ParticipantHUGS Slurpeez’s post
I agree on all account. Every interaction between Hook and Emma demonstrated how completely opposite they are to each other. They have different goals in life and that’s a surefire way to have a relationship in shambles if you aren’t in agreement of what the both of you desire together. Every look Emma gave Hook was a look of exasperation not eagerness.

ParticipantThis gonna be a bit long so bear with me…. *my emotions are all over the place, I can barely contain them!*
Ok right off the bat. I absolutely love Neal and his can do attitude. He wasn’t sulking, he wasn’t going to mope, he wasn’t going to take the fact that Emma and Henry were gone forever laying down. He didn’t listen to the Charmings. He went off and started formulating a plan with Belle.
*Seriously I’m crying right now* because after 3 months of hearing “Neal wasn’t in NYC, he doesn’t fighting for Emma!” excuses to hate him. It feels great having validation, to see his scene with the Charmings, that he IS FIGHTING FOR THEM. That even when everyone else lost hope he didn’t, not even with Rumple. He had the hope and determination of a hero! This GIF sums up my feelings for Neal right now…. *Neal I wanna just reach through my screen and give you a hug!*
There was sooo many SF parallels I’m sure you guys have posted already pages back.
But things that I loved:
- -Emma going to Neal’s apartment and immediately seeing the dreamcatcher right in front of her. Immediately know that it was Neal’s apartment. I love that Neal hangs it right in the middle of the room so he can look at it every time he steps in the apartment. And then later Emma regaining her memories back and thinking back to when she first saw the dreamcatcher again last year.
- – Love that another one of Emma’s memories is thinking back when Neal let go of her hand and fell through the portal. That was the pivotal “I love you too.” moment.
- -Emma experiencing her version of “Tamara” only this is a monkey with wings! And she was almost going to be officially engage to him too!
- -Emma and Henry wishing for a family. Same as Neal’s goal. Love the little moments between Emma and Henry with their “normal life”. You can tell this is what they’ve always wanted in every scene.
- -Emma loving the fact that she was a “Mother” for a year. Saying “It was a good dream”
- -Mama Belle and Step-son Neal giving hope to each other! *gushes* 🙂
- -Robin, reunited with Neal and Belle!!! They’re all connected. *The world is beautiful! sings*
- -Henry playing matchmaker with Emma and Walsh (not Hook, like everyone theorized) He recognizes the potential family man in Walsh. *Ahem* Neal is a family guy too! *wink* 😉
- -It was gut wrenching to see Henry having bad memories about Neal. I hope Emma can ease him into regaining his memories and telling him Neal wasn’t all that bad. But I predict there might be an emotional moment when Neal and Henry reunite. Henry might think badly of Neal for hurting his mom but Neal will win him over and make him remember the time they spent together. *I suspect tear-jerker moment!*
Thing debunked…
- -Hook turning into a “hero” nope…he only did it for EMMA and then he went right back to being the scoundrel pirate he so relishes and eager to hop back on his ship and sail off solo. It’s very telling that Hook outright says he’s a man of the sea and Emma is looking for family and a home to settle down in. It seems too early to tell, but Hook still doesn’t seem like the family material that Emma craves for herself and Henry. Since he was so keen on putting his hook back on the moment they drove back to Storybrooke. And Emma warning him not to frighten Henry with his hook.
- -Everyone’s prediction of the line “I tried the hero thing, it didn’t take.” Belonging to Regina, actually belonged to Hook as I theorized. People claiming that Hook changed for the better permanently because of influences of Emma has been debunked. I’m actually glad that the writers keep Hook’s pirate character intact. He’s not redeemed, not yet anyways. I think he arc strongly mirrors Regina. He’s slipping back into his old ways once he got back EF.
- -Hook and Henry’s “bonding” time involves Henry’s SASS towards Hook. And Hook calling him a SpitFire! Henry’s a mini version of sarcasm like his dad!
Overall this was an amazing episode. I was ready to accept a lot of Hook and Emma scenes, but there wasn’t as much CS as everyone says. I even loved that Hook was there just being himself, kicking back with some drinks with Emma.
The overall feel of this episode had #HOME # FAMILY #HOPE written all over it. Things that SF can strongly relate too 🙂
*Whew sorry for the long post!*lunatiger

OK I need some time to compose my thoughts, but I thought it was a great episode. And not as bad (or as many CS stuff) as people have been saying.

