I’m seriously trying to slap myself awake. I had a horrible nightmare that Neal died, and died OOC. Then Emma forgot about him and is getting puppy dog eyes with Hook. Hook desperately wants to kiss Emma but has cursed lips. And everyone is in town is harking towards CS.
*Wakes*
*BEEP! It wasn’t a dream!*

[adrotate group="5"]lunatigerParticipantAfter watching the scenes online, I just get more upset. Neal just died and now theyâre shoving the whole âHook is great with Henryâ scenes right smack in our faces. And have to blatantly reinforce it every 5 minutes as if theyâre trying to convince us this fact. But it just comes across as trying TOO hard.
Itâs as if the writers just donât give a ratâs behind anymore. So they show how Hook is great with Henry by teaching Henry how to gamble and CHEAT. Then we find out Hook taught Henry how to sail with a âborrowedâ ship (AKA stolen ship) which Henry is all too cool about. They had to actually killed Neal, a GOOD father, that taught his son how to sword fight in the park and took him out for pizza and replaced him with the step-daddy pirate teaching him how to lie, cheat, and steal. OMG what the hell??? Theyâre actually promoting this as good???
I was again floored by how OOC everyone is. Charming trying to be âcoolâ by letting a 13 year drive? What?
Blackbeard another wasted character like Rapunzel that pretty much did nothing and did not help with the progression of the overall story. And he looked more like Captain Hook then the actual Hook. When I watched that scene I had thought Colinâs character was an imposter.
*Thereâs not enough vodka to help me through the pain at realizing what OUAT has become* *Cries* T_TlunatigerParticipantNeal died like TWO days ago on screen. No mention of him AT ALL. Everyone is just going on with their lives. :â(
I’m pretty much in shell shock at reading the latest episode. But then again the moment Neal died I had an inkling that they would do this. But I didn’t think it would be just 2 days after the man died!!!!!
UGH! đ
*Goes to watch GOT to cheer herself up*….Never did I think the most depressing show would be the one that uplifts my spirits and remind me there still good storytelling on television… OUAT obviously isn’t…
lunatigerParticipant*Beep* almighty. I didn’t watch it the episode live, but I read the spoilers and saw the GIFs on tumblr. Seriously??? What I read sounded like the biggest CS fanfic episode ever
Christ, A&E aren’t even trying anymore are they? Did someone put a gun to their head and said “You must go the CS route or else!” I can’t believe they would sanction this…magical plot devices galore…
*cries* at what OUAT has become…. T_T
lunatigerParticipantI have no idea how this got on this page *runs away*
Yowza! @_@ *blushes*
The lack of MRJ on my screen had been noticable as of late. đ I started rewatching Terriers and True Blood again. Damn his sexy Cajun accent. When he speaks small phrases of French. My heart melts into a puddle… đ
And the Shatner tweets about CS continue with just “puppy dog affair” (X)I salute you Captain Kirk!
lunatigerParticipantOk, im going to say somthing about some posts that were writen in previous pages, and in this case is related to MRJ leaving or not. I think i read here someone saying that MRJ would not ask to leave, bc of hate he is to professional, and should be prepared to hate and love from fans. Then there is a friend of mine that says that she also doesnt believe that he would wanted out, because was to rush, and also if contract break ABC could even sue him. Then we arrive to the storyline reason, dont think so, bc was to rush, and to quickly and no way this was decided like between seasons, i mean ABC wouldnt want to pay an actor a whole year, and use him for only few episodes just for the writers fan, and also were A/E looking for him not the opposite, that is why i think was something decide during NVL arc, not beg, so MRJ would still had 1 season contract. Now ABC, would the network pressure them to kill neal, to make CS? maybe , but they would knew that was what the fans would think, and would look bad for the network, also was just the case of putting neal with someone else, they wouldnt need to kill him. However, what if was a conbination of all the above factors, MRJ wanted to leave, A/E didnt know what to do with Neal on Oz arc and ABC wanted to push CS as couple? An that the solution for this would be, kill him in a episode that would move the story the rest of the season( that was A/E part), pretend he was working and not look for other jobs( MRJ part), and keep him on credits and pay him until the end of the season as way to compesate the time lost on the show, avoid spoilers and could still use him in FB until the end of season,so avoid pay him per epi if was necessary(ABC part). During his twiter stament MRJ said that he loved to work with the writers, cast, crew, and network from down to top, so made me think, and i confirmed in the chat that ABC is the the last of the networks to tell shows next year, and now i wonder , probably not true, what if since MRJ couldnt look for pilots, to avoid spoilers, what if to compensate him ABC promissed him a regular place in other of their big shows? and that is why MRJ still didnt made interviews, that same with the cast that knows the deal, and only after the show ends, and ABC says the shows for next season we will find out, bc MRJ did say stay tuned. This is just a crazy idea that crossed my mind.
