I think it was a mistake.
Hmm, I don’t see why it should be a mistake; I don’t think they’d refer to God as frozen – or anything actually, since A/E are going out of their way not to mention anything about him and saying he’s frozen…….that’s too much of a spoiler for them
No mistake there. Remember what we saw happening: Rumple stabbing Pan, Pan losing his juvenile charm turning back to old papa Malcolm, Rumple and Malcom disappearing with a shimmering light. If you have hope for Rumple, then there is as well “hope” for Malcolm and maybe even Pan. We saw Malcom/Pan maybe dying but for sure not dead. Thought for a while now, that it’s only sure, that he won’t return for this season, but options for him are there for later seasons. Malcolm/Pan is not dead dead like Cora yet. Not sure if they already have any plans, but sure A&E want to keep it open, and that is all that there is to that info at the moment. Can’t kill all spectacular villains on first try (hmm, did any villain on this show so far even die on first try?)
Why do the say Rapunzel is weird?
It was in a spoiler of Keck’s exclusive, where Kitsis hinted, that their Rapunzel would be a little darker, with a touch of the 2004 horror movie The Grudge. Well, The Grudge was a weird movie. 😉 Or maybe Jevon Phillips from LA Times knows, that weird comes from old english wyrd = fate, destiny, that which comes. Read Macbeth? The three witches in there are also known as the weird sisters, and interpreted as the fates. Some maybe remember though better Harry Potter, where the Weird Sisters are a very popular band 😉 Or the writer simply used that word, because the Rapunzel of OUaT is not quite the Rapunzel everybody beliefs to know, so she is weird.

