Emma just believes, like that? There’s no questioning from her. She just has pure acceptance which I didn’t quite get. It was all just very weird for me.
Oh, she’s been believing before. She just didn’t want to accept it. But now there’s a situation that really doesn’t make sense (though why Dr. Whale didn’t want to do a tox screen is beyond me) and magic seems the only other option. But yeah, it was a bit rushed, but in sync with the rest of the episode. I guess we’ll see more of her actually trying to figure things out in season 2. ^^
[adrotate group="5"]miaParticipantFables is an awesome comic book! I can jsut recommend it, even if you don’t like comic books. I got two of my friends (also watching OUaT) to read them and they loved it. None of them usually likes comic books.
A nice book, with the second one coming out in September this year, is Reckless by Cornelia Funke. She developed it together with producer and screenplay writer Lionel Wigram (one of the producers of Harry Potter and Sherlock Holmes). The story is inspired by Grimm fairy tales:
Ever since Jacob Reckless was a child, he has been escaping to a hidden world through a portal in his father’s abandoned study. Over the years, he has made a name for himself as a finder of enchanted items and buried secrets. He’s also made many enemies and allies–most important, Fox, a beautiful shape-shifting vixen whom Jacob cares for more than he lets on.
But life in this other world is about to change. Tragedy strikes when Jacob’s younger brother, Will, follows him through the portal. Brutally attacked, Will is infected with a curse that is quickly transforming him into a Goyl โ a ruthless killing machine, with skin made of stone.
Jacob is prepared to fight to save his brother, but in a land built on trickery and lies, Jacob will need all the wit, courage, and reckless spirit he can summon to reverse the dark spell โ before it’s too late.
If you like reading and stories and at some point wished or dreamt you could just go inside your favourite book I can only recommend Funke’s Inkheart trilogy: Inkheart, Inkspell, Inkdeath.
There’s also Neil Gaiman’s Stardust. Thats the story the film with Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert de Niro is based on. The books is muuuuuch better. Much darker and not so cheesy. Try to get the book with the illustrations by Charles Vess. It makes it a true fairy tale for adults. ๐
If you’re into design, typography and like pretty books, you need to look at the ones I found from Harper Design. They made a Snow White, Little Red Riding Hood and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
If you like manga, there are quite a lot based on fairy tales, but the ones I know, unfortunately, are only available in Japanese, Chinese, German, French, etc, but not in English. Wonder why? ๐
Then there’s reading the original stories, of course โฆ ๐
Unfortunately I can’t think of any film or tv show. Oh, you can watch LOST, so you get all the references when you re-watch OUaT! That’s what I’m doing (and Emilie de Ravin is on it โฆ). Just a bit depressing the story โฆ
miaParticipantMidnight Dreary, come over here and I’ll take you to watch it. ๐ Don’t mind going a second time. Just not tonight, watching Dark Shadows โฆ
miaParticipantBelle, obviously. I’m not a Rumbelle ‘shipper, but I love Beauty and the Beast and Emilie de Ravin did such an amazing job in Skin Deep.
Maleficent, because there seemed to be a great story there. I really hope they show us her backstory. How and why she wanted Sleeping Beauty out of her way. Maybe she was in love with the prince?miaParticipant@obisgirl wrote:
I think I would like to be keeper of Prince Charming’s swag cape because he’s so good at whipping that thing around in a scene it’s become a supporting character. ๐ ๐
OMG! That was so cheesy, but I absolutely loved that in the finale! I laughed out loud nd actually mimicked him. It’s such a great swish, lol.
I’m adding Belle to my list: may I keep her view on love? I love her line “You know, to me, love is โฆ Love is layered. Love is a โฆ A mystery to be uncovered.”
miaParticipantJup, I forgot her name, but the woman of the OUaT Fan Podcast has it. Here’s the link:

Mary Margaret drives me crazy sometimes, but that’s the curse. I like how she started to change with Emma’s arrival.
Emma also drives me crazy, lol. Then again, I love the way her countenance changes, depending on who she’s dealing with. It’s interesting to see how she deals with the different situations as she didn’t have “normality” growing up.
miaParticipantThis quote ties with what Rumpel says about love “Love is the most powerful magic of all.” and “If you can bottle love, you can do anything.”
I believe that whatever Rumpel wants, whatever his agenda, he needs great power for it. Yes, we learn in this episode that Rumpel is “the most powerful man in the world”, but apparently not powerful enough to do what he wants to do.
Daniel asked in the podcast (I think it was him) why he needed a love potion. That potion with the hairs is NOT a love potion! It’s bottled love! Pure power!
I think Rumpel did this whole thing (and for this theory I’m saying he wanted the dark curse to happen) so that he’d have a major happy ending and with it could somehow channel all true love that comes with it, thus harnessing power until he has enough for whatever his objective is.โ from “I am invested in your future.” Heart of Darkness
Ok, so the rest isn’t really right, but he truly wanted the bottled love, because he needed greater power for something.
miaParticipantI re-watched Sleeping Beauty the other day and must say that OUaT Prince Charming is very much like Prince Philip (Phillip/Philipp however it’s written). Kinda makes me doubt if we’re ever gonna see that tale played out. I’d just love to see Maleficent again. She’s such a great villain in the film and seem intriguing in OUaT.
I guess with magic in Sb, we can expect some darkness โฆmiaParticipantHello to another Aussie. What did you do with horses?

Make me that blue dress and I’m in for it, lol! It’s the one dress I wanted since I was a kid. Strangely enough never been a fan of the other Disney princess’ dresses. o.รด
