ModeratorI figured he had to come back (would have been nice if TVLine hadn’t put him in the “death” category of their May Sweeps, putting him in “maybe dead” instead) because the EQ is left holding his heart, not crushing it.
I recall they made the same mistake listing the Apprentice as a death in their May 2015 Sweeps, too. The Apprentice did eventually die, but it wasn’t until the Season 5 premiere months later.

ModeratorI know the mechanic and for a lot of things I am willing to do it (like, being able to put a baby into a tree and have it transport realms) because it’s part of the mythology of the story (magic exists and this tree and this child are important). But stuff that would add to their world and clarify their world I shouldn’t have to suspend for. I mean, the ideas @sciencevsmagic proposed are quite interesting and would add a certain fleshed out feeling to the ONCEiverse. It would spark good thought provoking conversations.
And, y’know, at what point is “suspension of disbelief” really code/a euphemism for “stop critically analyzing and engaging with the text, sheeple”
Not saying I agree with it, and I’m all for getting legit deep world building. Suspension of disbelief shouldn’t be used as an excuse for sloppy writing. I just suspect that’s Adam and Eddy’s current mindset. I’d love to be proven wrong by them.

ModeratorI really like this idea in particular, but I’m not so sure A and E have that much understanding of philosophy or big heady ideas in general. I suspect the questions we have about the nature of reality, fiction, ect will never be answered outside of “magic!”
I think Adam and Eddy are honestly heavily relying on the willing suspension of disbelief, which is a plot mechanic which means “a willingness to suspend one’s critical faculties and believe the unbelievable; sacrifice of realism and logic for the sake of enjoyment.” It’s been around for a long time: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suspension_of_disbelief

ModeratorI still don’t think the Evil Queen crushed his heart. All we saw was her rip it out, and hold it in her hand. It would make sense if she wanted to control him instead. Maybe she needs his help getting into Storybrooke, or has something else in mind?

ModeratorWe know four things, based on the last update TVLine gave:
Question: Any hint on the recent Blind Item you told us about? —Eric
Ausiello: It’s not a show on CBS, which leaves ABC, Fox, NBC and The CW. And the series in question is back on the air in the next month.Source: http://tvline.com/2016/08/31/nashville-connie-britton-season-5-rayna-dies-spoilers/
1) It’s not a CBS show.
2) It’s a Season premiere that airs this month, which rules out any October premieres.
3) It’s a returning series, which rules out any new shows.
4) The original article said that it was “shot last month” under secrecy, which should rule out any of the animated shows on FOX.Here are the shows left that fit this category:
Thursday, 9/22
– Grey’s Anatomy
– How to Get Away with Murder
– Rosewood
– Superstore
– Chicago Med
– The BlacklistFriday, 9/23
– Last Man Standing
– Dr. KenSunday, 9/25
– Once Upon a Time
– Secrets and Lies
– Quantico
– The Last Man on EarthNow I doubt it’s any of the comedies, but since the article never specified whether it was a drama show or not, I still had to include them. I think the most likely candidates aside from OUAT are Grey’s and HTGAWM, so tonight should prove interesting. If the Blind Item still isn’t revealed tonight, then that of course makes OUAT more suspect-able.

ModeratorThe press people usually give more specific teases from the screeners. However, the ones who got to attend the 601 screening have been relatively quiet thus far, and have only said very vague things. Nothing about specific scenes or even simple dialogue teases. I find that a bit odd, to say the least. It’s as if ABC is forcing them to be more tight-lipped than usual, which Tyler suggested. It’s easier for them to control a small group of people who physically attended a screening than it is to control every person online that has a login for their press site.
Guys, what if Shatner is the blimp pilot (erm, captain)
We know that TV line is predicting that the guest and the show will be trending before the opening credits. We just saw that (most likely) the second scene–after Aladdin–is the arrival of the blimp. What if the very next scene is the captain of the blimp crashing and it’s Shatner.
That’s an idea! My initial theory was, since we’re apparently going to learn more about David’s father, that perhaps Shatner is playing him? Either way, making Shatner play a captain of a flying vessel (*coughStarTrekcough*) would be so meta.
I like that theory!!!
(Although the blind item says closing credits, not opening credits – but this theory is still a big possibility!)
Maybe when they track down the crashed blimp, the captain and everybody who was on board will be missing. The captain could remain unrevealed til near the end of the episode.

ModeratorI still find this problematic–the story of Jekyll and Hyde *is* a complete story in our world. The novella has a very clear ending, a very clear message and thesis. I know the writers don’t really think in these terms but I find it problematic.
As we’ve talked about before, this doesn’t just apply to Jekyll and Hyde, though. Most of the stories we’ve seen adapted on OUAT have taken place years after the stories in our world were already written. The ending to Aurora and Rapunzel’s stories even occurred post-Curse.
Yes but I’m still bothered by *all* this and would really like an explanation about how Snow White could be a centuries old tale when OUAT’s Snow White is only about (including Curse) 60 some years old, with the well known elements of her story (the apple, the huntsman) occurring 40+ years ago. Since time in concurrent, as A and E keep telling us, then how.
Either they do have some explanation planned towards the end of the series, or it comes down to “your questions are pointless”. Logically, I think the stories were written in our world first, but then these stories somehow spawned the creation of these realms of stories, where the characters came to life with freedom of their own. The main holes in this theory are Frozen and Brave, since those movies were made recently. You could somewhat excuse Frozen, due to the original Snow Queen story. Not so much with Brave, though.
