ONCE - Once Upon a Time podcast
Reviews, theories, and talk about ABC's Once Upon a Time TV show
It’s rated PG-13 in the US. I read the books last year and somehow am surpised so many children and teens like it. It’s so brutal! I mean, they’re psychologically really good (especially the third), but wow. I was really surprised to know they’re such a hit. Then again, many children’s books don’t seem age appropiate when you read them when you’re older, so …
I’m going to watch the film with some friends. I’m looking forward to it, to see what they did with the story.
DId you see the marketing of the film? Amazing! So well thought. The homepage, the facebook pages, the app. I don’t want to know how many thousands of dollars they invested.
Yes, Phee. Still, can’t wait for the DVD to hit the shelves (hopefully by August, when I’m in the US).
That would be sooo cool! *_*
Is it a LOST reference or what?
ROFL
It’ll be interesting to see some more past of Jiminy. How he helped Gepetto as a kid, etc. Maybe in season 2.
Got another: a close-up to the pages in Henry’s book we saw this season! I don’t remotely think they’ll do that, but it would be awsome.
Ha! So there is an actual original translation from Aschenputtel/Aschenbrödel (the German name, first one by the Grimm Brothers, the second another version). I always wondered about it. ^^
The beauty of this fairy tale is, that – like so many others – there are dozens of different versions (old ones) around. There’s Aschenputtel (Grimm version), Aschenbrödel (a ballett by Johann Strauss II and the story by Ludwig Bechstein), La Cenerentola (an opera by Gioachino Rossini), Cendrillon (story by Perrault – this is the one the Disney movie is based on) and many more!
I do love how they named her Ashley in SB, it gives such a great meaning, ashes being dark and filthy, cinders bright. 🙂
At least it’s shown there. Here the rights were bought but there’s no sign of a release date or even an exact channel (it was bought by media group owning various channel). 😐

Also, we know the title of the finale is called A Land Without Magic. Maybe Rumple does want to put an end to magic.
Exactly! Though it could also be just the beginning of SB after the curse was enacted. I doubt Rumpel’s goal will be attained by the end of this season. Then again, the creators did say sometime, that the season would be a closed arc on some level.
Uuuuh, I like your thoughts more and more. I never understood why Rumpel smiled at that moment. There was no reason for me to think he wanted David to “remember” his SB life. It also ties in with The Shepherd and Rumpel giving Charming the choice to accept the deal to become Prince James.
