It’s quite funny how much CS fans want to see Hook in blue jeans and we SF fans are salivating at the idea of Neal in his FTL leathers and cape.

This latest tidbit about Neal is very interesting! I’m glad to hear that the writers are going to explore more of his own personal issues without the extension of it being attached to Rumple, but his own personal dilemma about his own family and his mentality of it all.
I would love to see them explore Neal going through the torment of potentially going dark to save his loved ones just like his dad. I don’t believe he will totally give in but it would be interesting to see. I do think this time it won’t be an easy choice to make because he has Henry and Emma to think about. It’s not just himself anymore. He’s been resilient because it was just him against the world. But now that he’s a father, would he stoop to desperate levels to get back to Henry and Emma? We’ve seen him kinda do it in EF.
I really don’t get the death spoiler if they’re giving him some juicy storylines to work with. Seems premature to kill him off. I’m holding on to hope that we see more of Neal’s psyche and centric episode.

But I do want to ask when you guys starting shipping Swanfire?
I think I really started hard core shipping it after the Return. I just *knew* Baelfire was Henry’s father. And for me, Neal has always been Bae. I see ZERO disconnect between the two. He was a good boy and a great man now. And when we saw him in Broken, I just yelled “BAE!!!!” and knew. I actually found a post of mine from way back when S2 just started when I posted in some random thread, “I’m such a SwanFire girl” and I think we had just met “mystery man”
That is absolutely amazing RG! Shipping SF before it even aired. I’ll admit I was a bit on the fence that Emma’s fireman reference was Bae at the time, (but then again I was a “casual” viewer back then and didn’t find this site until after the finale, and didn’t start fangirling and obsessing until after season 1 finished. I really put my faith that SF has some ways to go. It just doesn’t make sense to me from the spoilers, not from the story that we’re given. I notice most people started after “Manhatten” but it’s awesome that you shipped it before it even graced the screen. I love it.

