This just dawned on me. I wonder if it belonged to Daniel as a training aid OR a toy given to Regina when she was young? If so, this adds more support to the possibility they are related. Then it makes me wonder about the house, like the owner/previous owner/ small castle?

Don’t know for sure, but I hope he has a small commitment on another show called ‘Covert Affairs’. It’s on USA Network. He was the main character’s, Annie Walker, former love interest. His character would pop in for bits and pieces in a few episodes. The first season had flashbacks with the two of them at a beach. Then he mysteriously disappears one night leaving a cryptic note. She looks for him. Goes back to their other hangouts. Nothing. She gives up and returns back to the US but keeps the note and bracelet. Years later she becomes a CIA operative where eventually she finds out he is one, too.

I don’t think it was being in prison as much as the location of the prison. Wasn’t the prison in the old mines? Perhaps the fact it was a mine or just underground added some sort of protection from the curse.

I call that only those who possess true love in their lives (lovers, children) will be able to use the magic of true love. Regina will ironically be the only one left out.
I second (or third, fourth etc) this but with a twist. I think magic will go to those that have true love including Belle but NOT Mr. Gold. For some reason he won’t have magic return. Maybe it will start within him but then fizzle. I think it would be interesting to see Belle with the ability to use magic. Mr. Gold would have to “show”/teach her. Wouldn’t that be funny to watch. Mr G to Belle “Dearie, could you conjure up xyz with your magic?” Belle to Mr G ” Not today/I don’t think so…”
