ParticipantOooohh I was reading a CS fic and in it Hook thought about how TLK is supposed to break any curse but how he tried TLK once before and it didn’t work. Do you think that will come up at all in the actual show? I think it would be good to revisit that and maybe the Charmings tell him it doesn’t work when memories are lost. There hasn’t been any mention of it at all about him trying TLK despite the fact that Emma would obviously remember that he tried.

ParticipantLOL- have to link to this pic (due to language)- showing the roller coaster ride the CS fandom is on right now:

ParticipantThe more I think about it the more I am okay with how everything went down in this episode. I think a lot of “Hook Haters” had a semi-valid point regarding Hook changing just for Emma because you couldn’t prove it one way or the other. Now with hope of her pretty much lost it is a lot easier to prove that Hook is changing *because* of Emma and her impact on him. Emma re-awakened Killian Jones and he is going to battle internally between KJ who wants to be an honorable man for himself and Hook who has suffered for hundreds of years and has lost everyone he loves. I think this was shown really well with his “you can’t go back. I have tried and it doesn’t work.” The Killian side of him is expressing guilt and self-loathing that he cannot ignore so he is no longer able to be happy with the pirate life anymore.
I think Killian will always have some Hook in him. You can’t keep a 300+ year side of you dormant forever but his honorable side is going to win when it counts. Once again I think this has been shown well so far in 3B. Killian teaching Henry to cheat at dice is a perfect example.
As to the ship thing I am still a little disappointed but not surprised. I wish he would have at least offered to help her. Have any of the heroes in this show been “tested” in a similar way though? Having to give up the only thing they had left to help a stranger with absolutely no benefit to them? The closest I can come up with is Charming when he helped Abigail but as far as he was concerned he had already lost everything since Snow told him she didn’t love him because of King George. Rumple’s sacrifice doesn’t count because he was saving who he loved most. Same with Regina at the end of 3A.
I have to say overall I am pretty darn excited though. It was angsty but very good stuff for our ship. Think Killian’s curse will be taken care of in Epi 19 since A&E wrote that one? I would assume that is going to be a big episode because of that. From what I can tell there are almost zero spoilers for that episode as well. Anybody know of any?
I rarely leave this thread because even here there is Hook hate. I will read chat but I don’t participate and if it starts to get anti-Hook I just stop because I don’t want to be baited lol. Ever since Neal’s death is does feel like CSers have to walk on eggshells otherwise we are being insensitive and/or cruel. I gloat a little to my husband just because he really doesn’t care about the show that much but I would never throw it in someone’s face who was really invested.
I might have brought hubby to the CS side a bit because I showed him that meta someone posted about Hook’s journey from hero to pirate to villian, etc. He was surprised at all the things that were pointed out (like how Pan was the first villain to offer Emma as reward instead of revenge on Rumple) and is now not as much of a Hook Hater 🙂

ParticipantGood points POM!
I agree that Hook needs to tell Emma. They are all in danger anyway and it looks like they will have to rely on Emma’s magic to ultimately save them since the writers have suggested Regina is not strong enough. Personally I was more disappointed that he didn’t just tell Emma upfront about the curse/threats than with the whole JR/Ariel thing.
I hate to theorize since I suck at it but I think Hook is going to end up telling Emma (or the Charmings) much like the Neal situation in Neverland and then they will go from there as a group pretty early on in the next episode. We are down to 5 left so I don’t see them drawing this out.

