1) What was your favorite episode of S7B?
My favourite episode of the second half the season would be – “Knightfall” ( Ep 7×13), just a solid good episode.
Runner up: ”Leaving Storybrooke” (Ep 7×22) was a great series finale.2) What was your least favorite episode of S7B?
My least favourite episode would be “A Taste of the Heights” (Ep 7×12) – it was just a boring filler episode in which not much happened.
Runner Ups: ”The Guardian” (Ep 7×18) and ”Flower Child” (Ep 7×19) both episodes were a mess.3) What was your favorite/least favorite moment of S7B?
My favourite moments of S7B would be Hook and Captain Ahab pistol duel to prove which of them is tougher. Also another good moment was when with Hook near death, the real Rumple decided to sacrifice in own life by ripping out his heart and putting in Hook’s body was a really great to show how Rumple character has come so far to sacrifice his life for his old enemy. Another good scene was when Hook asked Rumple ”with all the power you once had, how come you never used it to destroy me” and Rumple replied ”because you were the closest thing I ever had to a friend” was a really good aww-moment.
My least favourite moment would be how easy Gothel was defeated and trapped in a form of a tree so maybe a comeback in a possible spin-off. Also most of Jacinda and older Henry scenes who are both bad actors and had zero chemistry and their are probably one of main reasons the show got cancelled.4) We didn’t really meet any new characters in S7B but overall, which character who hadn’t appeared in S1-6 did you most enjoy? And which one did you not enjoy at all?
One of best new character is probably Drizella Tremaine /Ivy Belfrey in which I thought she would be giving more of a role but only got 13 episodes. One of the most interesting characters of the new ones but not given enough time.
One of the worst new characters are probably Lucy and Jacinda, both equally irritating.5) If you could change anything about S7B what would it be?
Where do you start, well the first big change would be no Cinderella or Lucy or older Henry. So the younger Henry played by Jared Gilmore has just graduated college and goes off on a new adventure and meets Alice, Drizella and Gothel and are eventually cursed to Hyperion Heights with no timeline headache. But also keep the cursed personas the same with Rumple, Hook and Regina. Also Gothel back story should have been earlier and better than ”Flower Child”. Overall the series finale could have been better with either Regina sacrificing her life for older Henry or getting married to Wish Realm Robin would have been more of a fitting end.
6) Did OUAT deserve another year? Or was it right to cancel it now?
It was time to end, I hate to say it but it was going downhill, and where could it go next, I don’t think their was much more story-lines but maybe in a few years a possible spin off on Captain Hook hopefully.
But Kitsis told Entertainment Weekly that there were ideas in store for a Season 8. “The [series] finale was going to be what we were going to do [to end Season 7], and then we’re just not doing cliffhanger,” Kitsis said. Though there was a pitch prepared for Season 8, it didn’t gain any traction among network execs. “It was never heard,” Kitsis said in the same interview, “We’ll save it for the spinoff when they approach us in two years.” He adds, on season 8, “I think we would have probably returned to Storybrooke and done something there…Usually we have a few notions and then in between seasons we plot it out”
7) Final Grade/Ranking for S7B?
Overall – C+
[adrotate group="5"]MichelleParticipant1) What was your favorite all time episode of OUAT? (feel free to pick more than one if you really can’t decide between a few)
My top 5 episodes are ”Snow Drifts” (S3 Ep 21), ”There’s No Place Like Home” (S3 Ep 22), “Pilot” (S1 Episode 1), ”The Crocodile” (S2 Ep 4) and ”The Song in Your Heart (S6 Ep 20).
2) What was your least favorite all time episode of OUAT? (feel free to pick more than one if you really can’t decide between a few)
My least favourite 5 episodes are ‘”Hyperion Heights” (S7 Season 7 Ep 1), ”The Garden of Forking Path” (S7 Ep 3), ”Ruby Slippers” (S5 Ep 18), ”The Broken Kingdom (S5 Ep 4) and ”The Tower” (S3 Ep 14.
