ModeratorCan I just add something as well…what’s on your Wish List for Season 4B.
1) I agree with you about the Author, which is a sure thing for Season 4B.
2) I agree with RG that I want an answer as to why Will and Anastasia aren’t together, and it better not be that she died or even worse turned evil again.
3) With Maleficent, I finally want to see the backstory with Aurora and her mother. I just want Maleficent and Aurora to finally share screen time, period.
4) With Ursula on the show, I want more Ariel.[adrotate group="5"]MatthewPaul
ModeratorI do agree with that. He does need to learn that. But my issue (still) is that he should have learned this when his son died. His impetus for so long was the heady mix of power and his child. But then he lost the one thing that really mattered: his son. But you’ll notice that when he was talking to Regina in the car, the death of Neal doesn’t come up nor does Belle use the fact that Neal would be appalled at what Rumple is doing (especially re: Emma and hat suckage) which she absolutely should have. Now, I know that on the one hand the writers don’t want us to really remember Neal so they don’t let the characters dwell on the fact that Neal’s death SHOULD be like the #1 reason for Super Duper Evil! Rumple, but it is a wee bit distracting.
(and yes, I’m biased toward Neal. We all know that but I do make sense)
I feel Rumple blames the curse of the dagger for Neal’s death. If it weren’t for the dagger’s curse, Zelena wouldn’t have been able to trick Neal into resurrecting Rumple to control Rumple with the dagger in the first place. He doesn’t want his powers used against him and the people that he cares about ever again.

ModeratorI totally agree. But my one tiny (ok, somewhat tiny) issue is that Rumple DID once choose someone over power. He threw the dagger to Zelena in order to “absorb” (twitch) Nealfire. The writers keep acting like this didn’t happen. This whole idea of “Rumple has never chosen someone else over power” robs Quite Minds of the only good (using that term loosely) moment.
Rumple’s issue is that when he finds an opportunity where “he can have it all”, he will take it. We saw him give up the gauntlet to the Queens of Darkness to spare Belle’s life, but we saw him return to take the gauntlet back behind Belle’s back. He has to learn that he can’t have it all.

ModeratorI would like to add another discussion point, in regards to Season 4A in review. What would you say was the biggest missed opportunity? For me, I would say I wish they had taken plot points mentioned from previous Seasons that could have easily tied in to the Snow Queen or Elsa. That would have been organic. We were told that Snow White was born during the harshest winter. Not only would the show have been able to cover such a pivotal moment for a core character, but Ingrid could have been responsible for that winter. We were also told on Once Upon A Time in Wonderland that Will Scarlet’s sister, Penelope, died in a frozen lake. Exploring that story would have given Will more to do in this story arc. Granted, timeline wise I’m not sure when or how Ingrid would have fit into Will’s story, and Elsa probably would have been too young. Nor would I think the Mouse House would allow Elsa to be responsible for somebody’s death, accidental or not.

ModeratorHas Rumple fallen completely to the dark side, or will his love for Belle keep him from going full evil?
KITSIS: It’s very interesting, because Rumple warned us in season 1 that he was a difficult man to love. Every time we show that side of him, people like to gloss over the fact that he was one of the world’s biggest villains. But truly, he started this season wanting to give the knife back to Belle and wanting to be noble and be a great husband. But we also have to remember last year he did the right thing and sacrificed his life. The end result was his son died and he became a slave to the Wicked Witch, because as long as they have that knife that can control him, he will never truly be free. When he was on his honeymoon and he saw the hat and a chance to free himself, he wasn’t doing it for the power—he was doing it so he wouldn’t have to have the fear every day. Rumple didn’t come to this world with Bae because he was frightened to be in a land without magic. We realize he doesn’t want to be anyone’s prisoner. His real mistake was not being honest with [Belle] and telling her what he was doing. He didn’t do it for villainous reasons, he did it so he wouldn’t have to be a prisoner again and it just got out of control. This has been my headcanon explanation for Rumple’s behavior all Season, and I’m glad they finally confirmed it.

