ParticipantPriceofMagic wrote: I think the message of Once in regards to love and romance is that there is no perfect relationship. Most fairytales end with “and they lived happily ever after” (usually as the characters get married). Once shows that even these “happily ever after” relationships have their ups and downs. For example, RumBelle fight and sometimes Rumple screws up big time, but they still love each other deeply. I absolutely agree.
I second that!

ParticipantThere have been times on the show when, given the choice between her husband or her child, Snow has declared her choice, easily, to be her husband. Now I’m not married nor do I have children so I don’t know if this considered normal (please chime in on this if you’re knowledgeable). Is this sort of all consuming love healthy? Or natural? Or even possible
I’m just going to throw in my two cents on the subject of Snowing. Sometimes their devotion to each other, to the exclusion of everyone else is beyond annoying. Their true love fairy tale, on paper at least, sounds like a beautiful thing, but in the real world things work differently. I have been with my husband for almost 20 years now, married for 13 of them with two beautiful kids. He is my first love and the love of my life and I can’t imagine living without him. HOWEVER, if it came down to a choice between my husband or my kids, I would chose my kids, no hesitation. And 100% guaranteed, hubby would make the same choice. In my opinion, the love you have for your significant other does not trump the love or the responsibility you should have to your children. I’m sure others may feel differently about it. Snowing abandoned Emma once for “the greater good” and would have done so again back in NL if Charming was forced to remain there. I rolled my eyes at that. Why bother having kids if you’re just going to abandon them when things get tough? While I agree that their relationship borders on unhealthy sometimes, and don’t get me wrong, I also enjoy seeing a couple who are truly devoted to each other. Maybe for the sake of keeping thing real, it wouldn’t hurt to see them in the midst of a stupid argument every once an a while (like naming their baby Leopold)

Participantahem, off topic but this joke comes from my 12 yr old daughter who asked me to share:
“What do you call a basket with a picture of Neal on it? A Baesket. ”
Sorry.
(not really sorry)

ParticipantSnap! I’m about to do that same thing. One thing I noticed about S3 there were a lot of shots of Hook looking at Emma (and quite a few reciprical ones too) Most obv in Going Home when Hook has absolutely nothing to do with the conversation, but the camera pans to his reaction to the news Emma is going to stay behind while everyone else will be forced back to the EF. It was pretty obv at the point which romance the writers were going to pursue.
I decided a few weeks ago to start reading the SF thread from the beginning (okay, I was bored) because I had mostly avoided reading it for S3 and I really wanted to understand where this anger over Neal’s demise was coming from. One thing that struck me during the 3A period was how different the perception was on the CSF interactions. Every time we saw Emma in emotional turmoil or Emma/Neal scenes we also saw Hook’s reactions because we knew he loved her and was concerned for her. Why would Hook’s reactions be shown during emotional scenes unless it was an investment in the future Hook and Emma relationship? SFers interpretation of those scenes (ie, outside the echo caves, and in the diner before the “long haul” discussion just to name two) as showing Hook 1. either seeking to find a way to manipulate Emma or to break up Neal/Emma’s twue wuv relationship by interjecting himself in the scene and/or 2. his reactions to the scenes while not being part of them show him as being an outsider and therefore not a real contender for Emma’s affections. Goes to show how affective the shipping goggles are. When you’re looking for something that your heart desires to happen, even what is clearly shown on screen can be manipulated to suit your way of thinking.
Great meta @surayya, thank you for posting it! Even in S2 the Hook and Emma subtle reactions to each other were there. Wasn’t all just my imagination after all 🙂
@surayya and @Jenna_B hope you both feel better soon. Nothing sucks more than a summer cold. Exactly how cold is it by you right now @surayya?callmeLola
ParticipantI hope you’re not serious about this. Again, as annoying as those people who still cling to Neal coming back, I don’t think it’s worth making a petition over the naming of a new site. I like it here. Before this place, I didn’t really have a place to go and post my theories and chat with other Oncers.
I was kidding!

ParticipantI know we’ve mentioned it before but any less negative sites that still include various ‘ships and viewpoints anyone visits and recommends? Because I’m really foreseeing me only coming to this thread here once S4 begins…how far we have….come.
I like this site but I’ll just stick to this thread from now on. @obisgirl mentioned fanforum which is actually good because even the shippers (and you know who they are) can generally have a rational discuss about spoilers/theories without the convo deteriorating. One of the ladies on the CS podcast recommended televisionwithoutpity as a good site. Haven’t checked it out though.
FYI, I’m going to be away during the first two weeks of the premiere. So, I’m going to miss at least the first two episodes of the season. I’l be in Canada (or here, pending if I get a job or not). I’ll be in Ontario.
You don’t have to miss a thing. I believe you mentioned that you’re coming to Toronto . OUAT is on channel 8 (CTV) at 8pm. Are you coming here for a family function or just visiting?
@surayya those stupid Hook is dying rumours start around this time every year just to whip the fandom into a frenzy. Does anyone (CS and SF shippers included) really believe A and E are just going to let Colin go? I had to laugh at your suggestion to renaming this site “oncehatecast.com” Shall we start a petition? You’re certainly not far off the mark there 🙂August 27, 2014 at 9:54 am in reply to: Kristen Bauer Van Straten Returning For S4 (Second Half) #281026callmeLola
ParticipantMy current head canon is that Will will have something to do with her resurrection if she is still being kept under the SB library by magic. We have spoilers of him trying to break into the library maybe to search for the thing that will send him back to WL and Ana. If the new curse brought everyone and everything back then it stands to reason that whatever was left of Mal and her looking glass might me down there.
I’m not going to hold A and E to what they said in their S2 podcast. As far as I’m concerned, no body, no real death. I doubt much of the audience listened to it anyway and were probably left wondering what became of Zombie!Mal.
If we just see Kristen in flashbacks I’m okay with that too. Love her!