ParticipantFrom Wicked Special
Ginny – “Rumplestilskin’s son ends up with Snow White and Prince Charming’s daughter.”
Why do I feel the need to add this simple line? Because it’s as freakin fairytale sounding as you can get…

ParticipantI love Belle. Don’t get my query wrong, I just thought it odd that all the other “Princesses” aside from Milan, who isn’t an princess in the movies or story, are recognized but Belle is not. Belle is one of my favorite characters.
I don’t necessarily think that making Belle a princess would make her more or less important. Frankly I hate that everyone is a freakin princess. So it was nice to see Belle was the exception but was still awesome because of her character not because of some title. And also sometimes I wish ONCE wasn’t so Disney like. Being a princess is overrated. I rather be like Mulan.

Participant
I was watching the special “Wicked is Coming” which was leaked early. Robert Carlyle said something which really stood out to me,
“I think that happy endings are earned. I don’t think they’re necessarily just given to you, you know, just lying around.”
That got me thinking that we’ve seen Rumple already starting to “earn” his happy ending (by sacrificing himself to save Rumple and Belle). I just can’t see that sacrifice being in vain, meaning Bae and Belle must live. Well, we all know that Rumple considers Neal to be his happy ending.
Likewise, I think we’re going to see Neal and Belle team up to fight for their happy endings too, which includes fighting for their true loves and family. The other thing that struck me is that so far, Hook hasn’t done much in “earning” his idea of a happy ending….so far everything has come pretty easily to him, and by the sounds of it, by pirating ways. Could it be that just while it seems like Hook is going to be on easy street in S3b by showing up on Emma’s doorstep, it’s really Neal who is going to be doing most of the heavy lifting to earn his second chance? Hmmmmm. Too bad ABC focused so much on the CS kiss in NL and the CS forced kiss in NYC in 3×11, but I feel like this is just a marketing ploy and a distraction from the subtler, yet truer hints A&E have given us: Emma going home to NCY because of a fire.

I agree @Slurpeez108 ~ I also watched the special and first off I was happy that MRJ and Emilie was included in the line up. It was interesting that RC said that. Both Rumple and Regina earned their redemption by sacrificing in a major way. Rumple gave up his life for EVERYONE, and his chance at a happy ending with Belle and Bae to save their lives. Regina gave up Henry to Emma so that he wouldn’t be alone to stop Pan’s curse. They’ve both GAVE UP something that was important to them to save all and not just themselves. They both GAVE UP something that they’ve being trying to fight and hold on to for so long. So far Hook’s storyline kinda paralleled Regina’s from last season. He hasn’t made the BIG sacrifice yet to earn his redemption. Regina was trying to be good for Henry, just like Hook is trying to be good for Emma. But Regina slipped back into her ways again and it wasn’t until the season 2 finale that she was willing to make the big sacrifice in potentially giving up her life and Henry. And it wasn’t until 3A that she did give up Henry completely to Emma, (something that she would not consider prior) When push comes to shove would Hook be willing to sacrifice something important to him (which in this case it’s his life and Emma) to save the day? If he was faced with impending doom, would he make the big sacrifice, whether it requires that he give up Emma or his life or both, just like Regina was willing to, to save Henry?
I think my thoughts on CS might change if we were shown that Hook is capable of doing that. Neal was willing to, even though August lead him astray. Neal was willing to sacrifice his happiest with Emma if it meant she could find her real family and save EF. I want to see Hook make that move and acknowledge that he is a villian. Regina called herself a villian to Henry. And Rumple acknowledge he’s a villain while stabbing Pan. They’ve both to some degree admit that what they did in the past was wrong, by calling themselves that.
And I like that A&E emphasizes that the OZ story arc to about finding HOME, something that both Emma and Neal spent all their lives looking for. I’m pretty hopeful, that this would impact their storyline together, because it’s a fact that it’s their primary goal from the very beginning of the show.
Happy ONCE day guys!!!! WE’VE MADE IT! Give yourselves a pat on the back. Or maybe some celebratory vodka. (LOL It was a loooong hiatus)