February 19, 2014 at 12:57 am in reply to: Would you support a petition to twitter to help stop "hate" activity? #245916Myril
ParticipantIt’s not the first time the question is discussed of how Twitter reacts, how fast and how decisive to reports of abuse, harrasment, trolling. As example there has been a vivid discussion half a year ago in connection with serious threats against Caroline Criado-Perez and other women. In that context there was a petition to add a report abuse button to tweets – which more or less succeeded because a report button was added, it makes reporting somewhat easier now.
Sarah_TN, I support your intentions, but think you’re ideas need to be reassessed.
I guess you actually mean blocking an IP address and not ISP address, because it is an IP address which identifies a computer (and alike) on the internet. Blocking an IP address though doesn’t help that much, because in many places usually average users don’t have a permanent or static IP address but a dynamic one, they get one of the many an ISP has each time they access Internet; the addresses for one person, the computer or router they have at home or usually use can change. So you might not block the attacker permanently but instead deny some innocent person access the next time they go online and try to visit the page. Not to mention, there are ways to circumvent such blocks by for example using proxy servers or by going into an internet cafe. Unless you’re able to take away a person’s access to any internet capable device and to force everybody to personally identify before being able to access internet such kind of a 3-strikes and block policy fails.
I am not a supporter of forcing everybody to personally identify (via ID card or maybe be better retina or fingerprint scan) before being able to access internet wherever. As I am seeing good reasons to still make it possible for people to access and participate on sites eventually anonymous, despite the downside that it has with trolls and haters and stalkers making use of that as well.
Reporting abuse and harassment sure shouldn’t be a way through bureaucratic hell, but IMO never should be a simple one click solution either. Unfortunately people sometimes misuse possibilities to report people, use it as a tool to harass and bully, it sure happens with the Report for Spam button, so I am okay that Twitter doesn’t instantly shut down an account if reported. It should be checked, and that might take time. And what looks obvious to you is not always legally backed, and companies have to consider that.
Sarah_TN, you talk of a hater, but what I saw on these accounts (well the first two, missed the last one you mentioned) is IMO a troll. The lines are sometimes not clear cut, but trolls want to disrupt, provoke, get a reaction, they don’t care if they harm a person doing so, and they are mostly not personal, even if they troll a single person eventually, it is not actually about the person, they only make it sound like it is. Many use the term troll interchangeably with the term bully, but I think there is a difference, different in that bullies are more personal, eventually attacking individuals as representation for something they despise, but still what they do is as well more about self-comfort, maybe to establish a power positions for themselves, and/or entertaining themselves and others than about the person they attack. Haters are personal and mean it personal and their goal is not (self-) entertainment but discomfort and harm to the person they’re attacking. Think it is important to note that there are different types of attacks, because it means different approaches to deal with them. The old saying, don’t feed a troll, has still its merits.
Whatever we call it, trolling, cyper-bullying, if we see different types or not, more policing is not going to stop it, we need a change of culture.
I agree, what cast and crew (and other persons in public, celebrities in the broad sense) sometimes receive via Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook is not acceptable, some is trolling, some plain hate, other things go from improper to stalker. As well some criticism and discussion should be toned down, some people clearly are overly passionate and rash with judgment and words. Unfortunately I think that cast and crews are left alone to deal with it way too often, that production companies, studios even agents yet don’t see a responsibility to support their stars and people more in handling it. Furthermore: PR people know how to handle other professionals, the media, but if it comes to the possibilities fans and not-fans have by now to address and contact individual actors, writers, producers (to just talk about tv and film business) I think it’s even for good PR people still more improvising on new grounds than knowing how to handle it.
But it’s not just an issue for cast and crews of shows and movies or bands or sport teams, it’s an issue inside the fandom and for the fandoms as much. Fans attacking fans and fans getting attacked by trolls, because being passionate about something makes one interesting for attacks and eventually easy prey. Maybe there is not that much to do about trolls besides not feeding and giving a cold-shoulder, but we have to address bullying and hating inside the fandom.
Don’t want to compare what’s happening in tv show fandoms with the violence and impact of what has happened and is happening in football (aka what in the U.S is called soccer) fandoms, it’s not there yet. European football clubs have fans projects, and UEFA made it by now mandatory for them, to have a fan or supporter liaison, people from the fandom or good contacts to fandom to handle the contact with the club and fans (and eventually police), with some experience and (basic) skills in communication, psychology, sociology, education. But when I recently read up about fan projects and fan liaison in football the thought crossed my mind, that maybe something in that direction is due in other areas like tv show fandoms as well. Addressing and doing something against bullying, cyper-bullying is not just something the social media platforms have some responsibility in (namely at the moment most important Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook and Instagram). Maybe it’s time for studios, broadcast and cable companies to think about ways what they can do about it, how they can show responsibility and not just do marketing for their shows. (same goes for music industry, but we’re a tv show fan forum, so keeping it to that here). Maybe there is already something like that and I just haven’t noticed it, then please let me know. The old media PR is not it.
And yes, it’s time for us fans to show responsibility too. I am glad to see there is something happening on this forum (although hadn’t the impression it’s that much of an issue here, thankfully and thanks to moderation). But this forum is just one place. Don’t know how good contacts are so far between different podcasts, forums, fan-site with bigger influence (aka members, number of followers), but maybe should talk about an organized action. No pillory thing, troll or bully name hunting, but a discussion about it and how we can support and help each other?
Sorry, Sarah_TN, I don’t want to discourage you nor your petition, just musing here loud. As said, I support your intention though I don’t support your petition, just looking for other, additional ways to approach the matter. What do you think? What do others think?

Participant“The Grudge describes a curse that is born when someone dies in the grip of a powerful rage or extreme sorrow. The curse is an entity created where the person died.” Could Rapunzel have something to do with The Dark One?
Maybe her mother died? BTW, the next part of the wikipedia description: “Those who encounter this evil supernatural force die and the curse is reborn repeatedly, passed from victim to victim in an endless, growing chain of horror. The following events are explained in their actual order; the original film is presented in a non-linear narrative.” It does sound rather Dark One-ish. Though for Rapunzel to be tied to the Dark One Curse, wouldn’t she, and her father, have to have lived a looooooonnng time ago, so why are they seemingly alive in present day?
Not impossible they would connect it with the Dark One, but the curse in The Grugde is in my opinion a very different type of curse than the curse of the Dark One. The Dark One has something coldblooded, calculated, intellectual evil in his character, while the curse in The Grudge is about raw, uncontrolled and uncontrollable destructive emotions, it’s kinda vengeance, fury coming to supernatural life. It says at the beginning of the movie “”When someone dies in the grip of a powerful rage… A curse is born. The curse gathers in that place of death. Those who encounter it will be consumed by its fury.” (The Grudge, 2004) The movie The Grudge is a haunted house or place story including murder-suicide. See haunted house tv-trope. It has a few disturbing images, hairy moments, and some find the non linear structure of the plot rather confusing, although it makes the movie somewhat interesting (besides that it stars Sarah Michelle Gellar and was produced by Sam Raimi and Robert Tapert, who produced among other things as well Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena The Warrior Princes, in which Rose McIver played roles in episodes as kid; can’t help it, six degrees of separation). Will be interesting what inspiration A&E got from the movie besides giving Rapunzel more of a horror touch. Rapunzel’s tower prison as a haunted place maybe? Her family or she haunted by a ghost of vengeance? Or maybe not a ghost.

