. I think Neal is the “little bird” who gave Hook the message to find Emma (I got that from their private conversation in the hospital), and that Neal knew he was going to die, soon as he learned the cost of bringing his father back.

Folks, I am so sorry about Neal. Yes, I’m a Hook fan, but Neal really grew on me. This episode ripped my heart out. A&E were adamant this was necessary for the story. It breaks my heart, because I just feel like there was so much more they could have done with him. I will really miss him. I know a lot of hearts broke tonight, and my heart feels for Neal fans here, and elsewhere. I’m so sorry. Hugs and kisses, to everyone. XOXOXOXO