I find everything is just so weird at this point. None of the cast tweeted very much about the death or about MRJ. MRJ had to publicly explain himself about the writing of the episode and then Adam came into the fray (probably to avoid dealing with the onslaught of backlash) There’s just something suspicious going on behind the scenes. Because it’s unbelievable to me that they consider this bold writing. When what they wrote in season 1 is an example of actual BOLD writing.
I wish the come clean like and make things clear. Because it just made everyone even more suspicious. Like what the writers and actors did in Dowton Abbey. The actor wanted to leave. People were heartbroken but they got over it quick. I loved that show and was heartbroken the character got killed off but I accepted it. And they did it so that it MADE SENSE. They also continued the story in a manner that made sense from the aftermath of the death. The everyone was in mourning for at least 3 episodes. It was in character. The death propelled the story forwards and everything the character does was in direct result of that moment.
Neal’s just came out of left field. It did not propel the story any further then if he didn’t die. Everyone mourned him for 1 episode and seem to have quickly forgotten and moved on to the next catastrophe.
lunatigerParticipantI was listening to Operation Cobraâs final podcast (315) and I realized that not only did I agree with everything they said about Quiet Minds but that the writing on ONCE is really starting to bother me as well. Inconsistent rules of magic, huge gaping plot holes, characters acting OOC to what theyâve done before, curse/amnesia/TLK/villains who have the same psychological makeup as the one before, lack of equal representation of all kinds of people, filler and colorless characters, no time to breathe or explain because you must advance plotâŚ. There is a difference between hating/bashing and having actual legit criticisms. A lot of what people say are legit criticisms. But lately it just gets shot down as âyouâre a haterâ
Yeah…I also listened to their podcast and realized I was nodding my head at ALOT of what they were saying. It was refreshing to hear someone just straight up say the writing is pure crap at this point. Makes me feel like I wasn’t going crazy. That I didn’t have to bow down to the all mighty A&E and their “brilliant” team of writers, because I felt there was nothing brilliant about it. The only reason I stuck around was for the characters.
Then I started listing to their previous episodes and found I pretty much straight up agreed with almost everything. From the contrived magical fix-its to the plots that were left open never to be explored again. It just got worse and worse, when I was hoping it would get better if I held on. There was just too much crap I put up with up until now and “Quiet Minds” was my breaking point.
