Oh, I wanted to post a reply, but An Empty Heart was quicker and managed to address most of the things I wanted spot on.
There is one thing I wanted to add. Rumple didn’t see the Dark One as a human being. To him it was an evil magical creature whose powers the duke used to terrorize the people of his land
( he was witness to it). Zoso convinced him to kill it and take over its powers and Rumple believed that he would be able to use them for good, to save his son and other children from the gruesome war. Was it really that bad to want to kill the Dark One? I mean, really?[adrotate group="5"]mickeyParticipantI like that theory too, but there’s one problem with it, namely Henry. He did procure Henry for Regina and that couldn’t have been a coincidence. He must have known whose kid Henry was.
mickeyParticipantWe probably all feel that Belle’s life is in danger. But on the other hand if Regina killed her, then that would be over for her. She would no longer have the upper hand over Gold and she would have to face his wrath. She would be done and the final battle would end pretty quickly, I think.
mickeyParticipantSorry, didn’t mean to offend you. But no matter how absurd it sounds somehow in all your posts concerning Rumple’s fake ( yes I know it’s fake) character you seem prejudiced, biased or whatever you call it. I see it that way and can’t help it. You just always seem to see the worst of him, expect the worst and wish him the worst, even though, in fact, there are many shades of grey in this character.
You said somewhere earlier that Rumple was a bad person before he bacame the Dark One, so before he burnt the count’s house, killed Zoso etc. Why do you think so? Where was it said that he killed his wife or stole Bae from someone? The only thing implied is that Bae might not be his biological son.
Don’t get me wrong. I believe he is a villain of the series. I just don’t think he is the devil himself. And contrary to what you say I believe that his evilness is a result of the curse.mickeyParticipantYou still didn’t manage to answer what some people asked you, namely why do you think Rumple, a single-parent of Bae, was such a bad person before he met Zoso. You didn’t find any arguments to support your claim ( apart from guess work) so you just reversed the question and tried to prove that there isn’t anything good in him ( which, I think, is very far from the truth).
It’s something more than just a difference of opinion. Sorry to say that but you seem extremely prejudiced against Rumple.mickeyParticipantI don’t understand it either. You can’t sympathise with pre-curse Rumple even though he sacrificed his humanity to practically save his son’s life but you can find sympathy for EQ just because she had a bad childhood. A lot of people have bad childhood, even worse than her, and they don’t turn out like this. And it wasn’t her childhood that made her evil. She grew up a strong and passionate woman capable of love. The loss of her loved one was what changed her.
And what exactly was so bad about Rumple before he got cursed.mickeyParticipantIt’s perfectly ok to dislike Rumple, but you can’t always expect the worst of him and blame him for everything bad that happens. Noone is either black or white. Neither is Rumple.
I think that nothing so far suggets that Rumple would be able to hurt Bae. On the contrary, he went to desperate lenghts to protect him from the cruelties of war.
As for Belle, he definitely overreacted, yelled at her and threw her out. The way he acted was hurtful and unfair. But let’s face it. Rumple is not Prince Charming, he’s the Beast here. He has some issues and he’s been through a lot. Besides let’s not forget that he is cursed. And Belle was aware of all of it and understood the reasons for his outburst. He can still redeem himself in her eyes, I think.April 5, 2012 at 1:07 pm in reply to: Official Promotional Stills for Episode 1×19 "The Return" #141029mickeyParticipantI think that Blue Fairy is going to be involved in some kind of a deal with Rumple or Bae and the deal will somehow involve the dagger as well. So she will probably find out about its existence. But about Pinocchio I’m just not sure. I mean, Pinocchio was a small kid when the curse was enacted. How would the fairy explain to him what she wants him to do in the future and why. And why would he be determined to do it many years later. I just can’t see the connection between Pinocchio and Rumple yet. But maybe it will be revealed in the next episode.
The problem with August’s identity is that the creators said that one of the theories floating around is true and they themselves excluded some of them. So there aren’t many left.April 4, 2012 at 8:15 pm in reply to: Official Promotional Stills for Episode 1×19 "The Return" #140952mickeyParticipantAs much as I would like August to be Bae I think that those promotional photos combined with the promo for the next episode contradict this theory. From the photos we can see that Bae saw the dagger and actually held it. In the promo August was looking at the picture of the dagger probably so that it would be easier for him to find it.
If he was Bae, he wouldn’t need the picture. Bae knew what the dagger looked like. Only a person who hadn’t seen the dagger before would need the picture to recognise it.mickeyParticipantWhat I’m wondering about Jefferson is how did he know that Emma is special and has magic. Who told him about it? How did he know so much about what was going on in SB? What do you guys think?
