I wonder if the plot of the episode is going to be Regina going from person to person, making sure they’ll all cursed. lol. Or maybe it’s a flashback over a long time. Like the first day, the first year, year 10 when she deicdes to get Henry, all leading up to notcing that Henry has run away, calling Graham over to her house and then enter Emma Swan in her yellow bug.I’ve been wondering along these lines as well when I saw it was 1983…if it would be over a longer period of time and include Henry’s adoption or if this was just isolated at the very beginning of the curse.
Looking at the eps leading up to it, we have…
Manhattan – Nealfire being found, which will include Henry meeting his father.
The Queen is Dead – Snow losing her mother.
Miller’s Daughter – Cora’s history most likely including Regina’s birth.
They’ll be rocking the parent/child theme pretty hardcore for a few eps there, so it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s all a build up to them showing how Regina got Henry.Makes me wonder how the Owen/Ben father comforting son over loss of his mother fits into all this (it is this episode isn’t it?)..I mean they do like to do parallels.

When he confronts Hook. That was brave. He did not choose to fight because he is essentially a statistician (without the formal training) he could see that there was never any way he would win. It could be that he took a look of the situation and realized that Milah was not worth fighting for–not to the point of death. He might have loved her–but only in so much as what necessary in his duty as a husband. The same applied to her only she decided to go against convention and abandon her “duty.” He also shows human nature at its ugliest when he crushes Milah’s heart.
First off…you did an excellent overall analysis…just wanted to add to your part about Milah that I believe that in confronting Hook he not only realized that he could not win but that fighting and losing to Hook would leave Bae without both parents. It may have not been the only factor in backing down but since Bae is the motivating factor for almost everything Rumple does…I think it could have been the strongest.

Would be careful with conclusions. Vancity Filming is a good source, but not someone working on the set. Can’t be sure what scene was filmed, in which time it was set. The differences between 1983 scene and present Storybrooke could be sometimes very subtle, so for outsiders not to tell.
So true…if they were stuck in time for 28 years I doubt the town would change much at all…this might simply be an indication that they are going to show when the curse first took place through Henry’s adoption to when MM first gave him the book and he discovered the truth.

True, and that is the way I saw him too until belle…. 😛 🙂 Now I want him to become better for her. lol So now I’m not too happy with not liking him 🙂
I kind of liked him either way but I get where you’re coming from. One thing about it…it’s just a flashback…these counterparts by themselves don’t exist anymore…unless they cross the Storybrook border.
mich7ParticipantAs I’m looking at that picture it occurred to me…everyone has those counterpart memories except Regina…how is she going to know how to drive a car.(and anything else that has to do with technology).

True! That could be scary. 😛 I don’t want to not like him….but I guess, well, he wasn’t a very likable character from the way the people treated him.
To me where Rumple comes across as kind of “fun” as a villain…I mean the laugh kind of sums up his personality to me…Gold comes across as the Godfather…a mafia type figure…or that is kind of the way I see him.

Yeah, I’m not sure if Rumpel would knowingly raise his daughter to be a monster. Even for the Dark One, that’s pretty cruel. He spent so much time obsessing over finding Baelfire and changing for him, so having him turn around and destroy his daughter’s life is just…it just doesn’t jive with what we know of Rumpel’s character. Yes, he’s a horrible example of a father and lover, but he does love them. He truly loves Belle and he truly loves Baelfire. He doesn’t always express his love in the proper way, but it’s there. I truly belive that Rumpel would have at least tried to protect Regina if he knew she was his daughter.
The writers need to be careful with this particular storyline. One wrong step and the whole is ruined.
Amen to that! Besides, we’re all talking about how Rumpel would react – what about Regina? Wouldn’t she probably go ballistic after finding out the jerk who helped ruin her life is her father? 😯
First she’s gotta get past the fact that she’s been raising Rumple’s grandson. 😀
I think Regina will be in shock if it turns out Rumple is her real father. Honestly, I’m not sure how she’ll handle it. Despite the fact that she and Rumple have been at each others throats for so long I actually think her relationship with him is more stable than the one she has with her mother…imo.

I was sort of looking forward to more Emma and Neal then Rumpelstiltskin–they are the ones that might meet up in this episode after 11 years apart.
I’m thinking that they are going to clue us in to how the whole prophecy and Dark Curse came into being but I’m sure that the present day stuff will have Emma/Neal.
