I’ve had Alice in Wonderland in my head ever since the first episode. The title of episode 1×17 pretty much confirms my suspicion of it’s inclusion. The first thing I noticed that pertained to Wonderland was in the first episode, when Emma crashes into the SB sign and the book flips through pages, one of the pages has a picture of Alice (I think?) and the Caterpillar (you know, the one that uses a hookah). A more subtle hint at Wonderland is Emma (“Alice”) being brought to Storybrooke (“Wonderland”) by Henry (the “white rabbit”). Also Regina/Evil Queen is the Queen of Hearts, since she collects hearts.
A theory I developed on my own is that the Stranger is the Cheshire Cat. He sort of talks in riddles and in a roundabout way, never giving Emma or Henry a straightforward answer. Also, someone mentioned that he wears a lot of pink and purple in his scenes. I correlated this to my theory and Disney’s version of the Cheshire Cat is pink and purple!Oooo! I like this theory! August being the Cheshire Cat would DEFINTIELY be a huge twist!

Participant^Hmm…good point. Unless, knowing Rumpelstiltskin’s phobia of losing his son, maybe he gave Bae some of his power or placed a spell on him that gave him a longer lifespan?
Hmm…I just can’t shake the feeling that Rumpelstiltskin and the Mad Hatter are connected somehow. Ooo! I wonder if the Mad Hatter was the creator of the curse? 😮 😮 😮

ParticipantOMG!!! I JUST POSTED THAT IN ANOTHER THREAD!!! I really hope it’s true. I love the idea of Kathyrn inhabiting the roles of Abigal and Alice at the same time. This show is well-known for their ability to blend different fairytales together and their love for giving a character two different fairytale identities. Rumpel is not only Rumpel, but he’s also the Dark One, the Beast and the Fairy God-mother. So, it would be pretty cool to see Kathryn assume two roles.

What about Henry, Regina’s father in the second episode? He is definitely not a king. ❓ 😐
I agree. In fact, I don’t think Regina is royalty at all. From the looks of the behind the sceens photo and the theory of the Millers daughter, it appears that Regina was just an oridinary commoner.

ParticipantOk, this is going to sound all kinds of crazy, but stay with me.
Episode 1×17 is going to focus on the story of Alice in Wonderland. This episode follows closely after the disappearance of Kathryn. There are unconfirmed spoilers that “Wonderland” is actually another reality that is completely separate from Fairytale land. So, what if upon leaving Storybrook, Kathyrn was transported to Wonderland? 😮 😮 😮

ParticipantI love them all! I love how the Grimm fairytales in particular were actually grim! They were cautionary tales for children and they were presented in such a dark and horrific way. Those stories were the thing that taught me to never talk to strangers. Sorry mommy. 😆

There is a theory floating around that maybe Regina’s mother is the millers daughter that the original Rumpel story is about. That would make Regina’s mother queen and then Regina a princess. That would make Regina the child that Rumpel took or was supposed to take. I am not really sure about that story. That could explain their relationship. Maybe Rumpel taught the queen her magic.
I’ve always believed that Rumpelstiltskin was the one who gave Regina her power. I doubt she was born a witch and I’m pretty sure she’s human (hopefully). And I really like the theory of Regina’s mother being the Miller’s daughter. So, if we’re going to listen to that theory, then Regina’s rivalry with Rumpel was not something that she started, it was something her mother started. Looks like we have a multi-generational rivalry on our hands. 😯 😯 😯

I loved this episode so much. I’m curious if anyone else has wondered in Regina/Evil Queen may have been Rumplestiltskin’s wife. Their interactions seem like there is a lot of history…
WHOA. That theory didn’t even cross my mind. Personally, I don’t think that’s the case, but if this theory does turn out to be true, I will get down on my knees and worship this show. Very cool theory.
