ModeratorYeah they should have just let that story die out because anything they are doing to appease will probably not work out or translate.
@hjbau I do wonder if Alice is Emma/Hook child or Rumbelle’s child that is currently my theory. However, it would be cool if she was no one’s kid.
They showed an extended version of the sneak peek at NYCC, which indicates that the Henry, Emma and Hook stuff in the new Enchanted Forest takes place right after last episode’s flashbacks. So unless Alice is a time traveler, she can’t be Emma and Hook’s daughter, since it seems like they only just find out that Emma is pregnant here.

ModeratorI like this version of the red coat but geez could that wig JMo is wearing look any worse??? It’s almost as bad as her hair in S6B.
They should have just written a reason for Emma getting a haircut, so that they wouldn’t even need to give her a wig. I mean, they had no problem doing it with Rumple last Season. They even allowed David Anders to keep his iZombie hair, when he returned as Whale in Seasons 5 and 6.

ModeratorThat makes sense. Do we know what other show is airing on ABC the night AoS has their 2 hour premiere?
AoS would be airing at both 8 and 9pm on December 1st. Fridays at 10pm is always 20/20.

ModeratorI think if we do get a 2 hour episode, it will be on November 17th, the week before Black Friday. I say this because Inhumans is only 8 episodes, and should be airing its finale on November 10th. Since AoS won’t premiere until December 1st, that would leave a vacant 9pm hour for November 17th. It would be 707 and 708. Then I guess 709 would air on December 8th, and 710 on December 15th.

ModeratorI don’t think the number of episodes affects the quality of the writing that much. Better writers would know how to use their extra episodes, even if there are filler episodes, they could be useful for characters development.
I mean, look at OUAT, yeah technically they have 22-23 episodes per season, but not really since they split it in half so there are 11-12 episodes per season and I don’t think this split has improved the quality of the writing, it even made it worse.
My argument here is that the split-Seasons didn’t change the hectic production schedule. It’s not like they were able to spend more time working on each split-Season, or had a long break in between writing them. For example, once they were done writing the Neverland arc, they immediately went on to work on the Wicked Witch arc with no room to breathe. Even though we received 3 month hiatuses from Mid-December to March, the production team didn’t.

ModeratorSmart. Honestly, the 18-episode seasons are a good move on the part of the writers/studios/networks. It’s not exactly revolutionary that holding an audience captive for a full 22 is difficult (OUAT has its share of filler episodes). Kinda hoping we see more of this from networks.
Obviously a big reason networks insisted on stretching their successful shows to 22 episodes for the longest time were to build up episodes for syndication. However, the TV landscape is vastly changing, including the syndication market. Not as many shows are getting syndication deals on cable these days, and instead are getting sold to streaming services such as Netflix. I agree that shorter episode orders help retain a show’s quality, as stretching to 22 episodes can make it a slog. Plus, this gives them more production time to focus on each individual episode. Another positive is that these shorter run Seasons get to avoid airing in deep Spring, where ratings are known to be particularly brutal. Daylight Savings Time is the biggest factor for this, as it results in people spending more time outside later in the day.

ModeratorThe Good Doctor also snagged a full season order
I liked tGD (big fan of Freddie Highmore and Richard Schiff) but I do admit that it’s a “DVR and watch when I can show”
It managed to remain even with the 2.2 from last week, so it’s already doing better than Designated Survivor did last year. Especially since it built 0.8 from Dancing with the Stars, which never happens with any other 10pm show they’ve aired there. I don’t think even Castle managed to do so. I liked the show too, but I wonder how long it can hold its viewers for. Also, note that the backorder is only up to 18, so it’s getting the Empire/TIU treatment, instead of the typical 22.

ModeratorI think it is pretty unlikely that Tremaine set the curse. I think it is going to be someone else. Like Alice or Cinderella or even Henry or Rumpel.
Agreed. I’m guessing they want us to initially suspect that it was Tremaine, but it’ll eventually turn out that it was somebody else.

ModeratorNew drama Kevin (Probably) Saves the World debuted to a 1.0. Far below The Good Doctor’s, but not in any immediate danger yet.
