That is a very interesting theory. He could have toyed with her and make her think killing her father was enough to enact the curse.
Exactly. I just don’t believe that Rumpel, being the maniacal evil genius that is, would give up his greatest curse so willingly. I think rober Carlyle said something similar a few weeks ago. He basically suggested that maybe Rumpel made the curse for himself, and not necessarily for evil. So, there’s a strong possibility that Regina has not only cast the wrong curse, but is using incorrectly.
Ot at least that’s what I hope igoing to happen. 😆

Unfortunately, I think Belle may have been brainwashed. Knowing how Rumpel and Belle felt about each other, I doubt Regina would allow her to keep her memories without asevere consequences.
That’s my thinking as well. Regina has been actvely trying to keep the fairytale couples apart. Mary Margaret and David in particular. So, it makes sense that she would capture and brainwash the true love of her greatest enemy. I think she’s planning to use Belle as a tool to unhinge Mr. Gold. So, we may have to wait a little longer for our reunion. 😥

Rumpel in gold speedos? I’m oddly intrigued by this idea.

I don’t think Regina would need to brainwash Belle into hating Gold. What he did to her was enough for her to not go back to him. I wouldn’t go back to a guy who acted like. He is too erratic and completely flipped out and even though he felt sorry about it afterwards i really think he would do it again. I mean look at what he did to Belle’s father.
Hmm, it depends on how you see it. Belle’s final words to Rumpel seemed to be that of regret and longing. She tried to convince Rumpel to let her stay and give her another chance. So, she seemed to be still in love with him. And if that’s the case, then Regina will need to brainwash her.

ParticipantI actually think Belle would help motivate Mr. Gold to accomplish whatever he’s trying to accomplish. However, it’s tricky. Love tends to…what’s the word…unhinge people. So, Mr. Gold is going to have to be very careful. Which is why I partially support his new “alliance” with Regina. If he’s able to infiltrate the inner workings of Regina’s plan, as well as gain her trust, then he’ll have the upper hand. Besides, I kind of think he already has the upper hand. It’s his curse. It’s his creation. And there’s also the possibility that Rumpel gave Regina the wrong ingredients to the curse.
I have a theory that True Love was the key ingredient in the curse, not the heart of someone you love. Regina did manage to cast a curse, but maybe it was the wrong curse, or a different curse. Something obviously went wrong because people keep remembering who they are. Even before Emma came into town. The Mad Hatter, Henry, and possibly Belle. I think Regina miscast the curse.
God, I love that Rumpel. 😆

ParticipantHEY HEY HEY! No more talking about fans or ships. They tend to be extremely divisive and stressful. We’re all family here. 😀
Now, onto discussing the wonderul character of Belle. 😀
Is anyone else concerned about Belle’s current mental state? Aside from the obvious dilema of her being in an asylum, I have a feeling she may be brainwashed. 😯 I think Regina may have brainwashed Belle to hate Rumpel. But then again, that wouldn’t make much sense. Wouldn’t it be in Regina’s best interest to make sure that Belle’s feelings for Rumpel are still intact so that she could kiss him and destroy his power?

Sorry if my posts sounds like mindless fangirl rambling. I’m not sure if this is an appreciation thread or a character duscussion thread. But here it goes!
I think Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin is the deepest and most complex character on the show. The show’s characterization of him went from a malicious psychotic mad man, to a deeply flawed, sympathetic and almost tragic romatic figure. His character-centric episodes (Desperate Souls and Skin Deep) have been my favorite episodes so far. They’re always dark and tragic, with a hint of romance and compassion. To me, Rumpelstiltskin is the epitome of the tragic romantic figure. A man who started out as a simple and decent man, but succumbed to powerful temptation which ultimately destroyed him.
Welcome to the forums Empty Heart! It’s nice to see another Rumpel-lover in the house!
And MAJOR PROPS for your post! I completely agree.

Participant*Facepalm* 🙄 People, no more of this, ok. It doesn’t really matter who’s more popular. Each character and pairing has a large fanbase of their own. It’s no big deal.

ParticipantOk, can we not talk about the fans in the Belle discussion thread? I don’t want any of that shipping business pollutting the thread. Besides, it tends to divide people and we’re all friends here. 😀

I really love this theory. I’ve always had a thing for mulitple alternative universes.
I wonder if Oz will become one of them as well?