ModeratorBased on the interview, its definitely looking more likely that the Sorcerer’s identity is Merlin. Merlin is the most famous sorcerer in literature, so it would be rather fitting. Though, I was wondering if maybe the Sorcerer isn’t the actual author, but instead its really the Apprentice. That would be quite a predicament if the very Author Rumple is now looking for is trapped in the hat. There have been some theories that the Apprentice has really been the Sorcerer this entire time, and the Apprentice is just a cover up to shield his identity.

ModeratorI’m going out on a limb and saying it’s actually Belle who is unforgiven.
It’s not in Rumple’s character to ask for forgiveness from anyone but Baelfire. But it entirely in Belle’s nature to ask forgiveness, even if in our eyes she’s done nothing wrong. Plus, I could see Rumple trying to keep his distance from Belle until his plan has played out.
I won’t be happy if it plays out this way, but i wouldn’t be surprised.
If it plays out
Interesting idea, but I still think it’s Rumple who hasn’t been forgiven. Belle won’t be so quick to forgive him after everything that happened, and she’s the one who put Rumple in the dog house. She has the high ground as of now, when it comes to their relationship. Plus, she has the dagger.

ModeratorAfter seeing the Winter finale, I now think this will be a Rumbelle centric. “Unforgiven” could refer to how Belle still hasn’t forgiven Rumple for his actions. Plus, there’s been hints about the episode being about Rumbelle from the filming pics and comments from paps. The next episode, “Enter the Dragon”, is obviously the Maleficent centric, so it wouldn’t make sense for this episode to be Maleficent centric too.

Moderator1) Favorite episode of 4A?: Shattered Sight. A lot of meaty character moments via the spell of Shattered Sight. It was fun to see the Evil Queen go at it, while the Charmings got to act nasty themselves.
2) Least favorite episode of 4A?: Breaking Glass. The Emma and Lilly flashback felt flat, and I could do without the Swan Queen baiting between Emma and Regina. Emma and Regina’s interaction during the episode just felt wonky.
3) Overall thoughts on the Frozen storyline?: I actually enjoyed the Frozen storyline. A&E explained that the reason they didn’t go about twisting the Frozen characters as much as other characters on the show is because 1) The characters are already modern. 2) Their goal wasn’t to re-tell the movie, but to expand upon where the movie left off and how it could fit into the show. Unpopular opinion around here, but when I first saw Frozen, I honestly always saw that their was potential for it on the show. As A&E have said, the movie shares some of the same themes as the show, such as their idea of True Love not always having to be used in the romantic sense. The characters were well cast too. As I said in another thread, my favorite aspect of the Frozen storyline by far was Elsa and Emma’s friendship. Elsa and Emma have a lot in common, and it was nice to see Emma bond with someone who wasn’t her relative or love interest. I could sympathize with the complaints that the Frozen characters got way too much screentime, especially when it came to flashbacks. 401 was Anna/Elsa/Kristoff centric, 402 was Anna/Charming centric, 403 was Elsa/Kristoff/Hans/Ingrid centric, 404 was Anna/Rumple centric, 405 was Emma centric, 406 was Belle/Anna/Elsa/Ingrid centric, 407 was Ingrid centric, 408 was Anna/Elsa/Kristoff/Ingrid centric, 409 was Anna/Kristoff/Hans centric, 410 was Emma/Ingrid centric, and 411 was Rumbelle centric. Only 402, 404, 405, 406, 410, and 411 were flashback centrics with one of our regulars. A good half of the Season, and most of those still shared screentime with at least one Frozen character.
4) Favorite moment or arc within 4A?: The whole Rumbelle fallout. It really was a powerful moment to see Belle standing up for herself and giving Rumple what he deserved.
5) Best Frozen Adapted Character?: Pabbie. The CGI for him was actually impressive for this show, and you can’t hate John Rhys-Davies.
6) Final Grade for 4A?: I would probably give it an 8/10. Season 1 is still the strongest, followed by Season 3A, Season 4A, Season 2A, Season 3B, and Season 2B. Yeah I’m splitting Season 2 in half to be more fair, since there are still some great episodes, but I rank the first half of Season 2 above it. Season 2 is hard to rank, because there’s good individual episodes sprinkled in each half, but the overall arc was fairly weak.

ModeratorNow that we’ve seen the Season 4A finale, I have a feeling that the reason Belle is working with Hook is because Hook now owes her for saving his life.
