ModeratorABC expected today and tomorrow. Both CW pilots still in contention.

Goodness, I really hope they don’t drag OUAT’s fate until tomorrow.

ModeratorThe Goldbergs also just scored a 2 Season renewal.

ModeratorGotham has just been renewed for a 4th Season!

ModeratorABC sneakily confirmed that Black-ish was renewed via a voice over during its Season finale end credits. ABC similarly confirmed How to Get Away with Murder Season 2 in a similar manner a few years ago. This was one of the obvious renewals.
MatthewPaul
ModeratorA safe renewal and a safe cancellation up first, then.
LMS actually wasn’t a safe cancellation. It was considered a shock, since many predictions had it as certain to be renewed. It still did pretty well, ratings wise. However, it became too expensive for a show that ABC doesn’t own. Especially with Tim Allen’s salary. Plus, I guess they wanted more slots to launch new comedies, since Sundays are clearly out with Idol happening.

ModeratorABC has started their renewals and cancellations. They renewed Modern Family for 2 Seasons, which is the first time I’ve seen ABC give any show a multi-Season renewal since ever. They also cancelled Last Man Standing, which was reportedly getting too expensive for a show they don’t own. Both shows are produced by FOX, so I imagine the 2 decisions may have gone hand in hand.

ModeratorI assume if OUAT gets renewed it’s a short final season but with this news of cast leaving what is the point? This “reboot” only lasting 13 episodes is pointless.
If it is renewed, I think it’ll be for a few reasons:
1) Even if OUAT is fairly low rated these days, there still might be enough profitability in the franchise altogether to milk it for at least one more run of episodes. It would also most certainly be cheaper than the past few Seasons with the cuts being taken into account.
2) They need scheduling filler on Sundays in the Fall before Idol arrives in the Spring. It might make more sense to just throw in a veteran or 2 in the Fall, since any new shows airing there would be forced out after only a few months anyway. Any new shows would have to wait almost a year before airing a 2nd Season, which could hurt them. It would just seem silly to spend the time and money launching a night of all new shows, only to get rid of them for the other half of the Season. The article I linked to earlier mentioned that 10 Days in the Valley, a mini-series that ABC ordered straight to series, is being looked at for a potential Fall run. Since 10 Days is a mini-series, it wouldn’t matter to air it on Sundays in the Fall, if it wouldn’t get any additional episodes regardless. However, they’d still need to find 3rd show to air alongside OUAT/10 Days, which could be another veteran like AoS or even Quantico.MatthewPaul

ModeratorQuantico back down to a 0.5 this week. Whatever money it’s making internationally really REALLY has to be worth it, if they’re seriously considering renewing it. I still say it gets cancelled.

ModeratorUnless they turn the next season into a self-contained spinoff like Wonderland (which was awesome), I’m not sure how they can make Once work without Emma.
But I wasn’t sure how they could make it work with other decisions they’ve made, either.
What I really want Season 7 to be is that dropped vignette episode, but spread across a short Season. Actually deal with the stories that were left unresolved for characters like Will, Anastasia, and Lily. I doubt that’s a concept that would necessarily sell Season 7 to mainstream audiences, but it’s what I’d personally want. It’s what would justify Season 7 existing for me.
