ModeratorHmm. That does present a problem. Either Eddy spoke without thinking– wouldn’t be the first time– or it really is someone else. But I just have no clue because I think jafar makes the most sense
I would agree that Jafar would make sense if the lamp matched the bottle we saw him trapped in. I do still think it would make sense to get Sidney involved too, since he is from Agrabah. Who’s to say we couldn’t get both Jafar and Sidney this Season?
If it is Jafar, then the only loophole I could see is Jafar glamoured his bottle to look like the other genie’s lamp. Adam and Eddy may have realized that Wonderland fans would have recognized Jafar’s bottle, and wanted to throw us off. That wouldn’t explain the in-show explanation, though.

ModeratorSo what Aladdin said about his old genie friend is confirmed to be a nod to the late Robin Williams, according to writer Leah Fong.

ModeratorI also thought that was what Aladdin said, hence why I’m convinced it is Jafar. It’s a major continuity issue but… Anastasia. There’s a loophole for that but it’s a rather eye roll worthy one. I wouldn’t put it past them at all to change Jafar’s bottle for a more traditional lamp.
Well one thing that makes me think it’s not Jafar is that:
In a recent interview, Eddy specifically refers to how Jafar was trapped in “a bottle”. He didn’t say lamp. So maybe they actually did go back and watch the end of Wonderland, and aren’t going to randomly change Jafar’s bottle to a lamp.
Does the Jafar scene with Aladdin predate Once Upon a Time in Wonderland?
KITSIS: It way pre-dates it, because Jafar ends up in a bottle in Wonderland.
HOROWITZ: Pre-dates and remains canon.

ModeratorOkay, so I went back and re-watched the scene. Here’s a video clip:
I decided to transcribe what Aladdin and Jasmine said:
Aladdin: “But stealing this definitely was.”
Jasmine: “What is this?”
Aladdin: “Ah, just a little something extra I snagged from Gold’s shop. Thought it might help a girl I know.”
Jasmine: “Well, who’s inside? Is it? Is he?”
Aladdin: “Um, no. Afraid not. My old pal has moved on.”
Jasmine: “The Genie…is gone.”
Aladdin: “It’s okay. He’s free now. But maybe whoever’s inside here – – maybe they can help us find Agrabah.”
So this changes things based on what I initially thought:
1) Aladdin was referring to two separate genies: His friend who was freed and another genie that belongs/belonged to this lamp.
2) I’m still not giving up on my Sidney theory. While Aladdin believes that there’s still a genie in this lamp, he could be mistaken. Perhaps he’ll find out that this lamp is empty too, and will try to track down who that genie was.
3) If it is Jafar in the lamp, then that’s a major continuity error and one that they would struggle trying to defend. Jafar was trapped in a black bottle, not a gold lamp.
4) Like I mentioned before, the music playing in this scene (about :38 seconds in) matches the Genie’s theme from “Fruit of the Poisonous Tree”, another possible hint for Sidney:For comparison’s sake, here all of the genie lamps/bottles that have appeared thus far:
Sidney’s lamp (the three jewels change from green to red after wishes have been granted):

The lamp in Rumple’s shop (most likely Sidney’s) from Season 1:

Cyrus and his brothers lamps/bottles (one looks similar to Sidney’s lamp, but with a different top):

Jafar’s bottle:

The lamp in this episode (matches Sidney’s lamp exactly):

ModeratorIf Lily was Dragons daughter that might explain why he was in this world in the first place. Aye, is dragon dead? Did we see him after the mirror explodes? I saw Henry grab his heart but I don’t recall him showing up again.
I think the Dragon is still alive. Just that he was left behind in the mirror world, for whatever reason.
MatthewPaul
ModeratorOh, it’s Lily. No doubt about it in my book. I don’t think it’s what the writers originally planned (if they actually had anything planned at all) and I’m not sure it makes a lick of sense from many standpoints–race, the timeline–but yeah, it’s Lily.
When it comes to race, I’m guessing they’ll easily shrug it off as “it’s a dragon thing”.
MatthewPaul
ModeratorIt’s Jafar. I’ll place cookies on it.
I don’t think so. For starters, Aladdin said that the genie from this lamp was freed. On top of that, this lamp matches Sidney’s lamp, and Jafar was trapped in a black bottle.
MatthewPaul
ModeratorI am convinced that it’s Sidney’s lamp. Pretty sure it matches with the lamp we saw in “Fruit of the Poisonous Tree”, and they even played the same music from that episode. Sidney himself was even mentioned in this episode, when Emma and Regina were in the mirror world.
MatthewPaul
ModeratorI’m pretty sure he’s Lily’s father. He’s a dragon who said he lost his daughter, and we know that Lily was conceived while Maleficent was in dragon form.

ModeratorThe NFL game went over by about 20 minutes, so part of 60 Minutes will definitely cut into OUAT’s timeslot.
