ModeratorBut what about all of the amazing memories? Like Hook terrorising the fairies by sucking them into the sorcerers hat?
Merlin’s death!
Neal and Robin’s wakes!
Where Emma had Violet break Henry’s heart! Where Belle had her pregnancy sped up!

ModeratorYou forgot one, and it’s arguably the one A and E would use to show that they can bring in new characters to help transition a show and sell a show (for better or for ill)…
Hook.
Channing Dungey, the current ABC President, even mentioned in an interview back in 2013 that she thought the introduction of Hook in Season 2 helped the show:
Some series will bring in new characters, or even more dramatically, hire new showrunners, in a bid to avoid the sophomore slump. Dungey says Once Upon a Time benefitted after Captain Hook was added as a character in Season 2.
“You are hoping the promise of the show you saw in Season 1 will really blossom in Season 2,” she says. “It’s trial and error. Sometimes it takes several weeks for a character to grow into who they’re going to become. You can’t get too caught up in those immediate actions.”Source: http://www.tvguide.com/news/revolution-mindy-project-nashville-sophomore-slump-1072364/

ModeratorRe: Rumbelle
–That makes me think that the Black Fairy takes Rumple somewhere and we only see him briefly when the show checks in on that situation.
Or, Rumple appears during the flashbacks.

ModeratorFound this interesting piece of information, courtesy of RJK from SpottedRatings:
Found this ranker among the major networks (ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox) and thought it might be interesting, especially when it comes to perhaps helping with mock schedules… The percentage of adults 18-49 viewing that is also done in the presence of a child (2-17).
TOP 10 COMEDIES
The Middle (ABC) ………………… 16.8%
The Goldbergs (ABC) …………… 16.7%
Speechless (ABC) ……………….. 15.6%
Fresh Off the Boat (ABC) ………. 15.5%
American Housewife (ABC) …… 15.4%
The Simpsons (Fox) ……………… 14.8%
Imaginary Mary (ABC) …………… 13.7%
Real O’Neals (ABC) ………………. 13.2%
Last Man Standing (ABC) ………. 12.8%
Black-ish (ABC) ……………………. 12.7%(MODERN FAMILY is next at 12.4%… this used to be a lot higher, but I think the audience has aged and they haven’t added new child viewers along the way.)
TOP 10 DRAMAS
Once Upon a Time (ABC) ……… 15.8%
MacGyver (CBS) ………………….. 12.3%
Chicago Fire (NBC) ………………. 11.1%
Lethal Weapon (Fox) …………….. 10.9%
Gotham (Fox) ………………………. 10.8%
Star (Fox) ……………………………. 10.6%
Prison Break (Fox) ……………….. 10.6%
Ransom (CBS) …………………….. 10.6%
Time After Time (ABC) ………….. 10.5%
Empire (FOX) ………………………. 10.5%(through April 23; minimum three episodes)
This could be why ABC could be considering a renewal, and why they’ve continued to keep OUAT at 8pm, despite lower 18-49 ratings. The 18-49 ratings alone might not necessarily be all that matters to them, if they’re targeting a family audience for this show.

ModeratorChecking in with other ABC shows again and Quantico got a .5 on Monday. Youch.
2nd week in a row that Quantico got a 0.5. I really think it’s getting cancelled. Curious to see if SHIELD can hold onto last week’s 0.8. All of ABC’s Tuesday comedies are off tonight except for Imaginary Mary. Chicago Fire is also back on NBC tonight, so that could factor in.

ModeratorI’m also frustrated that they teased big revelations in terms of Savior mythology, and I don’t know about anyone else, but it feels like they really haven’t delivered on that as of yet.
They haven’t at all. If anything they’ve just confused it.
The Dark One mythology from last Season was honestly more fleshed out by comparison, and even then I wanted more of it.

ModeratorThis is the problem with the OUAT writers in a nutshell. They mull, they plant, and then they get distracted by shiny shiny PLOT PLOT.
(this article angered me more than it needed to)
Especially when they say the reasoning came down to “There’s so much we want to explore with our core characters”, even though they keep using a reset button on them. Do we need Rumple to continue flip flopping between good and evil? Do we need Emma to keep putting her walls up? Do we need Regina and Zelena to continue their sibling bickering? Do we need more of Hook having some random dark secret that suddenly comes to the surface? Do we need more flashbacks of Evil Queen trying to kill Snow? If they stopped needlessly recycling all of this, then maybe they’d actually have the time to cover those dropped storylines!
