ModeratorSo Hades has nothing to do with it at all? That would be interesting (and a bit of a subversion of how most of these deals tend to go). And it does give more to Rumple’s serious overprotectiveness toward Bae both before and after he became the D.O.
You’re on to something. Now stop giving them ideas.
Not sure. This would also be a way to explain why Rumple never tried seeking ways to bring Neal back after he died, if he already knew that it was undo-able. Though Rumple did previously insist that “dead is dead” in general on a few occasions, so something would still be off about it.

ModeratorSooo if it’s life or death, I’m guessing that Bae was really sick and Rumple made a deal with the devil to save his son? But for what price? It’s not like he agreed to be the Dark One at some point down the road, right? Doesn’t that rob “A Desperate Soul” of all its weight? Funny how this has never come up once–does that mean that Nealfire never knew? Golly, that sounds like unfinished business to me!
(if Rumple goes this entire episode without wondering about his son in present day, Imma need a table) (especially with Milah there)
I think it is Fendrake the Healer that Rumple will make a deal with in the flashback. Here’s my theory: Rumple made a deal with Frendrake to save Bae’s life, but at a steep price. The cost is that if Bae dies later on down the line, his death could never be undone. Hence why Neal apparently has no unfinished business and is in Olympus, even though he should have unfinished business with his son and Emma. That would be the writers’ ultimate way of saying that he’ll never be resurrected.

ModeratorHere’s our new Young Baelfire, Dean Petriw.

MatthewPaul
ModeratorUnderstandable given that Dylan is now waaaay told old. But Dylan
This flashback takes place before Milah left with Hook, and even back in “The Crocodile”, a different kid other than Dylan played Young Baelfire (Sebastian Wilkinson). “The Crocodile” was filmed 3-4 years ago, so Sebastian was probably too old to return as well.

Moderator*mumbles something about bad mythology and how a river of fire should not be green* but yeah you’re probably right since the show takes a majority of its cues from Disney and not classic mythology.
I thought the river of fire is Phlegethon, not Styx?
MatthewPaul
ModeratorSo as I expected, Violet is indeed returning. With the Henry/Violet stuff in this episode, I guess this is why it is called “Only You.”
MatthewPaul
ModeratorI think the river Hades attempts to dunk Hook into is the River Styx, because it is green and has souls swimming in it like in the Disney movie.

ModeratorI have to wonder if we’ll get a name for “the worst place” at some point, too. Would they call it “Tartarus” like in the Greek myths, or will they straight up call it “Hell”?
MatthewPaul
ModeratorI really liked Hercules. Jonathan Whitesell did great with the role, and I enjoyed the friendship between him and Snow. I think we can all safely agree that Megara was a huge disappointment. As much as many of us criticize when OUAT sticks too closely to the Disney versions, this is a case where they would have been better off doing so. The Disney Meg wasn’t a damsel nor a wuss. She was independent, tough and sassy. I was hoping that we’d get a twist where Meg was secretly working for Hades, and the whole cowering was an act. Alas that didn’t happen.

ModeratorWell he did once has aspirations of writing his father back to life. *sigh*
But I’m guessing he can “write” everyone home since we keep hearing that the only way to leave Hellbrooke is to the better place or the worse place.
I’m guessing either:
1) Cruella is either lying, or not properly informed about the quill’s power.
or
2) The quill can only restore those from the Underworld and those with unfinished business, not souls from “the better place” or “the worse place.” Would the souls in “the better place” even want to come back to life, if they are happy there with no unfinished business? Even Neal said that he was happy there, which very much felt like the writers way of saying that he won’t ever return to the land of the living. Yeah, I know realistically Neal would want to come back for Emma and Henry, but the writers still said that he was in “a better place” because he didn’t have unfinished business, despite the the lack of logic behind this idea. -
