As Henry begs Emma to stay in Storybrooke
Why on EARTH would she want to leave? 😯 Something really bad must have happened between her and Regina …

ParticipantNot really adding any real point to the discussion, but in Red-Handed it was made clear that there are no buses out of town. Emma says so to Ruby in that scene after Dr. Whale talked to latter. It’s just to reinforce the idea that there’s NO way out, but I found interesting how Emma did NOT find it strange.

ParticipantIt’s an interesting idea, only … What kind of message is that? Breaking a curse with HATE? KiTsis&Horowitz themselves said this show is about mothers and hope. The last thing they would try to get across, is that a dark feeling like hate could break such painful curse … 😐

ParticipantI don’t think the dagger can be destroyed or if it can only in a very special way. The thing with magical weapons – and the dagger is one hell of a magical object – is that they are either indestructible or nearly so. They often need a special, complex, dangerous method to break.
In my opinion the Dark One’s dagger can only be destroyed by lifting the Dark One of his curse, however you do that. Lifting the curse will turn the magical dagger into a normal dagger. This is just an assumption and there are no references in any episode. I like the subgenre fantasy and it often plays out like that. Either a very complex way to destroy it or some way to make it ineffective …

ParticipantWonderful idea this thread! 🙂 I love how the names all have some meaning and correspond their character.
A few notes that you could add, if you like. 😉

Mary = bitter or sea of bitterness. Margret = pearl, probably ultimately a borrowing from Sanskrit. Saint Margaret, the patron of expectant mothers, was martyred at Antioch in the 4th century. Later legends told of her escape from a dragon. Blanchard = White, also derived from a Germanic personal name composed of the elements “blanc”, shining, white, beautiful, plus the second element “-hard” brave, hardy, strong.
Please add that it comes from the French! Blanc or blanche. Snow White is also called Blanche in French.
As for Mary Margaret there are actually various theories of the source for the story of Snow White. One of them (as critics say, improbable as there are versions of Snow White prior to the date this one came about) says, that the tale is based on the life of Maria Sophia Margaretha Catharina von Erthal. Ginnifer Goodwin also mentions that she came across this while researching for the show and mentioned it to Kitsis&Horowitz who smiled (sry, can’t find the interview right now).@Surayya wrote:
Regina = Queen. Mills = A name originally given to one who worked in a mill (occupational) or lived near a mill (descriptive). Possibly from the Gaelic Milidh, meaning soldier.
Again, it would be great if you added that it’s Latin. Also, Mills could also have originated from the Greek word for apple: milo.

ParticipantHe could also be the Wizard of Oz. Wasn’t he a man who came to the land of Oz from our world? If he is maybe he also visited FTL and met Regina there or the other way around …

ParticipantThe actress (Lana Parrilla) also said so at the PaleyFest interview. She said she tried to also change her voice, so it would sound younger (it does actually sound different in the first few scenes, before tragic hits).

ParticipantThis is the Wikipedia article about the comic books:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fables_%28comics%29
They’re fun to read, not for children though. In it Snow White ends up married to Bigby (the Big Bad Wolf), who was the sheriff of Fabletown, New York, where they lived …mia

34 minutes into Stable Boy, Cora makes the comment, “Trust me, Regina. I know best.” The camera was on Barbara Hershey when she says it, although a wide shot. Perhaps this is hinting toward the “Motheeeerr knows best” song from Tangled.
And here I was thinking I was the only one who was reminded of exactly that! Ts ts, don’t be so conceited Mia …

Christina Gooding is welcomed on the show for the first time next episode (The Return) and she doesn’t have a character name listed on imDb. She’s also very blonde so, just to make my theory less crazy, this could be Rapunzel.
This site mentions her being a mute maid. I don't think they'll make her be Rapunzel, though you never know.

I also think it would be interesting if SB was suddenly on the map and ordinary “normal” people started moving into town and integrating with the fairy tale characters. It would be interesting to see how they would handle that situation. They couldn’t let people know who they are right away but they would need new people to come to town to keep the place going. And over time they would probably end up marrying normal people and then they would discover they had married fairy tale characters, etc. You could have characters from the other “worlds” come through the other doors to live in SB as well so at first no one would know if a new person was a normal person or a fairy tale character. It could be kind of a mystery to the “original” characters on the show – they could kind of take bets and follow new residents to determine whether they are normal or fairy tale characters. I think there are all kinds of things they could do to have fun with the show. Think of the fun they could have with holiday shows when in-laws come to SB to visit their “normal” family members and are surrounded by odd people that they can’t quite figure out!!
They might get some rights difficulties with Bill Willingham and his Fables comic books. The premise is different, but what you discribe is very close to what also is part of those comic books. It would be fun to watch, though. 🙂
