ModeratorI will say this didn’t turn out to be quite what I feared. They technically met, but not face to face. Nor was there any amnesia involved. I thought it was done fairly well, though I think I would have preferred them not interacting yet at all. I liked how they avoided them crossing paths for most of the flashback in a creative way, and wanted to see that continue. Either way, it didn’t end up tainting their first full meeting in “Snow Falls”/”Snow Drifts” for me.

ModeratorI am like 99% sure that the creature at the end of the promo is the Dragon’s “real” form. So we’re finally going to get some answers about his identity? About time.

ModeratorThe meaning behind the name Gideon:
Gideon is a Hebrew name from the Bible and means ‘he who cuts down’. The Hebrew “Gid’on” is also said to mean ‘mighty warrior, destroyer’. Like most Biblical characters, Gideon’s name is apropos for his particular story in the Bible (Judges 6-8). Gideon is one of the Major Judges (like Deborah and Samson) in the Book of Judges – he lived during a period of Israeli history when the people were decentralized and neglecting their God. As punishment, God brings about an onslaught of foreign oppression and so the Israelites repent and beg to be saved. Enter the Judges. This was pre-monarchy, and the judges were more representative of a president rather than a king. It was the job of the judge to lead and command the military and government in times of crisis. Gideon is the Judge selected to deliver the Israelis from the oppressive power of the Midianites and at first, Gideon resists this appointment fearing himself too weak and wimpy. But with all of God’s signs, assurances, instructions and help, Gideon does as he is told. The first order of business has to do with Gideon destroying (or ‘cutting down’) an alter to Baal, a pagan storm god, which greatly upsets the residents of his hometown. Next, Gideon assembles 300 men who surround the enemy camp. All the men do is reveal their fire-torches and blow their trumpets on queue and the Midianites flee in fear. Gideon’s men never even have to show their swords. Quite the mighty victory, indeed. Gideon has been a name used among Jewish people, but the Puritans also adopted Gideon at the time of the 16th century Protestant Reformation.

Sounds like an appropriate name for someone who is apparently destined to “cut down” the Savior.

ModeratorApparently the rumored name going around is Gideon, but I have yet to track down the original source of the name. That’s certainly an interesting and unexpected name, if true.

ModeratorSo apparently Morfetus gets a proper name by 611, and he’s not named after a dead character.

ModeratorThey do Live +3 and Live +3 still but because they matter so significantly less than Live/Live+ Next Day, they are hard to find. I suspect ABC keeps track of that more closely than Nielsen.
C3 ratings (they are +3 ratings based on commercial views) are what are typically looked at by advertisers, while apparently C7 ratings are being looked at more and more. These are very rarely released to the public. However, these aren’t radically far off from the available Live/Same Day ratings, because the majority of DVR viewers opt to skip the commercials. Therefore, the Live/Same Day ratings are still a good method of seeing where shows stand:

Last ep I recall her filming for was 610. They’re on 611 now, so I guess she means she won’t be in 611 and 612. It does at least signal that the Aladdin and Jasmine stuff should indeed be continuing into the 2nd half of the Season.
