ModeratorMatt Lanter has his own show on the CW this Season called Starcrossed, so I doubt he’d be available for Once. I think both him and Chace actually look older than Andrew, despite being younger than him.

He has a good look for Peter, but he’s 34 now, I’d hope for someone at least 10 years younger.
I know he’s that old in real life, but my point is he has a younger look to him that it might not matter so much on camera. He looks younger than the guy who played Felix, and that actor is like 25 after all. And we had Jennifer Morrison and MRJ play their characters 10 years younger than they were supposed to be in “Manhattan”, not to mention Lana Parilla playing an 18 year old or so version of Regina. I agree overall that an older actor who can play a younger character well would be better than casting someone younger, since this role requires major acting abilities. Not that a child actor couldn’t handle the role, but convincingly playing that type of character is asking a lot. Plus, as someone has probably said before, child labor laws in terms of limited filming time per day are a pain to deal with.

ModeratorI’m taking this with a grain of salt until it’s officially clarified. ABC’s comment about the Split Season decision never directly confirmed that Once will have 24 episodes for Season 3.

ModeratorIf they wanted to cast an older actor who appears childish enough to be Peter Pan, I was considering maybe Andrew Rannells (Elder Price in “The Book of Mormon” and Bryan Collins in “The New Normal”). I definitely think he has a Peter Pan look to him, and he has a rather high pitched voice that could fit the part. Also helps that since “The New Normal” got cancelled, Andrew should theoretically be free for work.
Here’s a video of his Tony Awards performance to get an idea of him in motion, and to listen to his voice:

ModeratorWhile it is possible that they’ll just double cast Jared to play Peter Pan, if they intend him to look identical to Henry, but I would rather they cast someone new.

ModeratorI think one of the reasons I don’t want Ariel in Neverland is so her story isn’t engulfed in the whole Peter Pan plot and she can stand out more on her own. Like RG said, it could potentially be too many toys out of the toybox if they were to do that. From what H&K said, it seems like they are debating that very thing: do we use the Mermaids in Neverland to introduce Ariel or do we introduce her in the Enchanted Forest?

YES! I want more of Manhattan. Anything from Manhattan! I really hope it’s one of the audio commentaries with RC, H and K.
You forgot that MRJ should be in that commentary, too!

ModeratorI am mixed with Season 2 overall. The universal agreement across the fanbase seems to be that Season 1 as a whole was superior, but Season 2 appears to be a love it or hate it Season. The biggest criticism that I’ve seen is that the Charmings didn’t get enough focus in both Storybrooke and the flashbacks, while Regina and Rumple have had too much attention given to them. To play devil’s advocate here, I never saw Once Upon a Time as simply “The Snow and Charming Hour.” I feel like Once Upon a Time is an ensemble show that focuses on ALL of the characters in the Enchanted Forest and the other realms. However, since Snow’s family is the center of the cast, several fans feel that any time spent on characters other than them are “pointless filler”, when it’s really not. Again, there are so many characters to delve into with the potential to be interesting themselves. Could Season 2 have spent a little more time on the Charmings? Absolutely, but I do feel that some fans are being a little too harsh. After all, the Charmings did get top focus all in the first Season, and we did get the majority of Snow and Charming’s story already.

I don’t understand the logic of people thinking that this new way would make the scheduling more complicated. Surely one, long, consistent block of eps on every week is easier to follow than 2 weeks on, 3 weeks off, 1 week on, 2 weeks off, etc? If the schedule is consistent for a full half of the season, it means people get into the routine of tuning in every week, and the story is easier to follow because it’s not constantly stopping and starting.
Yep, and if viewers are fine with the split season model for other shows, why can’t they adapt the same for Once? I believe the way they intend for Once Season 3 is for each split season to have its own story arc, so in a sense think of it as two mini Seasons.