I’ve been kinda MIA from OUAT for a while, because quite honestly I had to take a break from the fandom in general. It’s a nasty battlefield out there! I’ve also been quietly working on some SF stuff on the side, (but kinda hard between juggling with my full time and part time work, so it’s slow going.)
But I have been lurking though, invisibly, and popping in here and there to see what’s going on in the OUAT universe. I love what you guys posted because it keeps hope alive for all SFers out there. Most news hasn’t been good for our ship, 🙁 I have to say, but I try to remain optimistic because we don’t know the full story of what’s going on until we actually SEE IT in CONTEXT. Remember that word, my friends, it’s extremely important. Just because one reporter or spoiler says something doesn’t mean it’s the end of the world. I remember the first batch of spoilers we got, writers describe Hook being “scheming” and “scoundrel”. Doesn’t sound all that positive. And then another batch of spoilers kinda contradicting it and totting the 3×12 episode to be pro- CS. Of course people will have their favorites and bias, (we’re human after all) we’ll just have to wait and see what happens. I still don’t believe Neal will die or that they can wrap Neal’s story within 4 episodes with soooo much going on. I feel it will be a cop out otherwise. Unless it’s a behind the scenes issue and not a story issue. The fact that Neal mentioned Ruby Slippers in 3×01 tells me that he has an important part in 3B even if we don’t see it in the spoilers. Him, Rumple and Regina were the only characters that I can think of that had some OZ reference attached to them which is what 3B is all about!!!! Coincidence? I think not!
Something tells me that I’m gonna have to give Nealfire and great big bear hug, since he’s seems to be the one who’s most in pain, having separate from his son and love of his life not to mention losing his father all in the span of a day and aching for them ever since. Gah! It’s so heartbreaking just thinking about it. I’m sure we’ll get some heavy feels from this episode on Neal’s side; I’m looking forward to his interaction with Belle. But you know what? If it wasn’t this angsty, I don’t think I would be shipping it as hard as I do. Maybe it’s just me, maybe I’m a sucker for angst ridden drama, because it’s all the more rewarding if/when we do see Emma and Neal get back together after all the struggles, heartaches, and separations that they’ve endured over the past seasons. And there has been quite a bit of it to the point where it brings us to our knees with despair, but that’s when #Hope shines through. And of course our ship always has #Hope attached to it.
I don’t have much to add other then what you guys brilliantly posted already. But I do want to ask when you guys starting shipping Swanfire? I see people starting to ship it at various points in the show. For me it was immediately after they aired Tallahassee. It was like love at first sight LOL. Even when we weren’t sure that Neal=Baelfire at the time. There was still a charm about SwanTheif that I liked. I’ll admit I wasn’t an Emma fan until after I watched Tallahassee and SAW everything she had to endure, wandering around on her own and going to prison. But I also didn’t vilify Neal, like so many others and understand that he wasn’t the deadbeat that Emma made him out to be in season 1. He was a guy caught in an unfortunate circumstance that was out of his control. (Oh how I remember forum wars of people dismissing Neal and felt like the only oddball because I totally missed where all the hate was coming from.)
Then it became an obsession after “Manhattan” aired when it’s was confirmed that Neal is Bealfire. And I felt it threw their romance into massive proportions, because of the .00001% chance that Emma the savior and Nealfire (the boy from whom the curse was formed) would bump into each other and fall in love on their own. That’s a magical fairy-tale story right there.
LOL, I was going to share my latest post with you all tonight. But I see Heather beat me to it. WOW Thanks Heather! Honestly I hope it lifts everyone’s spirits up, because I just don’t see Nealfire getting the axe. Nope I just don’t. Hope, Faith, Belief, that’s what I love about Neal and Swanfire. To kill that would be to kill the core aspect of the show.
WOW I come back into OUAT fandom and I hear talk about a major character dying?!?! It’s all over Tumblr and the forums. *Sigh I’m sure this is repeated but…* I don’t believe it’s Neal. It just doesn’t make sense from a writing standpoint. He already “died” last season and made everyone a mess because of it, especially Rumple and Emma and Henry. To have him die again would be soooo redundant. We’ve already explored all the characters emotions when he supposedly “died”, it doesn’t add anything new to the story to have him die again. It would just be a rehash of the beginning of season 3. Also there is much to be explored with his character. I still have hope that it will be explored in the later episodes of the season. It took over a year to get an Emma backstory. I’m not surprised that it might take that long to get Neal’s. Emma and Neal’s backstory in our world isn’t quite as thrilling as seeing magical EF stuff. But Nealfire’s conception was from the beginning of the show. I can’t see them killing off such a major character after so much happened.
If I had to pick who’s going to die, it would most likely be Hook. It’s not because I ship SF. From a storytelling standpoint he is the one that has the least ties to any character or any storyline for that matter, saved Emma. Also his “romance” with Emma is a one sided-one that hasn’t even been acknowledged by the other party for half of the season. It’s telling to see that Hook has no other story other then Emma and to me that is not a strong enough to hold his character especially when it’s only him doing the romancing. The Neverland arc is pretty much done, which his character wasn’t even fully integrated in. We didn’t get any background on his time there, or his relationship with Pan, or anything related on Hook and Neverland. I don’t think Neverland is going to be explored again anytime soon. At least with Neal we can explore his relationship with Henry and Rumple. His background in both EF, Neverland, and our world.
If this was because an member of the cast is unhappy and wants to leave then I’ll be sad. If it comes out that it was because of difficulties with the fandom then I have to say I can’t support the show anymore. But I can’t see that being the reason. I’m sure every actor on the show has there fair share of haters out there. So have hope fellow SFers! Our ship is always about hope!
Hello Fellow Swanfirers!!! Haven’t been on the forums much because of the holidays Honestly I’ve been a bit turned off by OUAT fandom in general after reading the whole MC vs SQ shippers fiasco. @_@ but reading all your posts just warms my heart.
I’m in Disney World right now, so I can connect via Wifi. Saw quite a few OUAT and OUATiW posters around the park. Yay! ^_^
Just some insights that have been in my head about SF. Sorry if this is repeated. I’ve gotten the courage to go on tumblr again, and yet again I see people say SF is done and over. Hook is here rallying for Emma’s love. He went to New York for her. But I say different. Emma and Neal were planned from the conception of the show. As annoying as it is to see them separate them over and over again, it’s pretty much storytelling 101, for dramatic effect. SF’s love will come together at the end like other couples I’ve seen. Bones & Booth, Matthew & Lady Mary, Castle & Kate, Ross & Rachel. All these couple took YEARS to come together. Ross and Rachel especially after make-ups and break-ups, several exes, and baby dramas to boot!
No matter what happens Neal will always have a connection with Emma because of Henry. HE WILL ALWAYS BE THERE. I see that people wish Neal was killed off so that they don’t have him as some sort of third wheel in the background, but he’s here to stay whether you like it or not. I know we all personally hope that Neal and Emma will reconcile with each other after their long history and epic love story. Even A&E said it was too poetic to change. If they were going to have Emma truly fall for Hook instead then please just have Emma say to Neal it’s over, she doesn’t think it can work out between them anymore like an adult and put us out of our misery. Yet we see Emma still clings on the notion of him throughout season 2 & 3 but is afraid to open her heart again in case something else that happens that will tear them apart.
As much as I adore Colin’s portrayal as Hook (not the writing just his charisma) I will never support CF because of the notion that Hook has tried to lock her up to starve in a rotten dungeon and repeatedly insulted and harmed her friends and family. There’s just too much there for it to be a viable romance. A fling maybe but romance? I don’t know. (Still shipping Tink and Hook since there’s no bad blood between them there) I’ve yet to see Emma really show any sort of care towards Hook other then a friend or comrade. Hook may show his feelings toward her but you would think she would reciprocate them or show a bit of interest in what he said to her? Nope haven’t seen it. Hook doesn’t really know Emma at all as a person. I believe he’s in love with the idea of her. Strong, brave, speaks her mind woman that he idealize just like we idealize certain celebrities and how they portray themselves on the exterior. But we don’t know anything behind the scenes then what we are shown. Neal knows her, at her best and worst because of their time together. I’m predicting in the end Hook will come to realize that he has the capacity to love again. I think Emma just helps point the direction for him.