ParticipantWhat are you most looking forward to in 312?
Neal in full EF costume! *Dies* Step-son Neal and Step-mama Belle interacting! *Squee!!!!* A glimpse at Henry and Emma’s “normal” life in NYC. Regina and Robin meeting and seeing Aurora and Philip again! YAY!!! I believe it’s not gonna as bad for SF, as everyone predicts. I’m still hyped about everything. 😉

ParticipantDid anyone ever realize that OUAT exists because one decision Bae made to save his father? If Bae hadn’t gone to the blue fairy By Me Had Bae not gone to BF he would not have recived the magic bean- without the magic bean Bae would not have gone to NL. Because Bae did not go to NL Rumple did not go crazy tring to go to TLWM. as a result see no use in going to Cora’s aid and Cora would have been killed because her lie about spunning straw into gold- and by doing so ending the Mills family line. Because Cora is dead no one killed Queen Eva Snow is raised by her mother as a royal and is not forced to become a bandit therefore not meating Charming because a. she never ran away and b. he is still a Shepard. Because Cora died and Regina wasn’t born Rumple couldn’t force Regina to pull her finacial support from King George he never had to turn to Midas and James would still be alive. Since Snow did not meet Charming Emma was never born since Neal never came to TLWM and probably died some 200 years ago and Emma was never born Henry did not exiat either and therefor was no curse and no show so what have we learned? Neal is the most needed character on this *beeping* show please ignore any grammatical and spelling problems I’m on my phone and I have big thumbs
This is BRILLIANT. I have never seen it broken down like this before . I even tweeted Adam. Lol. Amazed! Our Nealfire!! <3
I agree that's a great way to look at it. Nealfire's decision to save his dad caused a ripple effect on everything else that has happened. In a way Nealfire created Emma. And they meet and fall in love. It all comes to full circle.
#BOOM!
1 more day guys!!! AHHH!!!!! 🙂

Participant
Well there was one thing I want to bring up from the E! piece (fair warning to the lurking CSers…you might not appreciate what I’m saying) Hook sits and sulks. Really? That’s his solution to going to get Emma? Everyone has been harping on him finding Emma and TL always find one another but from the sounds of it, Hook gives up rather quickly and decides to wallow. It’s Neal who is the man of action. The second he gets back he goes to work. Snowing try to get him to let Emma have a happy life and I do think he considers it but I also think Belle is gonna smack him upside the head (that’s my girl!) So WHAT changed Hook’s mind?? What made him go from ennui to action? Did something get easier? Was there suddenly a magical option? Just some food for thought
I agree RG. That sentence stood out to me when I read that line from the article it puts into perspective of what earlier articles say about Hook’s pirate ways. So all of the CSers applauding Hook’s dedication to finding Emma!!! Yeah…no…it doesn’t sound like he was all too dedicated into finding her and pretty much giving up in defeat right off the bat until an opportunity presented itself that looked favorable to him. (This is an E article too, you know that they sway in favor towards Hook.) Neal however was set in his mind to try and look for them right away, just like he did in 3A. He just right back up (mind you he had a bullet wound!) and started formulating a plan to get to Emma and Henry. Why CSers throw Neal’s dedication under the bus is beyond me… So the question is how does Hook get to NYC first before Neal? And what happened to Neal? That’s the question I want answered.
@Lunatiger OMG. I love your entire post but especially the part about the heroes journey. So there is this classic literary trope used by the Greeks a lot called the καταβασις (katabasis) which literally means to move down, but in literature is most often descent into the underworld (read more HERE ) Now it’s a classic part of heroic tales (Odysseus, Aeneas) but it could be taken more metaphorically instead of the Greek literal version.
I think it’s storytelling 101. I like to think they’re giving an “Odyssey” like adventure to Neal. Remember in the Odyssey, Odysseus traveled to many lands, but his ultimate goal was to get back home to his wife and son. He was near death several times and it was a long journey but he finally made it back home to his wife and son. I kinda wanna see Neal do that as well. By the sound of it, it looks that way, with him and Bella “off on an adventure” and Neal’s main goal, getting back to Henry and Emma.
