Emma has been kind of bugging me too but I just read this and I feel better about her actions (at least in 3×14).
It touches upon a question in my head that Emma is probably wondering as well. Why was Hook’s return so perfectly timed?
Was he in fact spending his time trying to get back to her and everything happened to coincide? Did another curse really have to happen in order to get back to our realm? Did the person who sent him the potion also send him a way to get back to Emma? Did he spend that year thinking of her every day like he said he would?
Personally I find it hard to believe that a person that spent hundreds of years seeking vengeance for the death of his love would give up on Emma (who he thinks is his TL) so I want to assume that Hook DID spend that time seeking a way to get back, which would include the time he took getting his ship back.
Thoughts on this in particular from the link?
If Hook didn’t understand how important full disclosure is to Emma he certainly does now, so for him to keep what happened during the past year a secret it must be something big, something he feels will hurt her. It’s likely the story will be revealed to us in E3X17 “The Jolly Roger” so we can expect wonderful things from that episode…but between now and then, and especially with Neal returning, it’s going to be bumpy seas ahead.
What could have happened that is big, that could hurt Emma?

My thing is that I don’t see who else it could be due to who has been filming unless this is all trickery and the death doesn’t happen until later in the season than we think..like the finale? It does scream obvious though based on the promo… too obvious so I definitely agree with your points. Then again I thought Zelena being Regina’s sister was too obvious. Maybe they figured most of the fandom has guessed already? I did notice that the promo for US was way more death spoiler-y than the promo for Canada.
Wasn’t the death originally leaked by a crew member and then A&E decided to roll with it? I thought I heard/read something about somebody getting fired over it. The death spoiler definitely worked up the fans and generated buzz so maybe they are doing it intentionally for ratings since it is out now anyway… I remember Graham’s death being pretty obvious too.
I agree that they pretty much poo’d on Neal’s character. To me adult Bae/Neal was nothing but a plot device… a tool used to explain and develop other characters on the show. I really did want to like him but his lines/actions tend to fall pretty flat for me or are frankly upsetting (like when he mocked Emma’s “superpower” to her face in front of Henry). I feel bad for his fans. As a character he wasn’t really developed well.. much like Belle.
Wow. So okay CS moment aside that episode felt like filler to me. Emma looked beautiful in the opening dream/nightmare sequence and I did like the daddy/daughter moment even if it wasn’t real. I also liked that there was at least some discussion/concern over the fact that they left Emma again (even though it was obviously not by choice). I didn’t like how nonchalant they seemed in the first episode of 3B. The episode creeped me out, especially the way the hooded “fear” figure moved. Didn’t see that twist coming as to who was under the hood.
I liked the Charming = Cowardly Lion theory since she took his symbol of courage. Looking at the promo I personally think Belle is the Scarecrow since she is smart and it looked like Hook was protecting her in the shop (ironic) and Neal is the Tin Man since it looked like he was grabbing at his chest in pain
As to the CS moment /swoon. I loved how he got in her personal space and she didn’t back away. I can see why Hook is glad to see that her heart is still “working” because sometimes it seems like Emma has a heart of stone. Perhaps it is because she is telling herself that he is a pirate, he is just like every other man, etc., but sometimes I think Emma can be kind of mean to Hook. His face after she walked away
She just seems a little insensitive to his feelings I guess. Maybe that is just me being oversensitive lol. Despite my grumblings I think the moment was really good for CS. Following the theme of hope I think it gave Hook hope that it is actually possible to win her heart so he is going to keep at it. I also think that despite what Emma shows on the outside, inwardly she is all aflutter and that is why she has to keep walking away.Personally I am glad he didn’t give up what he did that last year though I am curious haha. I am also surprised that not only did she not push for him to tell her but she herself confided her feelings regarding Walsh. I think Hook spent his time trying to find a way back to Emma and possibly even gave up his ship as a way to get back to her, which would be super romantic.
Assuming Neal is the one that dies it will be interesting to see how Emma reacts to that. Does she push Hook away or does she let her walls down for Hook? I guess it is also possible it does nothing in terms of CS since Neal isn’t the one preventing CS from happening. I feel like something has to happen though to get from now to the point where Hook is the one watching over Henry by himself.
Maybe it was just me but for whatever reason I assumed the wedding was present day. What if it was in the enchanted forest before the curse hit? Definitely wouldnt be a CS wedding then.. Unless I missed something and it was confirmed as present day in the spoilers. It would be fitting for the wicked witch to interrupt an outlaw queen wedding with the curse?

