I know my theory is really silly but maybe it is Facilier.
It isn’t silly. I was thinking the same thing during the episode!
Perhaps that’s the true reason he’s after the dagger. He doesn’t really want to kill Rumple and take his place as the Dark One. He wants to fulfill his role as the Guardian, despite how shady he’s been.
