A Chipped Cup, if you notice, we all agree on that.
The question was however, why is REGINA helping her, since the only reason why she joined her mother was to get Henry back and she shouldn’t be trusting her in anything. The only possible reason would be to eliminate Gold so that he cannot threaten Henry. I’m also a fan of the theory that Cora knows all along that Bae is Neal (I cannot see him being anyone else) and when she reveals it to Regina, she might freak out she will lose Henry for good? From what we’ve seen, I don’t think it would take much for Regina to fall into Cora’s trap.

Set reports say that Charming was at the shop but Cora and Regina used magic to weaken him. So, Cora and Regina are not only going after Rumpel, but the Charmings as well. That’s why I’m not so quick to jump on the “Rumpel has it coming” train. Hurting Rumpel is fine, but why is Charming getting punished?
There’s a good chance that this particularly scene has nothing to do with punishing Rumpel, but more to do with Cora finally getting her hands on the world’s most powerful weapon.
midnight drearyParticipantOoo! Ok, I ADORE this title card! 😮 I read somewhere that you can see Baelfire in the title car, but I can’t see him.
midnight drearyParticipantWelcome to the forums, Ser_Dragon! Rumpel/Gold is my favorite character as well. 😀

Oh my goodness, that scene almost killed me. I agree A Chipped Cup, Belle will be heartbroken once Belle regains her memories. But of course, there’s nothing a little magic can’t fix. Gold will find a way to mend it back together eventually. But the thing that upset me the most was not the cup shattering, but the symbol of Belle and Rumpel’s love shattering. The cup represented Rumpel’s love for Belle and his sorrow after hearing about her supposed “death” back in the Enchanted Forest. So, having it smashed to the ground was like taking Rum’s heart and smashing it to the ground as well.
I completely agree. It wasn’t the death of the cup that upset me, it was the (temporary) death of the relationship that upset me. But like most have pointed out in other threads, Belle will eventually regain her memory. However, it will probably be through great sacrifice on Rumpel’s part. I think he’s either going to have to give something up or make a grand gesture to prove to Belle that he loves her. Either way, it may prove to be a good thing for both characters. It will give Rumpel time to realize the consequences of his actions and a chance to make some real changes in his life. And for Belle, it will give her some interesting character development.
Having said all that, I WANT MY RUMBELLE BACK!!! 😥

Writers, for the love of God please don’t kill Rumpel. He’s too awesome to die! 😥
Personally, my theory is that Cora and Regina raid Mr. Gold’s shop and steal what she thinks is the dagger, but is in fact a fake. Why would Gold keep the dagger in such an obvious place? Last time we saw the dagger it was burried far out into the woods. Rumpel is usually good at hiding things, so there’s no way he would keep is most priced weapon in the shop.
My final judgement: It’s a fake.

The characters were written out of this world ridiculous. Regina was weak and predictable. Her trusting Cora made absolutely no sense. It felt forced. I hated Cora’s scene with Mr. Gold. I hated Gold making threats to the Charming family. I hated seeing Belle smash the chipped cup. And I hated the flashbacks. The only thing I liked about them was Rumpel.
I’m actually shocked that Jane Espenson wrote this episode. She’s usually really good at writing characters, but she really dropped the ball with this one.