lunatigerParticipantHey guys â I was going over the writing and handling over Nealâ âdeathâ with my boss who is a screenplay writer and he keeps going back to the lack of âweight in his arcâ. Meaning the viewers had a general sense of who Baelfire was but there was always a level of distance between where Baelfireâs story cut off arriving in Neverland to the abrupt continuation once he meets Emma as Neal Cassidy. Thereâs a difference between deliberately being vague on the backstory of your characters with the intention to payoff the information during a crucial moment and just beingâŚ.lazy. The writers claimed this had been planned early on in the season. If they had the desire to click off his exit by tiddying up loose ends with his father, emma, and even hook then surely they could have addressed one of the biggest gripes from those who were unable to connect to who Baelfire grew up to be. Who was Neal Cassidy? Seperate from a guy Emma got knocked up from when she was a teen? The writers used his childhood and implied isolated adsolscent moments in Neverland but failed on allowing the man to stand on his own merit. Usually when you go in with the intent to kill a pivitol character with broad connections on canvas you build and write for them. Neal had the lowest amount of airtime second to Belle before reintroducing him to your audience before killing him off in the same episode. The death while beautifully acted did not resonate nor had the lasting emotional zing that under a better written show would have delivered. Someone earlier mentioned perhaps emma could have called regina and placed neal under some type of temporary stasis until they could figure out what to do. I think if the writers for whatever reason were adament to get mrj out by 3Ă15 they could have written a poigant send off while honoring Baelfire and Neal if they switched up of the episodes and dumping that filler with the tower and moving the contents of quiet minds in its place. Episode ends with neal being placed in a stasis by both emma and regina. The following episode (fill in 3Ă15â˛s slot) in present day is devoted to emma and co., trying to find a solution while Neal is in the hospital. The past is devoted to Baelfire having escaped Neverland once again landing in our world. We uncover how he learned the tricks and trades of the world, why he chose his new alias to stealing the bug. His final flashback scene could have taken place the day emma was released from prison in phoenix with Neal hidden nearby watching as she drove away in the only home they ever found in our world towards TallahasseeâŚ. without him. While heartbreaking, would have resonated and really drove home his words to her as he was held in her arms. Unable to find a magical solution Rumple and emma come to realize they have to let him go. Rumple gets a scene alone with his son, hook gets one where he gets to apologize and vows to protect his family in his honor, ending the episode with emma bringing henry to meet and say goodbye to the father he never knew, he knew. Closing scene is the trio having a bittersweet poignant family farewell holding his lifeless hand one final time as emma tells henry his father was a hero. The outcome would be the same but the pacing and delivery while heartbreaking would have made a senseless death somewhat easier for your viewers to accept while delivering great drama with weight. While honoring the memory of both the child and the man he grew to be. Wow..sorry for the drabble I just needed to get this of my chest after an interesting discussion with my boss about all this mess.
Exactly. Like him or not, Nealfire was introduced as a pivitol character in the whole mythology of OUAT. But as time goes by the writers never bothered to expand upon his adult self, and we only got a vague recollection of his childhood. It’s what makes audience disconnected. If we had learned more about his life and wrapped up his ties to the main characters it would have made a more accepting and impactful death. There were so many chances at this and the writers failed to deliver, only to make us watch multiple Snowing/Regina/Rumple scenes that gave little substance to what we already know.
Beautifully written. I like your ending better. If he had to die, yeah I’d rather he go out in your version then the writer’s sloppy mess. Which is the prime reason why so many are shocked and angry. The blow would have been easier to deal with.
lunatigerParticipantalso dont want to have hope and i dont even know if i want to see MRJ coming back, in FB is to painful and there will be no storyline to used him in FB, in 322 i think that will hurt even more to see him saying goodbye to emma and henry again, and would make the fans ask to bring him as a ghost or spirit to guide henry, i think i dont want that. I guess i dont have hope that the show will get better, in fact i thing is only going down, from now on. Especially bc of they go with bringing everyone from dead except neal, they will need to explain things very well.
This is what I’m afraid of. Having Neal back for a brief moment only to kill him AGAIN. It just too contrived for me. It’s bad enough that Neal died. How many times are they going to bring him back and rip him away? It just renders the story even more convoluted. The Dead is dead motto is pretty much a joke at this point. They’ve ruined it with reviving Rumple. Either he stay dead or he stays alive. (Even though I much prefer alive) And have something that sticks and make your point across that you aren’t toying with the viewers. I fear another revival would just cheapen his character even further. I’m keeping a small bit of flame of hope that they might revive him permanently. But I’ve also resign to the fact that they’ve botched the death episode beyond repair if they’re keeping him dead, without any sort of resolution. They should have had more of the conclusion to his arc then a mere 1-2 min interaction with everyone.
lunatigerParticipantOuch? http://nealfire.tumblr.com/post/82132544104/now-my-head-is-splitting-at-the-seams-welcome

Don’t look CSers this isn’t pretty:
Read the press release for 3×17. My face went like this… o____O ! You know what part I’m talking about.
*Vomits*…. not “replacing” Neal my butt…. it sounded like it came straight off of a fanfic.
