GrimmsisterParticipant
And I guess….the overall Rumple/Regina situation put into simpler quote….Regina may have pulled the trigger, but Rumpelstilskin loaded the gun. So her turning out the way she did, he had major influence, and it was practically as easy as taking candy from a baby considering Henry Sr. was too much of a coward to talk sense into her. But then again…what’s happened is what’s happened….and even though it sent her through much turmoil and depression, without Rumpelstilskin, there would be no Storybrooke. And I can’t believe I’m saying this, but thank god he pushed her into casting the curse….Enchanted Forest was just….no comment.
Back to the Rumpelstilskin conversation topic…..The line of redemption for him…..where does it stand? Has he taken too many steps back, and how long do you think it’d be before he can get back on the side of good and Honest.
did I miss this before or you just added it? Well it seems like we are basically saying the same thing anyway just using the Words a bit differently maybe, you even used the same methapor only with a gun 😀
Here is a question for ya: if Regina’s choices are determined by outer influences, such as Rumple… Then this must also mean Rumple’s choices are determined by outer influences.. what are those then?
[adrotate group="5"]GrimmsisterParticipanthmm I tried to write a lenghty response to this fate vs free will discussion, but it became a big unreadable mess LOL.. and Im too tired right now to start over so I boiled it Down to this-
WR: I love Regina as much as any other Evil Regal, but what you are doing is reducing her to some object of Rumple’s desires and in a way, at least thats what it feels like to me, you are de-humanizing her. When you take away her blame you also take away her free choice- She becomes nothing but Rumple’s doll.
We dont need to take away the blame on her in order to feel compassion for her.
There is enough Things to blame Rumple for on his own, he doesnt need to be blamed for Reginas mistakes too. I agree though that he had a lot to do with why she made some of her mistakes, but they are still her mistakes. We can blame him for putting the knife(magic book) in her hands, but we cant blame him for her choice to ultimately use it.
(I might have used that knife methaphor on here before, sorry for that, but its a good one 😉 )
GrimmsisterParticipantI’d like for Rumple to at least have a somewhat happy ending. It would be unfair if Regina got a happy ending after some of the things she’s done but Rumple didn’t.
I dont think about it like that, as it being unfair.
If it is so that one of them having a happy ending, then the other automaticly should also have that. That really limits the story in a way I dont like. But if the story is best told with Rumple having a happy ending, then Im all for it.
But I must say I dont think the story is best told with his happy ending, like I suggested above.
GrimmsisterParticipantYou’ll be interested to know that Bobby Carlyle agrees with you. He thinks Rumple shouldn’t get his happy ending because of all the things he’s done and Rumple can never be truly happy after 300 of so much darkness.
Part of Rumple will always be called to the darkness and to the magic that made him feel like a “real man.” Just like part of Regina will always be the Evil Queen who used darkness to get what she wanted (and we can discuss Regina more in a week or so when we move on ) So asking if he’s too far gone…he might already be. But not in the way you’re suggesting, being just THE DARK ONE forevermore. But part of him will always belong to the Darkness.
Yea what Im suggesting is that he didnt get the “semi happy ending” of Building a new Family with Belle. But neither do I mean for him to be submerged in the Dark One curse for ever. But for the actual Man- Rumplestilzkin, to be to far gone, yes it would partly be because of his curse, but it would also be by his own choice or lack of ability to choose to come out of his dark circle of making wrong choices, because of his experiences through these many years… to me it just doesnt make sence that he would come out the other end of that as a person able to do good for himself and others. It doesnt really make sence for Regina either but yes thats for a nother discussion.
But I guess the message of hope might get a bit lost there, but they could still tell that story through the other characters.
Oh Carlyle agrees! that makes me feel oddly happy 🙂
GrimmsisterParticipantSomething I think I would like for the character Rumplestilzkin is, and I know thats not gonna ever be a popular wish, but for him to be the “To far gone” character out of the bunch, doesnt OUaT need one of those?
There should be such a thing as being to far gone Down the dark path shouldnt there? and what better character for that then the one WHO is THE DARK ONE. I used to think Regina wouldnt be able to turn fully to her good side, but on that I guess I was wrong.
And Cora or Pan dont qualify because I dont mean just that there should be a villain without a redemption, I have discussed that on other threads before. But what I mean is Rumple tries.. he tries to do good, thats why we keep hoping he will learn and find the good in him self, but what if that is no longer possible? Has he done too many evil deeds to come back to good old pleasant peasant Rumple? logically there must be a point of no return in that regard. plus now he doesnt have his son “the beacon/fire/flame” lighting up his way to walk in the right direction.
He would then be the tragic character, the fallen angel. The one who tried but didnt make it… Or maybe that kind og story would be too dark and grimm for a Family show, but I would like it 🙂 Hence, my name.
GrimmsisterParticipantSo another war of the twitter birds has raged on while I was blissfully sleeping in my Little corner of the World. Why all that hate ? I never get it.
Little blue birds of the twitter Woods, please try to remember to appriciate the creators and actors that make Worlds and characters, which we can feel so very passionate about, come to life. If it were not for these wonderfully querky talented creators, daring to put there own “fan”fiction into our tvscreens, those our screens would only be filled with dreadfull news readings and cooking shows… o_O *scary thought*
lets hope we dont scare them all off.
A Love day is always a good idea RG, count me in 🙂
GrimmsisterParticipantLol WR I loved the chapter you wrote… YAY GRAHAM ♥ !!!!!!!!! ♥♥
And Regina and Robin’s scene was so sweet.
but you made Adam Horrorwitch and Eddy Kisses into woman… was that intentional 😉
GrimmsisterParticipantOh I was so disapointed with Emilia Clarke as Dani on Game of Thrones, but that for a discussion elsewhere so I wont bother you with that, but only say NOOOO dont bring her to Once too 😉
The actress is fine Im sure, she just didnt look like how I pictured Dani.
For Elsa on Once I hope for someone not known from other shows, so a new face.
I thought just occured to me. If Merida ever comes to Once I could Picture her as a girlfriend for Henry !!!! AWWW thatd be zoooo zzweet =)
GrimmsisterParticipantNow that we had that Little Emma Swan discussion I thought we might take up another character discussion aswell.
So Whats going on with our favorite Little Imp, where is he at now:
Just a couple of questions to get the talking going-
Rumple’s last act of the third season was to kill the, in his mind, his sons murderer. Why did he do this? what did he take with him from that experience did he go backwards in his road to redemption? Should Belle forgive him for lying to her or give him the boot when she finds out?
What should be Rumple’s next step, now that he doesnt have the motivation of finding his son. What should he be looking for now?
He has the daggar in his own hands now, so he holds his own fate, so to speak. Is Rumple really the best person for his own good to hold the daggar? or should we hope for Belle to snatch it from him or something?
……………………………………………………………………..
I think Belle should really leave Rumple when she finds out he lyid. He needs a good kick in the butt from someone he loves to send him in the right direction. He still does Things mostly for himself and because he is afraid to let go of his control. The relationship of Rumple and Belle is not an ecual one as long as he keeps Things from her.
Thats all I have right now I will maybe come back with more thoughts later.
GrimmsisterParticipantBUHUU!! KFC Its so sad .’´´>O<
‘.
This was also what I loved so much about this show. I sometimes manage to forget how great a show I ‘believed’ it to be back then. Then I can manage to just enjoy it for what it is now…. But then comments like yours KFC comes along and reminds me..