Interesting idea and I agree with a lot of her points. I have questioned why Walsh proposed marriage. I would think being in a serious relationship would be enough to keep her there, especially since he acknowledged that he knew she would be skittish about the idea of marriage. So personally I do agree that it is an more significant plot point than it appears. I don’t think it will be a CS wedding though. I still think it is way too soon. I think whatever wedding it is will serve to show Emma that she does want a relationship like that and it will lead to major CS progress. At least I hope it isn’t a CS wedding unless there is a lot more CS development earlier in the season then I expect.
What episode is the death supposed to happen?
I think Henry knowing the full history between his parents is important for CS because Emma will not be able to use him as an excuse to justify ignoring her feelings for Hook. Like with Walsh, I think Henry will gently prod her to do what makes her happy. I am really looking forward to Henry/Hook bonding time and seeing how that impacts how Emma sees Hook.
As to the whole anti-stepfather thing I think that is misguided. Being with (or marrying someone) just because you have a child together ultimately ends up hurting everybody involved if you don’t truly want to be with that person. Children are very perceptive and are impacted by the tension. I think it is interesting though the theory on ships. My husband ships swanfire mostly because “it makes sense” and “Emma should be with her child’s father.” My husband comes from a very perfect 50’s TV type family whereas my family is dysfunctional and my parents are divorced. I am sure it doesn’t apply to everyone because these things never do but something interesting to think about.
I think that is a good theory. That line stuck out to me as well. There has been some hints as well in interviews about how far is he willing to go, etc. I am loving all the mystery with 3B so far

I loved this scene. Colin does a FANTASTIC job conveying Hooks thoughts and feelings. I love how Emma closed her eyes as if she needed strength to deal with him… lol.

I really enjoyed this episode. There wasn’t really any CS in it but definitely a lot of OQ and I loved the Hook snark about marrying the “monster” lol. I have to rewatch though because I took it as that Rumple was WW’s father but it sounds like it wasn’t as definitive as I thought. Neal would be the WW’s half brother then. WW touching Snow’s belly was creeeepy.

I think the fact that Neal is still MIA points to him working with the WW either by choice or force. Hook has been inconsistent with his story regarding how he found out about the curse, which definitely leads me to believe he is hiding something. I hope that doesn’t do damage to Emma’s trust in him? I still think Neal was the one who sent Hook the potion and I think the “trap” aspect of it is that Hook didn’t realize that Neal was working with the WW. I saw the tumblr pic showing the hooded figure in the promo and the pic of Neal. The clothes under the hooded cloak look very similar to Neal’s EF clothes. Especially the belt. Neal being the “dark one” would be a stretch for me though. With his hatred of magic I don’t see him taking that sort of leap unless the WW has something BIG on him. Maybe that is why she set the Walsh plan with Emma. She forced Neal by threatening Henry/Emma?

Jealous Pirate is jealous indeed. But I think he still cares for Bae regardless of the battle for Emmas heart . This is what I got from Hook; he could have remained an observer to the scene but 1. he made it clear that Bae was capable of taking care of himself and would eventually turn up 2. he made sure not to dash Emmas hope that Neal was okay. I do love how the camera always pans to Hook when Neal is brought up! Really subtle! Ive been voting @stelio!
I agree that he cares for Bae and his response about Bae being okay doesn’t surprise me either. The camera does seem to pan to him every time Neal is brought up lol.