ParticipantKilly hiding his Hook from Henry (for Emma)… didn’t notice this. /aww

ParticipantSo that episode was a rough watch. I am kind of in the middle about everything that happened. I am disappointed that pretty much all of our theories crashed and burned but there was definitely some good progress for CS despite the bad things that happened. This episode gave me wayyyyy too many questions though and answered very little.
I really liked Emma embracing her magic. Loved the scene at the diner with Regina eating with the Charmings like a big happy family. I thought that was overdue and illustrated how far the characters have come. Regina’s reaction (and bad coverup) to Henry driving was funny as well. I also loved that Hook did not do anything with the prostitute. Despite some of his poor pirate-y decisions this episode he was at least faithful to Emma in that respect.
I did not like that Knight Killian was a meaningless promo tease. I thought Blackbeard was just a plot device and was wasted overall. I did NOT like that Hook lied to Emma even if it was a half-lie.
Despite obviously disagreeing with his choices and hoping he would choose a different path it wasn’t really OOC for Hook to do what he did. Hook has suffered a lot of losses in his life and he is not hopeful like the Charmings. I think this was further illustrated by the little CaptainCharming scene at the diner. Frankly, even the Charmings had apparently zero hope of seeing Emma again so I don’t think it is shocking that Hook wouldn’t have hope either. I think it would be pretty natural for Hook to seek solace in the one constant in his life (the ship) if he felt he would never see Emma again. I liked the double meaning of his words regarding the ship. I am not surprised that he was unwilling to give up the one thing he had left in order to help a relative stranger. I said it earlier that I don’t really consider Hook to be a hero (yet) and this was very clearly demonstrated. I think this was a good episode for anybody that thought Hooks redemption was going too fast.
I also think it is telling that this is the first time you really see Hook have regret/guilt over something he has done. The apology he made to fake Ariel was heartbreaking. The self-loathing now that it has snowballed into the curse is very apparent. I think him feeling worthy of Emma’s love is definitely going to be an issue at some point.
So timeline wise:
1 month – Hook tells the Charmings he was always a pirate and takes off presumably to rebuild a crew and find the Jolly Roger
3 months – Hook has a skeleton crew doing “Land Pirating”. Meets up with Ariel and chooses his ship over heroism
4-12 months – ?????
1 year later – Hook believes that Emma is his TL enough to immediately try TLK. Hook has somehow separated from his crew, which resulted in them getting cursed but not him. Jolly Roger is MIA again. Still no info regarding the message or the memory potion. Hook confesses to fake Ariel that Emma broke his heart but that he still loves her.
So now my questions are:
1. Emma let down one of her walls towards the conclusion of the episode telling Hook she didn’t care what happened and she is tired of living in the past. This was AFTER she is impressed that he helped Ariel and Eric reunite (which clearly wasn’t the case). Do you think that was at least a factor in what she told Hook at the door? Do you think she will regress in her feelings for him when she finds out the truth of what happened?
2. What the heck happened to the JR and how soon do you think he realized the mistake he made? We still have 9 long months of his missing year. Another Hook quasi-centric this season? What episode could it possibly be?
3. I have to re-watch but if I recall correctly he tells Ariel that he did it because he had a hole in his heart and that his heart was broken. Ariel tells him to swear on the woman’s name that broke his heart. So did Emma actually break his heart or did circumstances? Or did I misunderstand that.
4. What does Hook do now? He clearly wanted to at least talk to David, which didn’t happen. We also see him pull away at the end of the episode. With all of that self-loathing should we be concerned that he might attempt to remove himself from the equation since its lose-lose? Personally I think he needs to tell somebody.
Despite this being angst^2 this does setup TLK pretty nicely, which balms my hurt shipper heart. I think ultimately Zelena is underestimating Emma’s feelings for Killian and her little curse is going to get smacked down by TLK.
With regard to the promo: Clearly Hook is still involved to a degree since he is at the seance. What triggers the need for it? Does Hook tell them about the curse or does something else happen? It just seems kind of random. This is the episode with what looked like a Zelena/Rumple kiss right? (ew). Zelena is definitely becoming the destroyer of ships. She has pissed off SF, CS and now it looks like OQ is going to have a big problem this episode as well as Rumbelle fans if that kiss happens.

ParticipantLots of really great posts here and I agree especially about the show still be about hope, etc. I mostly just wanted to pop in here and say how happy that second sneak peek made me!!! Go Killy!

ParticipantLooks like the Wench is holding the memory potion. I feel better now haha. Perhaps he trades her the JR

ParticipantI don’t know maybe it is just me but I think Henry is going to be really angry *IF* he finds out that not only did she lie to him but she planned on permanently keeping him away from his other family. I could see him maybe be more understanding about just the lying but the plan she has/had to take him back to NYC probably won’t go over as well.
lumee23
ParticipantI don’t think TLK will happen this episode unless something serious happens to Hook because I don’t think Emma is there yet. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hook tells Emma he loves her. He has said/done all but say those words exactly so that would be the last possible thing he could really do. I picture her finding out about his last year and asking the stupid question “why would you do that?” and he gets PO’d and is like “bloody hell Swan! Isn’t it obvious?!?! Because I love you!” and then maybe we get a kiss (not TLK though because Emma is unsure of her full feelings) or we don’t really get anything except Emma finally letting down that last wall and seeing Hook objectively and thus moving forward from there. My hope is that at the very least we get Emma over that last hurdle internally this episode so we can really start moving forward.
One question that I had after re-watching the last episode is Zelena’s comment to Emma about her being an amateur. If she really felt that Emma wasn’t a threat why did she go through all that trouble to set the Walsh trap with Emma in NYC?