ParticipantA tv musical comedy fairy tale series? Uhm, well, not so sure about that. Have been a musical buff in a former life time (still like watching movies like West Side Story, and would like to see a movie version of Wicked), sure enjoyed musical episodes of Buffy, Xena or Sanctuary, and even Grey’s, but already find Glee rather boring (but am certainly not Glee’s target audience). Have a hard time to envision fairy tale comedy musical as joy for a season, and be it just 10-13 episode season. But we’ll see (or maybe not if the pilot is not convincing, although ABC president Paul Lee sounded excited about the concept and script)
Interesting RG I wonder if that will shot in Vancouver just like OUAT & OUATWL ?
No, they’re not filming in Vancouver, not even on the same continent, they’re filming in the UK.

ParticipantOne particular death might have been undone? Guess unless they’re totally dumb they are not talking about Blue (her death was a particular death undone thanks to the burning of the Shadow, wasn’t it) but about another, second person been back among the living thanks to the undoing of The Shadow.
Rumple can’t be it. Rumple cut off his own shadow and sent it away to hide the dagger. As far as we know Rumple’s shadow never came into touch with The Shadow, nor did The Shadow anything to Rumple besides pretending to be Bell. More important: The Shadow was already burned when Rumple called back his shadow, stabbed his father and himself and disappeared.
Greg? No. Of course there is the possibility, that someone took his body and preserved it somewhere, and Tink only deduced that it was eaten, but doubt that. Who should have done that and for what purpose? And what reasons should the writers have to bring Greg back? Didn’t look to me like they had really much love for that character, and quite sure the audience had no love for him. The character was a big failure, and should stay buried at the bottom of the well of oblivion. Because of the coming back of Blue one could ask, what about Greg – his shadow might still hang around somewhere for all we know. But very much doubt that he is coming back to the land of the living as normal human being ever. As has been pointed out before, it’s not even said in this tease, just that where Greg is these days is related. It might mean nothing.
I am with WickedRegal in this. I’m still wondering what Blue’s death and resuscitation actually was about, what the function of it was or is for the story telling. If this ties in with explaining why the Wicked Witch shows up now, then it would finally make bit of sense. Not taxing my brain here with how the Wicked Witch could be connected to Pan/Malcolm and why he eventually took her shadow and sort of killed her that way (maybe it was revenge of a ditched lover, whatever), but it makes the most sense at this moment to me.
It would be some decent story telling even, a twist of the interesting kind. Magic comes with a price, as we know. And it would be some irony, if counteracting the evil Pan created or made use of, and counteracting the Dark curse Pan adapted to his wishes, a curse Regina made use of, put together by Rumple, would contribute to unleashing a new formidable evil, attacking especially Regina (and maybe Rumple as well). Good creating evil creating good creating evil.

ParticipantSorted the list quite accurate for me too.
1. Ruby and Tinkerbell
3. Emma Swan
4. Blue Fairy
5. Mulan and AuroraRegina and Maleficent made the TOP 10, while I have not much of a thing for Pan, Wendy Darling, Sidney Glass and Smee (they share last rank on my list). LOL, the only guy who made it into my TOP 10 is Grumpy.

ParticipantThey had a great, interesting character with Red – and they messed it up. No matter if they might even some day find a way to wrap her story up somewhat decently at least (or if Meghan Ory might have more time for them again continue), the mess is done. Letting her go on happy honeymoon with Frankenstein into the Black-and-White world would be just an easy way out and IMO very unsatisfactory. Sorry, but Frankenstein is a brat, and unless he grows up he just doesn’t deserve such a great woman.
Meghan Ory has been told ages ago, that Red will be back, that is no news at all. What she said in this short interview doesn’t give me the impression, that she has been booked for any upcoming episode so far, so not getting my hopes up high.