3) What was your favorite and least favorite season of OUAT?
My order of seasons overall:
<ol>
<li>S2</li>
<li>S3</li>
<li>S1</li>
<li>S4</li>
<li>S5</li>
<li>S6</li>
<li>S7</li>
</ol>
Season Two is my favourite season with the introduction of the charming but scoundrel Captain Hook, which brought much needed new life into the show. My least favourite would be the recently finished season 7 as it marked significant changes for the series, as majority of the main cast members would not be returning including; Snow, Charming, Emma Swan and Belle. This season was bit of a mess and without the original cast members and Storybrooke it just doesn’t work. The new characters were terrible and irritating including, Lucy, Jacinda, older Henry and Lady Tremaine. The original cast members of Rumple, Hook and Regina made it half watchable.4) Who was your favorite and least favorite MAJOR (meaning, regular cast member) character?
My favourite character overall would have to be Captain Hook/ Killian Jones in season 2 especially as he is old- fashioned, swashbuckling, sexy, handsome, flirtatious, and adventurous pirate. But in later seasons he became too much of Emma’s puppy dog and I would have liked to have seen more adventures with Hook and given him more storylines. My favourite lines of his includes: “A man unwilling to fight for what he wants, deserves what he gets.” Hook: Normally, I prefer to do other more enjoyable activities with a woman on her back. With my life on the line, you’ve left me no choice. A bit of advice? When I jab you with my sword, you’ll feel it”. Also cheeky funny lines such as, Emma: I don’t want or expect that. I know there’s a lot of history here and a lot of hate. Hook: Actually, I quite fancy you from time to time. When you’re not yelling at me. or Emma: Don’t think I’m taking my eyes off you for a second. Hook: I would despair if you did.
My least favourite would be Zelena or Regina, as both should have been killed off at the end but instead rewarded and in Regina case she became queen of the realms, I mean Regina killed countless villagers, Graham and her own dad Henry only because she wanted to get revenge on Snow White. But overall Zelena was worse and should have been killed off in season 3 and not brought back.
5) Who was your favorite and least favorite MINOR (meaning only made brief appearances, either a single episode or more but never a regular cast member)?
My favourite minor character would be Aurora played by Sarah Bolger, I thought they could have given her more of storyline and maybe in season 7. Also I thought Greg Germann was great as Hades and also Robbie Kay as Peter Pan was very good in that role.
My least favourite minor characters would be Maleficent, Lily, Merlin, and bad King Arthur not a good idea as all were pointless characters.6) What do you think OUAT’s biggest success story was? And what was their biggest mistake?
Once Upon a Time biggest success story would be no one at Abc would have thought it would have reached 155 episodes. With characters from classics like Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland, Wizard of Oz, and Robin Hood to keep the the story going year after year and keep it fresh as possible is a big achievement.
The biggest failure was Season 7 with most of cast leaving was terrible outcome as for S7 the storyline was softly rebooted and led by an adult Henry Mills played by Andrew J. West. The seventh season begins with several years after the Final Battle, in which Henry leaves Storybrooke in search of his own story, only to find himself in New Fairy Tale Land. The new characters include: Lady Tremaine, Cinderella, Drizella and Gothel. Most of the brand-new characters are dreadful and timeline was confusing especially with Robin who was 23 and only a baby in season 6.
7) Would you recommend OUAT to someone?
Yes but I would say that 1-4 are the best seasons and timelines are a mess in season 7
8) What is the legacy of OUAT?
That the show is about hope in which you can escape your day to day life for over 42 minutes but with sometimes silly storylines, however also with some enjoyable storylines. Also before OUAT it is good for not so well known actors like Lana and Colin who were both excellent as the Evil Queen and Captain Hook and therefore who might do quite well post OUAT. Finally the great fan fiction and fan art are still a big part of the legacy still today.
9) Grade the entire series!
This is hard question so I would break it up and say S1-S3 – A but S4-S6 – B+ and Season 7 – C. The overall series grade I would give it a B+.
